Title: More Smash info! [spoilers]
Post by: Zelda Veteran on July 31, 2007, 11:59:09 AM
SPOILERS

Lets get down to a new item: Assist Trophies! (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items/assist/assist02.html) It seems as though they will appear just as a regular item would, and they work similar to a PokéBall. Just grab hold of one, and just like magic, a character separate from  the roster will appear to aid you in combat, such as the Hammer-bro from the old mario games, Knuckle Joe, from the kirby series, and Samurai Goroh from the F-Zero X series! I can't help but wonder how many there are.

Another item! The Pitfall! (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items/item06.html) I remember this baby from back when I rented Animal crossing! it was my favorite item in the game! And now its coming to brawl! From what I read in the link I just provided, you can set it up as a trap. Any played that walks over it is gonna fall right through! Also, if you throw it at a character, they'll fall through a pass-through floor!

Now for DK's final smash! (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/characters/donkeykong.html#3rd) Its absolutely... retarded. He uses bongos. >.< I found that kind of low rate for what they could have had him do. Anyone recall the DK launcher from the 64 series?

Title: Re:More Smash info! [spoilers]
Post by: DW on July 31, 2007, 12:18:01 PM
Hehehe....I love the DK launcher..maybe that'll be another attack...

Anyways, I can't wait for the pitfall, that'll be sweet.

Maybe DK's special will be cooler than expected, you never know.

Post by: Zelda Veteran on July 31, 2007, 03:25:53 PM
Well, he's really low on my character usage rate, so I don't care. :P

Eh no one cared about Donkey Kong in the first place  ;)
Shika-san's being a little too optimistic.
Ah well but if anyone cares I have a SSBB trailer and a vid of my own up on Youtube that's open for commenting  :). Has Link's Triforce Slash (which is the uber cooliest Final Smash ever), Pikachu's (which I think is called Volt Tackle?) and maybe Mario's.

I do! DK is awesome.

Personally from DK, I want some retro! Its all gone downhill since DKC2.

Lets take a vote, who wants Megaman, who wants Sonic?
Title: Re:More Smash info! [spoilers]
Post by: Zelda Veteran on July 31, 2007, 08:57:36 PM
Megaman would be cool, but he'd be really tiny, and contained in a chip :P

And I'm sure Sonic is gonna be in it. 99.999.9% positive! :)
Title: Re:More Smash info! [spoilers]
Post by: DW on July 31, 2007, 10:22:08 PM
Megaman wouldn't have to be small. The original was a human-sized robot.

Not in the later original Megamans.

The Bongo-games are cool, so I kinda like to see a reference to them ingame. Not that I use DK that often (only used him in SSBM to beat one of those wirepeople-tests).

The Assist Trophies sound ubercoolest. A great way to "add" more characters to the game. I just hope they are actually going to use this to give some less known characters some attention.

They just announced another new character on the official site today.  As ZV predicted, it is Ike.

What they need to do is get away from sword users and put in Ephraim and/or Hector.  Or maybe Canas as Dr. Truthinite suggested.  Or Gilliam and Dozla.  Or maybe Saleh or Rebecca.

So you have wished it, Sess, so shall it be. (I was thinking of merging it anyway.)

Since I merged it, ignore all double posts that may appear before this post. This is a side effect of the merging.

Quotesonic wouldnt be that could, all he can do is spin and maybe turn to super somic for final smash

B: Charge roll, cannot change directions
^B: Blue tornado (interchangable with ^A)
>B: Spin dash
vB: Curl up and be invincible for a few seconds (StH3)

A: kicks and punches
^A: Homing attack (interchangable with ^B)
>A: Super speed (run by fast and attack, Fox has a similar move)
vA: Not sure... maybe just some punches and kicks, maybe something to do with rings...

Super Smash: SUPER SONIC

Sonic has proven to be an extremely popular character. As a result of this popularity, he has been referred to in various parts of culture. One of a class of genes involved in fruit fly embryonic development, called hedgehog genes, has been named "sonic hedgehog" after the character.

Not only does Wiki have all his moves, it has creepy facts too.

