Title: System Switch-off
Post by: Fishalicious on February 29, 2008, 03:36:32 PM
So, last weekend, I brought my wii to my friend's house, and as we were about to beat the endless setlist on Rock Band, her brother asked "can we borrow the wii if we give you one of our PS2's?"

I agreed, having beaten Trauma Center: SO not but a few days before going over, and having beaten all the other games for it.

I borrowed the PS2, Devil May Cry 2, 3, and Kingdom Hearts. I'm hoping to borrow Okami from my friend Ben, as he's yet to really enjoy it.

Are there any other fairly good games for the PS2 (no Final Fantasies or Resident Evil please... I'm not a fan) that I should rent?

Also, I suck at DMC3.

Dante died and it said "easy mode unlocked." u_u; I'm sad now.

The Ratchet and Clank games and the Jak and Daxter games. Everybody loves those.

Everybody.

Edit: I thought of this (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/03/04) (Warning: language) when I read your Devil May Cry thing.

Fighting Games are good, though doubt if you're into that sort of thing. I've only got the (relatively) unpopular (but High quality) SNK fighters though. Like Neo Geo Battle Colessum, King of Fighters XI, and KoF 2006.

OOH! Katamari Dumaci!!!

I'll try and see if I can try to find those to rent at Blockbuster or something. XD;

Also, I want to cosplay as Cerberus from Devil May Cry 3 after if I finish Wolf Link.

Well, since Kingdom Hearts and Ratchet and Clank were mentioned already, I'll go and suggest that you rent Dark Cloud and The Legend of Dragoon. In case you've never heard of any of them, Dark Cloud is a lot like Zelda; and The Legend of Dragoon is much like Final Fantasy, but without the ABS (or whatever the heck it's called).

Both of them are very fun, and I TOTALLY recommend them to you! Of course, TLoD is a PS1 game, not PS2, so the graphic quality is comparatively subpar. The story is just excellent, though! :D

Doubt they still got LoD (or any other PSX games for that matter...) at blockbuster.

I'll go and suggest that you rent Dark Cloud...

I'd suggest that you get the second one. The first one is terrible.

...

Sorry, Mags.

Nah, it's okay, Commodore. :)

Besides, if you're saying that DC2 is better than the first, then I can only imagine how much I can enjoy the second. ~_^

OOH! OOH! DO ME!

So far, I got
Dragon Quest VIII
Romancing SaGa
FF XII
Tales of the abyss

and the others mentioned above.

What should I get (outside of KH and FFX).

My friend actually has Legend of the Dragoon, and Dark Cloud 1 & 2, but his friend Jimmy is borrowing them currently. I'll see if I can get Steven to lend me DC after Jimmy's done.

And JQ, if you want my suggestions:
Rock Band
Okami
Silent Hill 2, 3, or 4.
(2 has sexual content but the most amazing storyline, 3 is fun because of the machine gun and sailor moon outfit, and 4 is great because you don't have to strain your eyes to see! but it's a bit more gory than 2 or 3.)

If you see a Wild Arms and/or a Suikoden game, get it/them.  Wild Arms is an RPG with a Wild West-themed setting where environmentalism is often a major theme.  Suikoden is another RPG, this one with themes such as politics, corruption, and revolution.  Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Arms_series) articles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suikoden) for both (Wild Arms is the first link and Suikoden the second).

God of War if you like that kind of games.  ;)

In a month a friend of mine is giving me his brand new PS2 with GoW 1,2 and Ratchet and Clank, I have also played Smackdown vs RAW: 2007 and that was a brilliant game, I enjoyed smacking down Undertaker from the top of the cage.  :D

ALAS! I have only had time to play the fighters! (And Megaman X8 for anyone who cares).

Hmm... What's a nice bike racer for PS2?
