For ten seconds the other day, I seriously considered being a stand up comedian. And then for the past couple of things, it's been floating around the back of my head. So what do you guys think? Is it something I should at least try out?
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
A rule I like to follow.

No. Unless of course you want to, in which case yes.
I vote no. For a marketable reason of course: Humor following the english language does nothing less but incite mass rioting and hysteria.
OF BOREDOM!
No, didn't you know? He's going to be a stand-up comedian-- but he's going to talk in Zulu!
Actually, I was thinking Swahili.
Oh, and JQ, if I want negative feedback, I'll tell my dad I'm thinking about being a stand up comedian.
If what you talk about is like your humor in TLoBB, then I say go for it. :D
See, I thought about using a lot of video game references, but then I would lose the generation that kind of came before video games. Try to have as a broad range as you can, right?
I say yes, becuase when we IM sometimes I tear up from laughter.
So I say go for it! :)

Piece of advice: set up a recorder and try all kinds of whatever you're trying to do.
Then wait until midnight and get friendly with Amber Longneck. Then record yourself while you're brainsplittingly slammed.
See the difference?

If you're a really good comedian, there won't be a difference.
Let's see, I don't have a hand held recorder, I can't afford one, and the recording program on my computer only records for 60 seconds at a time. Send me a recorder/tell me where I can find a better recorder online?
I advise against getting majorly slammed, HNS. :P
Download Audacity.
It's the best voice recorder program for free out there, and you can also use it as a voice changer to have fun with your friends.
That's only because you're using the Trial Version. Either find a free, open source program that does the same or pay up.

I believe that the program HnS is talking about is the Sound Recorder that comes standard for Windows.
You could always buy a microphone for your computer. I have one; my brother uses it for his music and it is a good quality product. You can even edit what the voice sound like, and stuff.
That's amazing.
Of course, in order to record something, you would need a program with the ability to... you know... record.
Try Audicity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)
That may or may not be what you're looking for.

That is indeed what I'm talking about.
Thanks for the suggestion, Tacheon, and thanks for the link, JQ.

No problem.
even if it was my idea, JQ...
Don't worry, Tacheon; you get most of the thanks. That's why I put you first.
Heh heh heh heh heh...

Don't try to please everyone. Find the humour you're best with and use it. Find a style. Better to get a slightly smaller audience that wants your babies in them than a much bigger audience that doesn't put you above
Scrubs.
I suppose that is true.
Why dont you try political satire? I for one find political satire hilarious. :)
Wouldn't that require a more in-depth knowledge of politics that I don't have? I suppose it couldn't hurt to pay more attention to that, but I'm leaning towards how some things just don't make sense.
Whatever you do, dont use comedy of the Lewis Black brand. it's funny but in the end it's all just alot of yelling.

Yes, it actually requires a lot of knowledge. Colbert is a freaking genius.
Speaking of stuff that doesn't make sense, you ever realize how we always go and get a Whopper and large fries, then a diet soda?
Yes, well, I generally avoid fast food, which doesn't really seem all that fast. I mean, for a business that emphasizes so much stress on getting people in the door and out as quickly as possible, you'd think they would have some psychics to let them know what to make and how much of it to make.
How do you feel about airline food? What exactly do you think is up with that stuff?
Have you ever heard of Demitri Martin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhmahD_EbHY)? He's possibly my hero.
You see, sometimes it's about your voice as well as material. (... that doesn't really have much to do with Demitri Martin, though his calm demeanor is funny to me)
UH... as for you, witty humour is probably your thing. I like people who are witty more with humour than just being stupid, you know? O-or pictures. -artist-

Oh, you know. The plane is up with it. The people eating it are up with it. Perhaps some clouds are up with it.
To Fisk: I have; Shika showed me a video, and from there I found a few more videos of him.
Demetri Martin is God in an awkward young man's body.
I say go for it, but if you get booed and people stare at you while blinking several times... then throw tomatoes at you, its not my problem. haha(jk)
That's why I'm not going to visit your town.
Stares at blinking various times* um what???
That's another reason why I'm not going to your town.