Its like they're posting new info every day to tease us! :o

Here is a look at the main story, which they seem to be putting lots of work into: Subspace Emissary (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/modea/modea02.html) Be sure to watch the little movie too, it seems as though Meta Knight is playing a bigger role than we thought (thats his ship that rolls in, in case there aren't many kirby fans out there).
Guys... I think this game is to die for :-[

Wow, adventure mode looks cooler than ever. The only thing I'm slightly dissapointed in is the fact that the DK stage is almost a clone of the Ice Climber's stage in melee. I was never too good at that stage, but oh well. And Sonic better be in it, 'cuase he's like my second favorite game character.

I've lost much respect for Sonic, and the whole franchise.  It wouldn't matter much to me if Sonic was in it or not.  But if there had to be someone from the Sonic series in it, I would choose Knuckles.

Final smash - Tri-attack, possibly?

Augh, I'm still waiting to hear that Young Link/WW Link is going to be in the game. o_o He'd better be, at least. Adult Link irritates me in the SSB games, I don't really know why.

Me and my friend have just noticed that all of these final smashes give you an insanely unfair advantage, from holding you enemy still while slashing at him with Link, to becoming the invincible Giga-Bowser.

And I kinda wish you could actually fight with the trainer himself...

I managed to get a 999% combo with Shiek once.  I knocked someone into the air with the whip.  And every time he came back down, I'd bring the whip back up to knock him into the air again.  Luckily, he never fell off the stage.

Shiek can be cheap too.

Me or my friend can kill 3 level 9 catain falcolns easy, the trick is to never practice by yourself, the CPUs are idiots.
And yes, Captain Falcoln is cheap.
Finally, Marth is the best character sombody new to the game can choose and do well with.

Ah yes, Marth is a nice character to use for beginners... Easy to unlock, too.

Oh yeah, I'm REALLY hoping Tournament mode comes back for Brawl... I love really long tourneys with varied levels of CPU's. It's really fun.

I hate CF. My friend uses him to annoy me. Because of "FAAHLCOHN PAAAAAAAUUUNCH!"
Ganondorf is a better Cpt. Falcon. And tons less annoying and lots cooler.
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Fishalicious on August 16, 2007, 06:42:38 PM
I once used Captain Falcon. I never used him again.

I also used Ganondorf. I can't stand his speed or his slow-as-crap drop kick. I do give him points for being able to do that, however.

I'm more of a "I'll hit you from way over here kthx" person. I like speed and long-range attacks. -coward!-

Speaking of titles... my most common titles are "coward" and "snuggly-bear." I get "Switzerland" a lot, too. 8D

I like stringing together combos and slipping through their attacks. That's why I do so well with Fox, Marth, and Link, although Link has a bit less dodginess but a bit more POW!, you know?
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Zoratunic on August 16, 2007, 06:49:49 PM
I'm fairly good with Link and Samus, but not sure if I'm better at young or standard Link.
Also, what control scheme will you use? Wiimote, Wiimote+Nunchuck, Classic controller, or Gamecube?
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Fishalicious on August 16, 2007, 06:51:15 PM
Wiimote & Nunchuk, I guess. I love the GC controller more, but I'll have a 3x advantage with the Wiimote, you know?
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic

I thought it was only going to be Classic Control scheme?
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Twilight Wolf on August 16, 2007, 07:17:09 PM
No, there's supposedly four different control methods. A GameCube controller, stand-alone Wii remote, Wii remote with Nunchuck, and the Classic Controller. Personally, I'll probably use the Remote and Nunchuck.

As for the characters I like to use, I'm pretty good with Fox, but I use Ness and Bowser sometimes, too. I used to use Ness all the time, but now it's all about Fox.

I'm good with Marth, so my brawl character will probably be Ike.

im going to use the wiimote/nunchuck, my countless hours with TP and RE4 have made me quite adept to it

I haven't gotten much Wiimote training outside of Wii Sports, but I'll probably train supa hard to get good at all modes and find out which one works best for me after training.

None of this wave-the-controller rubbish.

Also, if the Pokemon Trainer just stands in the background while his pokemon fight, what about on screens that scroll, like the DK stage, or adventure mode, since the screens move in those ones.

I don't think they're going to make an extra one for that generation, since Diamond and Pearl are already out.

We don't know that he's the villain. All we saw was his ship. For all we know, it could have been stolen.

