Okay, the Wii sent a slew of announcements to our inbox today, so I'd like to tell the rest of you what they said in case you never check.
From now on, ALL Wiimotes will be packaged with a jacket. This is a little either cloth or rubber cover for the Wiimote in case you throw it or drop it. (I guess Nintendo's still getting sued for that) Also, if you bought a Wiimote before this, you can go to http://www.Nintendo.com and get a jacket for the Wiimote(s) you already have.
Also, you should update your system again, as they just released a new version of the Wii menu. So go do a Systems Update, now!
heh, I already updated my Wii, guess I know something I want now, a new wiimote, lol
i only have 2 wiimotes, but i ordered 4 jackets, just in case
Good idea.
I forgot, you can also now use a keyboard with the Wii. That's something I've been waiting for for a LONG time.
Oh oh, must get the keyboard!
You don't have to buy a new one, you know. Just find an old one that will connect via USB, should work. I'm not sure exactly which ones work, but I would expect any with a standard layout and fairly new...as in last few years...
Well, my strap for it came off, when my friend dropped it, lol, and I can't put it back in, and yea, so I'm just going to get one of the newer versions when I can.
Actually, I got the announcement about the jackets and the updates about two weeks ago. I ordered two jackets and updated the Wii. I wonder why I got the messages so much earlier then you did, though? I mean, I've gotten no messages ever since...
I just updated mine when it told me to after I connected to the internet with it, heh.
...They must be racist!
I dunno, we just went and bought a second Wiimote, it didn't come with a jacket though, so we ordered two jackets just now.
Well, my wiimote sucks anyway, lol, it doesn't work right, like it will shut off like when I am in play and the batteries are new... it did that like five times in a row yesterday, lol.
Well, I just checked my email, and it looks like they shipped out the two Wii remote jackets I ordered on the 23rd. It'll take 5-10 days for them to get here, so they could be here any time during this week. I can't wait!

That could be because of the sensor bar. Either that, or the Wiimote loses its sync with the console.

Assuming that Jdog was indeed talking about his Wii-mote and Shika was talking about keyboards, then how did he go from keyboard to Wii-mote? The world may never know.
Anywho, all Wii-motes are now going to be packaged with a jacket. Does that include the Wii-mote included with the Wii? Does the Wii still come with Wii Sports, a Wii-mote, and a Nunchuck controller? Shikamaru and Twilight Wolf seems to be knowledgeable of the subject. Perhaps one of them can answer my question.
And both of them just happen to be on.
I expect a response in the next two point one zero two three nine minutes or else I cause TDC to become a Megaman fan site!
Yes, Jdog, check the sensor bar. Make sure it's about in the middle of the TV, and make sure that you have the sensor bar settings adjusted appropriately, depending on whether you have it above or below the TV. Also, make sure you're not playing too far away from the TV, and check the sensitivity settings. If this doesn't fix it, contact Nintendo's Customer Support.
And by the way, the Wii Remote jacket is not an alternative to wearing the wrist strap. It's just there to make sure that if you do happen to drop it or maybe the wrist strap breaks, it will be more protected. Always wear your wrist strap. I've had three close calls where I've let go of the remote while I was playing, and the wrist strap kept it from flying across the room.
Yes, HNS, the Remotes and Nunchucks will still be packaged with the console, and the Remotes that come with the console will also have a jacket. They will also include jackets for the Wii Remotes that come with copies of Wii Play. I'm also pretty sure that they'll also keep packaging consoles with Wii Sports.
Yes, the Wii Console will come with all the original stuff plus a jacket.
Thank you for the information. However, you did not reply within the specified amount of time. I must now turn TDC into a Megaman fansite.
Okay, goofiness over. Back on topic if there is still a topic to discuss.

I tried... Actually, I was writing my original post while you happened to post. Then I made an edit talking about what the jackets' purpose was, then I noticed your post, so I made another edit to reply. Please don't turn this site into something else.

*coughcough*
Unless you really,
really want me to transform this site. But I think Shika would verbally and physically maim me if I did that.
Yes, let's just keep it the way it is.
Does anyone have an actual picture of the jackets, aside from the small, animated picture Nintendo has on their website?
Actually, I like Megaman....
I have not seen it, actually, although it looks different from the ones they sell at the store. Looks a bit odd.
Well, the ones they sell at stores like Wal-Mart are pretty much just to make your remotes look cool. Some are even temperature sensitive, so they change color when you hold them. I don't think they provide much protection in the case of letting the remote go.
Yeah, alot of stores tend to do that alot...
A lot of stores tend to sell stuff a lot? Is that what you're trying to say? Well, we certainly didn't need you to tell us that; it's pretty much a given, even with little kids (though they probably don't get the point of having to buy things).
Also, a lot is two words. Not one word.
No, I was saying, A lot of stores tend to make things look cooler than they really are...

Yes, HNS, please do think before you post. Stores will sell stuff that's gimicky but useless, that's what Jdog was getting at. Now please, no more of that.
8) he was obviously joking
I was at a wal-mart a few days ago and saw them selling nerf jackets for wiimotes...
Yeah, and they sell Nerf cases for your DS, too, and I've also seen Nerf Playstation 2 controllers. They feel cool, but they're really pretty much just for the look and feel. No other purpose, really...
Well, once our Remote jackets arrive, I'll post some pictures of them, and I'll let you know how they feel.

Well sorry Jdog said something that wasn't all that clear to me. Trust me, I did review his post and the post before that, and to me it looked like he was commenting that stores tend to sell a lot of stuff. I'm sorry I can't read minds like you can. Maybe in the future I just won't ask questions to clarify stuff. Since I won't be asking questions anymore, might as well practice flipping burgers, huh? I bet you'd love to see that, JQ.
To Jdog, thank you for clarifying what you said.
Well, we got our remote jackets today! They're not too difficult to install, but they're not as easily removable as Nintendo says they are. However, an added feature, they have is a dust cover for the plug on the bottom of the remote, so you can keep the plug dust-free when it's not being used with anything. They're also designed in such a way that you can keep a better grip on them during gameplay, and they're really pretty comfortable; they don't interfere with the controls at all.
Pictures will come soon.
Actually mine's pretty easy to remove...
BTW Shika we've added you on the Wii if you didn't know already XD

Well, it's not difficult, but it's not as easy as Nintendo made it out to be. You're supposed to be able to remove it easily so you can use it with things like the Wii Zapper or the steering wheel.
