Title: Signature/Small Works Showcase
Post by: Keaton on December 01, 2007, 05:47:09 PM
No, the name was definitely not stolen from ZU.

Now, post your works here.  You may post anything you made here, as long as it adheres to forum rules, and you must receive two comments (constructive ones) on your work before someone else is allowed to post their piece of work.

Any unnecessary posts here will be deleted.  Any flaming, trolling, or derogatory comments will result in a stern talking-to, or even a warning.

This is the Art Nazi's dream thread.

What do you mean by small works? Pixels, small pictures, signatures, etc.? Sorry if I'm bugging you, I'm just so excited to have this up and running XD

Erm, well, anything you've made yourself is possible to post here.  For instance--

C&C (Comments and Criticisms) please.

And no, I won't be entering this into the Brawl contest.

I could if I wanted to, though.

Oh, okay. I thought there was a size limit. XD

Well, I'll post mine now, I guess.

C&C. It's supposed to be the Wormhead dog from Silent Hill 1. (Otherworld) The bandages aren't supposed to be present, though, and I think the worms are supposed to be lighter and pinker.

Unless of course I was supposed to reply to your picture first, in which case:

I really like it, but below pit's name, there is a rather large, empty space. While it could be perfect with the negative space there, I think that you could make Pit's name larger, or have the "P" follow the arc of his sword/bow. Or, for another approach, you could outline his name in black, one pixel, and make the actual name transparent.

I didn't need comments, but thanks anyhow.

I like your drawing, but I'm going to have to say that the colors blend in too well with the background, and the black pencil strokes in the bg distract from the focal point.  I really like it, though. :D

I bet you agree

Um, I don't see Gamefreak posting here, and that's Fisk, not me.  Are you feeling okay?

Now that I've posted here, I feel that I need to comment on the pictures posted, even though I have nothing to share.

To Tacheon, awesome pic.  I agree with Fisk's suggestion for Pit's name.

To Fisk, am I supposed to see worms?  Because I kind of see fur.  Either way, I like it.

To weetle, that's disgusting and I suggest you find other, less repulsive, ways to artistically express yourself.

Weetle, not only did you not give another comment to SNHNS before posting, but that picture was tasteless.  Don't do it again.

I make the backgrounds from the images of the people.characters.  It's all manipulation. :D

Big Daddy, yours is fantastic, I love how the name looks, gives him an edge. Love the expression too, although I don't think you drew it ;)Just a comment.

SNHNS, it's beautiful in a creepy, nightmare-inducing kind of way. You know what I mean. Silent Hill wasn't meant to make you giggle.

Also, what was Weetle's picture...?

Well, here's my first work with GIMP. Nothing to extreme.

Was gonna put a picture in there, but I couldn't figure out how.

It's not too shabby.  Don't let the text be transparent like that, but the texturing/C4D in the background is nice.  I kind of like it.

Add a border, reduce the size of it, and in order to place an image in, go to Insert>Image as Layer, I believe.

I like it, maybe sharpen the lines of the text and change its colour to blend a bit more. But good for your first attempt on GIMP.
Here is my sig using Tacheon's tutorial:

I like it, but there's a lot of blank space that I think you could fill up with interesting text.

I concur.  Do you have Photoshop, because a lot of tutorials don't translate into GIMP very well...

No, Paint Shop Pro, so there was a lot of stuff I couldn't do on it.

Wow.  Using PSP, that's really good!

How is my new set?

I love it... and how they match. I personally can never get a matching set, but that's because I don't have image signatures. XD the colours and composition are great, though. I like how the text isn't straight.

I think it's excellent. I love the way the picture looks as if it is Meant to be with that background, it just fits ^^

All right.  Normally, I'd never violate my own rules... BUT.

There's a big competition, one for ALL of ZU coming up on the 16th, and I need as much criticism on this new piece as I can get.

Clicky! (http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x295/TacheonBlack/LPs/MorpheelLP.png)

The real question is:  Would you download this as a background for your computer?
Title: Re:Signature/Small Works Showcase
Post by: Fishalicious on January 13, 2008, 04:02:46 PM
I don't have a custom background on my computer, so probably not... XD But it's nice.

If I had to say anything, it would be that the clipping could be neater; I can see where you cut it off the original image. ^^;

Thanks.  Sorry for abusing my own rules, but I lost the contest anyhow... I got second place. :P

Well, bring it on, next poster!

Could you make me a signature with Ike and Wario in it?
And put in the text
"Try me."
and in the bottom corner "-zeldaveteran
PIC 1 (http://chibikuroneko.deviantart.com/art/Fire-Emblem-Lord-Ike-75916094)
I want the pic on the right, the one in color.
PIC 2 (http://www.mlive.com/images/weblogs/20070117_warioware_wario.jpg)
If you could horozontally flip that picture, and make them standing back to back, that'd be great.
I'd like a dark background, and see if you can't make them blend a little bit. Like see how Wario is so colorful, and ike is darker? See if you can level that out a little bit. Put "SSBB" somewhere in there too, preferably in another corner.
Thanks dude!

You would make this request at a signature shop, not here.

Check this out:

Tell me what you think of it, and then I'll tell you what I dislike about it.

That'd make an awesome album cover. Seriously.

The only thing I can find wrong with it is that it needs more cowbell.

-cracks knuckles-

Well, I like it a lot as well, but the orange is in a whole 'nother dimension, it looks like. I think it needs like, shading/hightlighting similar to the rest of the picture, but it's still amazing.