Also, there will be no WaterBlue, since Green was actually Blue in Japan, they are the same game.
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Commodore Axilon on August 18, 2007, 10:14:07 PM
Au contraire. There actually was a Blue version in Japan which was an updated version of the Green and Red versions with an improved engine, updated graphics, and altered gameplay elements. The Red and Blue versions released outside of Japan used the Japanese Blue version's updated graphics and engine while keeping the original Green and Red version's gameplay. Emerald
Diamond and Pearl
LightningYellow or WaterBlue

I'm not denying his awesomeness.  And I've played a couple of Donkey Kong games.  Donkey Kong Country for the Game Boy Color was actually the first game I ever bought (don't know what happened to it; I suspect my brother had something to do with it).  But I'm just saying that there are other characters I would like to try out before I give Diddy a try.  Characters like Link, Zelda, Pit, Ike, Peach, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, and the Pokemon Trainer (who they should add on the option of being the female trainer to; come on Nintendo, let's see some more females in the line-up!).

They have anounced that they're will be full fledged bosses in the game, and the first is called Petey Pirannah. He the giant Pirahna Plant that captures Zelda and Peach at the begining, and it looks like you may have to fight him as Kirby, which could mean you have to use a certain character in each section of the game. He attacks you with the cages(that must suck to be Peach and Zelda then). Also, while you're fighting him, you have the chance to break open one of the cages that hold either Zelda or Peach and they can help you fight. However, your choice may effect the story, or something, since they say:
QuoteWhat will happen to the one you don't save?
Based on my Melee experience, I would choose Zelda over Peach, but I'll probably try Peach eventually, see if it affects what happens.
*breathes* Wow, that was a long post!

Two more songs anounced, The main theme for Brawl (it's got an opera like sound to it) and the main Pokemon song (it's even got the evolution song at the end!)

I guess when you collect CD's they add to your selection of available music. They can appear during any game mode, at any time, so you better collect them!

speaking of pokemon, munchlax is one of the many pokemon you can summon now, apparently all he does is eat the items
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Hi no Seijin on September 10, 2007, 12:32:30 PM
Which isn't a bad thing if you and your friends like to rely on skill alone, but then again, if you rely on skill alone, then you wouldn't have items on, so Munchlax would be a kind of waste in multi-player.  All depends on a person's fighting style.

If your opponent utilizes items well and you are more melee fighting, a great pokemon Munchlax makes.

Though unlikely, I doubt that they'd "have" to. They didn't have to put third-party characters in there at all, but they did. They can be flexible, right?

Still, if they have Knux, then they have to have the main character from the series he's from. You don't see Luigi without Mario, or Diddy without DK, Falco without Fox. See my point?
And Sonic has the Homing Attack, everybody loves the Homing Attack!

How are assist trophies going to work again? By the looks of it, each character has their own set of assist trophies, or will it all be completely random? Kind of... weird. Hundreds of guys and no way to predict if you'll see a certain character or not.

Being in Smash Bros. is irrelevant.  An obscure character doesn't necessarily need a better known character to stand alone, and the same goes for sidekicks.  I would actually like to see sidekicks and relatively unknown characters be playable and main characters and well known characters be assist trophies.  After all, Marisa deserves some loving, and Mario can take a back seat every once in a while.

That would defy logic though, becuase almost nobody would know who the heck they are. They're called main characters for a reason, to be the center of the attention.

Post by: Hi no Seijin on September 12, 2007, 04:20:10 PM
That's the point of having obscure characters be playable; so people learn about them.  Look at Marth and Roy; if they hadn't been put in Melee, then I doubt just about anyone outside of Japan would know about them.  Main characters are nice and all, but the universe doesn't revolve around them.  With all of his spin-offs, I'm getting sick of Mario, and he's Nintendo's main character.  It's about time we get some fresh blood in the line-up.

Oh, yeah, no doubt that it's possible. It's just a bad idea to do if it's your only means of attacking and if you're not very skilled at it. Just tossing it all out there. ;)

This is Nintendo we're talking about here. If they wanna keep it rated T, then that means no smoking. Also, snake already looks so ownsome that I doubt that he needs a knife.

your lack of faith disturbs me! first of, the first two metal gears were for nintendo systems, and snake sported his cigarettes, as he also did in twin snakes for the GCN, also in MGS3 substinance, snake said a knife is better for CQC, or close quaters combat

True maybe, but Metal Gear Solid games are aimed at an older gaming audience.  Super Smash Bros is aimed at a much younger age group.  I doubt the 8 year old kiddies want to see someone slitting Pikachu's throat while smoking.

The same way Looney Toons is? There is no blood or gore, there is no dismemberment, and there is no death. In short, there are no negative repercussions of the violence.

Commodore has a point.  8 year olds in the old days watched Looney Tunes.  And while there was indeed explosions and hurting, there was never any gore or dismemberment(that wasn't comical).  When Daffy Duck was shot in the face with a shotgun, he just turned his beak around.  When Wile E. Coyote was caught in an explosion, he was just covered in ash and was fine 5 seconds later.

Obviously, if the Zelda games were as realistic as the Metal Gear games, then there would be limbs flying around and blood all over the place. Swords aren't exactly "clean" weapons.

You are aware that some games are purposely less realistic than others, yes?

They SHOULD still have NESS... notice that other characters from series like Kirby, StarFox and (I think) F-zero are going into SSBB, while the main characters of said series are also staying?

Then again, I am assuming, but have we heard any references to other returning characters like Falco, Captain Falcon, and Fox?

And besides, the Mother series is incredibly popular in Japan. Now if only Nintendo of America would stop being such idiots and STOP denying us the awesome that is EARTHBOUND!

And who could be more pwnsome than Sonic?

Dante

Fenix(gears of war)
Alicia(bullet witch)
Master Chief
any random grunt from halo
Pofessor oak
the square from pong
Kratos
the guy from pitfall

I don't understand how you can be against ANY character. It doesn't mean others can't be in it. I don't like the Ice Climbers, but I'm not against them.

Honestly, if you don't care for a character, you don't have to use him. I don't much like the Ice Climbers, so I don't use them, but I don't complain about the fact that they're in the game. And actually, I think it's pretty cool that Sonic's going to be in the game! It gives the game a bit more variety, you know?

When I get a character in there, even if I don't know who it is or don't like it, I'm still glad the character is there. It's Nintendo's way of showing appreciation to these franchises, and Sonic is definitely a legendary franchise, even if it's been declining. I like to get trophies of those characters and read about their pasts, and usually you can actually get good with a character who 'sucks' if you just allow yourself to learn the new unique fighting method.

If I recall correctly, Nintendo issues a statement that it would only include characters that had appeared on a nintendo console. Though... Whether or not this is so for Sora is up for debate (KH: CoM was for  GBA originally...) Though in my honest opinion, doesn't look too likely unless they're planning KH3 for the wii.

(Sonic has appeared at least  6 times on games on nintendo consoles, about three consoles)

Sonic games?

6 or 7 for the Sega Gamegear/Mastersystem
5 or 6 for the Genesis
1 for 32x (sort of... Knuckle's Chaotix)
1 for Sega-CD
2 for Dreamcast (I think?)

I think it doesn't have to be an exclusive Nintendo Character so long as Nintendo can get the company's approval. I'm sure that Sora is a huge character that people want, so if they get the go-ahead from Square Enix, than hey, why not? He's been on Nintendo consoles.

Don't forget, there were also 3 Sonic games for the Saturn, including some spin-offs, along with another Saturn game that was never released. Though, to be fair, one was just a compilation of four of the Genesis games (Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles, on Sonic Jam).

By the way, I was at Game Crazy today, and I noticed that you could pre-order Brawl for just five bucks! The cover art they had for the game was pretty cool, too. I'll have to try to find it somewhere.

You get to see Twilight Princess Link in action and all of his glory, along with an assist trophy! Watch it here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7EA0EtGrfD8&feature=bz301)

Here is what I found in the video:
Some item that make Spikes stick out
Assist Trophy with advance wars characters
Sonic available from the start, FTW!
You start the battle like the original game, with a special intro.
An item similar to the beam sword
Poison mushrooms will be in it
Sonic's final smash involves Super Sonic, once again, FTW!
Awesome, pure awesome.

Peach's final smash puts your enemies to sleep for quite a while, and then drops peaches all over the place. You can either heal yourself with the peaches, or whack you enemies.

Not really. You can put a suit, like the colors in Melee, on your character when you choose them. Hope we could do Fierce Diety too. Looks like Smash Balls are hard to hold on to.

I agree that creating your own stage is cool, but not to the extent that I'd shout it out.  That would take announcing an FE character I love is a playable character.

This implies that there is a contest for stage design, is this what it is or is there ACTUALY a feature where we can design stages before the fight proper?

To answer your question JQ, here's how it works: You make the stage in the editing program. You can save them to an SD card (and probably your Wii too). You can share them with friends over Wi-Fi, and also upload them to Nintendo, where they will stay there for one day. You will also recieve a custom stage from someone else once per day; I'm thinking it's a random selection.
Maybe this is Brawl's answer to Halo's Forge?
I like it so much, I'm giggling. Takes alot to make me giggle, people.

All the characters now come on screen with "signature moves."

Pit comes out of the sky from a light from Heaven

Snakes camo "breaks up"

Mario comes from a pipe (pretty obvious  ::).....)

Ike comes from a circle on the ground that looks oddly like transmutation circles

So on and so forth.

You guys gotta check it out.

If it isn't, it's pretty close.  Most people, if not everyone, will understand what you're implying.

Back on topic, I'm wondering if Link appears via a Twilight portal or the beam of blue light.  Considering his appearance upgraded to the TP version, it'll probably be the former.

Ahh... Super Smash Bros., the only place where you can find all your favorite Nintendo characters in one place.
I doubt that you can find Diddy, Fox, and Rayquaza all together at once anywhere else. What makes me wonder is why Rayquaza was attacking Fox and Diddy...
On a side note, several of the old items are back.
Although Nintendo made an epic fail...
Rayquaza is supposed to live in the upper atmoshere, not a lake.

Edit:  The update for Lucas's special moves hints that Ness won't be returning.  Well, Lucas has a similar fighting style, so Ness and Lucas would end up being clones if Ness was put in.

I'd look, but I'm feeling lazy.

In other news, I went to Brawl's official site today and found an unofficial battle theme for a character in the game I'm planning out.  Seeing as how Alzod is nearly the same as Dozla from FE 8, I guess "Meta Knight's Revenge" could be his battle theme as well.

Actually, they did the "Bring your own music" thing with Excite Truck. If you had music on an SD Card, you can use it in the game! That would be cool in Brawl, especially because everyone here uses SD cards for stuff.

I'm still hoping they'll announce that Wolf Link will be in the game. If they announce that, I won't need anything more in the game.

Actually, I don't think that's a confirmed range of time for its release in Europe. Let me check... *checks Wikipedia*

Nope. That date is unconfirmed. It's still yet to be announced. Though I sincerely hope that it's earlier than June. I mean, that's just unfair...

Anyway, I think we'll all be pleased to hear that Famitsu magazine gave SSBB a perfect score of 40/40, "praising it for the variety and depth of the single-player content, the unpredictability of Final Smashes, and the dynamic fighting styles of characters" (Wikipedia).

I'm very happy to hear this! This is the seventh perfect-rated game in Famitsu history! This should definitely tell us something! :D

Well... It looks like Hi no Seijin is going to like this at least a little bit. Looks like that stickers become RPG-items that give you advantages in battle, like increasing attack power or decreasing the distance you take when you take a hit.

But really, I brought this up mainly because The Sacred Stones characters make appearances in the game. As stickers, yes, but at least they make appearances! :D

A. I'm not really that mad about the delay. It gives me more time to earn money for it. Also, it's Nintendo. You should be used to delays by now.

B. ... Sheik has bigger breasts than Zelda. This bothers me because of the whole "tried to look like a man to confuse Ganon" thing going on. u_u ... also, boobs suck when fighting.
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: DW on January 18, 2008, 05:15:31 PM
Well, this is TP Sheik. She's also got a ponytail, so I don't really think she's trying to avoid Ganon this time. Also, I don't think they suck when fighting, they look rather nice.

...

Oh, you mean they suck for the person doing the fighting? Yeah, they'd probably get in the way.

So, todays update was an example of gameplay over Wi-Fi.  Seeing Samus's Final Smash in action was my favorite part.  Now I know how easy it is to dodge giant laser beams.  Unless, you know, she's right at the edge of the stage and my only other option is to plummet to my DOOM.
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Bboy94 on January 24, 2008, 10:14:41 AM
That may actually be preferable, because then it's only a self-destruct instead of a KO.

So, I hope instead of just lagging, the whole battle goes in slow motion, because you can practice that, in training mode.

Of course, the beam was rather narrow at around the barrel of Samus's beam. So if you manage to stall in the air long enough, you might be able to avoid most, if not all, of the damage. Plus, luckily for Link, she wasn't on the very edge of the stage. However...I guess the other option would be plummeting to said DOOM.

Heh, Sonic got owned from her Final Smash... XP

It would be a KO if someone had hit you before you fell.

Also, it was hard to tell considering the size of the video, but I think Mario barely touched the beam, so you might have to stall up in the air for quite a while before it's safe to land.

Sonic might have avoided the Final Smash if Link didn't knock him into it. XD

Today's update announced that we could play demos of classic games on Brawl.  I guess it's a good feature for if you want to try out a game before you get it on the VC.  Personally, I'll probably be having too much fun getting smacked around and trying to smack other people around to care much for the demos.

Why do they call him Toon Link? :-*
That kind of ruined his debut in SSBB for me...
And It looks sweet! Can't wait for it!! Seriously, I can't wait anymore!!

It's just a name, really. I mean, having Sephiroth as a name wouldn't necessarily make that character high-tier... Wait, what am I saying? Yeah, it would! :P

I share your excitement, buddy! I'm ready to brawl! :D

They look real, but I still can't help but feel skeptical about their authenticity.

Still, Lucario as a playable character?  Hells yeah!  If you're not going to give me Lyn instead of Marth/Roy, at least give me Lucario instead of Mewtwo!

A note from Sakurai (The owner of Dojo)

QuoteJan. 31 Thu. 2008

An Announcement about Future Updates

January 31st, 2008. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has officially gone on sale in Japan. Is everybody having fun with it?

However, Smash won't come out in North America for a bit and sadly, Europe has an even longer wait until the game releases.

For the past eight months or so, Smash Dojo has served as a source of basic information for the game, but with the release of Brawl, the Dojo will take on a new role.

From here on out, the Dojo will begin to introduce the hidden characters, hidden stages, and additional features in Brawl that have gone unmentioned until now. I'd like to continue to add on to the Dojo so that players of Brawl can come back to this website following it's completion and view Smash Dojo as a sort of guide for the game.

I plan on continuing updates for another two months, so please continue to enjoy the site.

Just remember, I'll be posting information on hidden characters and other in-game secrets, so you should take caution when viewing the site if you want to save those surprises for later.

Besides, Dr., sheer power doesn't do well in Smash. Speed is possibly the most important asset to a character. Without it, you're pretty much no more than a sitting duck to quick opponents. Look at Bowser, for instance: he's pretty powerful. Nice knockback. Good finishing moves. The drawback? He's slow. Not only in horizontal movement, but also in recovery time. Does the good outweigh the bad? The tiers list says otherwise (he's one of the lowest on the list).

Once again, that's only if you play the games. In the comics and (non 4kids) shows, he knows how to fight. Besides, as Mags stated above, speed is important. If you've seen the videos with him fighting, he's got quite the array of kicks.

Captain Falcon can only kick and punch.

Does this make him a bad character because all he is, is fast?

Not entirely true. You could be the best Bowser player in the world (this is just an example) and yet still get pwned by an experienced Marth player.

EDIT: I spoke too soon... ;)
Title: Re:The SSBB Updates Topic
Post by: Hi no Seijin on January 31, 2008, 04:28:32 PM
He's a bad character because Level 9 Captain Falcon does not care.  He will pwn you in ways you didn't think were possible.  And if he kills himself in the process, then that's just more points for him.

You know, if you were in a smash brother's Tourney, and did in fact, try to make that assertion against someone who's the  number 1 of Bowser, You'd get kicked back pretty damn fast.

It's not just about speed, it's about your ability to combo and think of ingenious ways to manuever the characters.

The following characters are officially listed as not included in Brawl:

Dr. Mario
Mewtwo
Pichu
Roy
Young Link (Technically speaking)

All other classic characters are accounted for and reporting for duty.

Also, Star Wolf is making his debut in this game as well.

Also, several new levels have been confirmed:

I hope thats a playable mode in brawl. It would be too big of a stage without enough stuff to fill the space. I hope they have the POW blocks.

The POW Blocks would be pretty cool. I can see it: you get the POW Block, and everyone else on screen takes damage and gets stunned for a few seconds. One can only imagine how teed-off an opponent can get once you steal all of his or her blocks. :P

There's from and form.  Feed.  Feel, fell.  Plenty of bad words that starts with "f."

Also, punctuation is your friend.  Please use it so we understand you with more ease.

There's a video of the Japanese intro to Brawl somewhere around here (meh, just look for it on YouTube), and if you look closely, you can see Marth running alongside Ike (and Metaknight I believe?) near the end of it.

Not quite news, but it is related to the topic at hand. I went to GameCrazy tonight to try to return my broken Xbox controller and test out my copy of Project Gotham Racing (both of which worked perfectly when I tested them there, of course... Curse you, Murphy's Law!), and while I was there, I decided to pre-order SSBB. The guy there said that it would be pretty much impossible to get a copy anywhere in town after it comes out (which sounds pretty much true), so I decided to go ahead and pre-order it, so I know that I'll get a copy. It only cost five bucks to do so, and when I pay for the game, I'll get five bucks off the cost. They'll give me a phone call as soon as they have a copy I can pick up!

The moral of the story? Just pay the five bucks and pre-order the game. You're guaranteed to get a copy that way.

EDIT: Some real news here, folks! I found what appears to be a complete look at the Japanese version of SSBB's box art. I assume the US version will be pretty similar. (I stole the pictures from an eBay listing. Shh...) Pictures! (http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/9220/ssbbqh1.png)

Scotty kicks butt as Captain Falcon. Well, he doesn't kick butt, but he always wins. He tends to use the insane speed and cheap moves to stay out of the fight most of the time and steal kills.

All right, guys. I'm worried about something.

I have been looking forward to the Subspace Emissary for a long while, people seem to be mixed about it. Is this really a cause of concern for me...? :'(

No, mainly because its their opinion, not your opinion, nor the opinion of a professional game review publication.

One should always take the views of others with a grain of salt.

Mags, the only one who determines whether you're disappointed is you.

It really depends on what you expect from it as well. I'm not expecting anything incredibly deep, but a nice little way to pass the time as opposed to grinding through Adventure mode thirty times.

In the 150cc Class, I can get just about cross the finish line in first place, then a whole lot of crap happens to make me come in third place, knocking me down to 2nd or 3rd place overall.  Mind you, you have to beat the Retro Grand Prix first to unlock Mirror Mode, and then you have to beat a Grand Prix in Mirror Mode, which is also 150cc.  So yeah, he can be difficult to get.

The one person out of everyone there that I had to face was Rabies.  And, I sucked badly because it was a forced Wii-mote/nunchuck fight.

As for the game itself, my favorite 3 newcomers are:

1. Meta Knight
2. Zero Suit Samus
3. Pokemon Trainer

Pre-ordering the game paid off! I went to GameCrazy last night, and I told the guy there that I pre-ordered it, and I asked if I could pick up a copy. He brought out a copy, I paid for it. Plus, when I bought the game, I got 20% off of the strategy guide to go with the game, so I paid for that, too. I owed my dad twenty bucks for the strategy guide, but I actually got twenty bucks from my sister for my birthday, so it worked out perfectly.

I love the game! I only have one complaint, though... When I play as Fox using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, I can't attack by moving the remote! Every other character seems to work... Anyone else notice this?

Yeah, it's almost like everyone from HA2 was there.

Small question pertaining 'Replays'. They are recordings of the matches, right? Do you need special equipment to take them, or can you save them after a match?

Oh, no. As long as you have space to save them on, you can save them. The only requirement about them is that they need to be three minutes in length or less.

Well, Brawl's been out a few months, as we all know. The characters' metagame has been more developed; advanced techniques, discovered; and tourneys, played. Quite surprisingly to me, we now have an official tier list, which is as follows:

Top
Meta Knight
Snake
King Dedede
Mr. Game & Watch
Falco
R.O.B.

High
Marth
Wario
Lucario
Donkey Kong
Diddy
Pikachu
Ice Climbers
Kirby
Pit
Wolf

Middle
Toon Link
Olimar
Fox
Zelda
Zero Suit Samus
Bowser
Luigi
Peach
Ike
Sheik

Low
Lucas
Ness
Mario
Pokémon Trainer
Samus
Yoshi
Sonic
Jigglypuff
Ganondorf
Link*
Captain Falcon

*...

Anybody got a razor...? Or at least some very strong liquor? :-*
