Just recently, Activision released some info on "Guitar" Hero 4. And "Guitar" Hero 4 will feature nice new features unthought of anywhere else! For example, "Guitar" Hero 4 will have drums! "Guitar" Hero 4 will also feature *gasp* a microphone!
INNOVATIVE!
On another note. I take back everything I said about Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS because now:
"When gamers preorder the game they will receive a Guitar Hero On Tour "pick stylus".
ZOMG!
As you can tell, I could not be more excited for these titles.
You know what would be pretty awesome? If they made a Guitar Hero: Drummer's edition with a miniature drumstick stylus. These next games sound sweet though, can't wait.
Well gee, that sounds terrible.
I think they're trying to rip off Rock Band.
Quote from: Feder-Fünfzehn on May 23, 2008, 04:46:02 PMI think they're trying to rip off Rock Band.
No way.
Well, if they're making this new "Guitar, Drums, and Microphone Hero" available for the Wii, and it's got online play, I'm definitely gonna go for this one over Rock Band.
My brother got to play test GH On Tour a few months ago. he said it was good, but overpriced.
I doubt I'll get any of the new games though. Especially GH4, a drum and microphone? That'll cost an arm and a leg.
I will say that the Guitar Hero 4 drum controller looks better than the Rock Band one, though. I mean, you actually have cymbals on it.
True, but then only three pads. Hmm. Wonder which one will end up being better...? It really all comes down to how they execute the new instruments.

.....................................The video will explain.
...............I'm apalled......
What do you expect? Of course it seems bad just because they're branching out to places they probably nnormally wouldn't think of.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAREER? [/singing]
I don't know, I thought the video was kind of funny. It's just not Guitar Hero without a guitar, though. I can't imagine the DS's audio quality is all that great, either...
On top of everything they're doing already, Activision announced Guitar Hero: Metallica today.
...Well, something tells me Guitar Hero is going the way of Sonic.
Getting a recessive colour gene named after them?
Or do you mean that they're choosing quantity over quality?
All I know is, is that I'm never touching Guitar Hero again.
You should change the topic name to, "Activision whores itself out."
:D
Or 'Activision pulls a Disney Channel'
Has Activision finished "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith," "Guitar Hero: On Tour," or "Guitar Hero 4?" It seems like they're getting way ahead of themselves here. This one makes ten Guitar Hero games, including three portable games. Dang.
None of them have been released yet. On Tour for the DS is set to release this month though.
Hey, when I went to Waldenbooks to find the elusive books I want to read, guess what I found!:

Guitar Hero Carabiner.
My God...There's no stopping them!

I really hope they dont kill Gutiar Hero. If they do, I'll be so sad.
So, so deeply sad. :'(
Well, this is what happens when you put franchising into the equation of some companies...
I still think it's funny that the players are still right handed on lefty flip in Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
It doesn't bug me or anything, but they take the time to synch up the singer's lips with the lyrics, but not the time to flip the guitarist/bassist/drummer.
That would probably require more hardware than anything else. That's where the supply and demand part of it would possibly come in. Either that, or they just didn't think about it/don't care. Hopefully it's just the former.
And I've just realized that we do have, like, three topics on the subject of Guitar Hero now. I'll merge them.
EDIT: Merge'ded.

Care to elaborate on that?
Probably.
Actually, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Guitar Hero: Lefty Edition. The songs would be by Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, etc.
It doesn't surprise me, now that Guitar Hero is under their control...Gah, why did it have to go to Activision...?
inorite
I'd rather it go the way of Peace-Maker Kurogane - accidentally release the sequels, then cancel them, and hand over the rights to a better different company 3 years later.

Well, Metallica is probably one of the most influential music groups if not the most infulential, and with a game that was encompassed around bands that inspired and have been inspired by metallica you will have probably the best compilation of rock songs ever, for example, you will have sabbath, ozzy, iron maiden, judas priest, and dragonforce, just to name a few.
For the same reason, they
need to make a Beatles edition. I'd be all over it if they did. As a matter of fact, after the announcement of "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith:"
QuoteMartin N. "Marty" Bandier, executive for Sony/ATV which owns the copyrights on The Beatles recordings, has stated that he is very interested in helping Activision to bring a Beatles-themed Guitar Hero title to the market in a similar fashion to Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.
The problem is, since it's Sony/ATV, it might only hit the PS3 if they made one. Then I'd be sad. Very much so.

I could care less. I love Metallica, but to play a video game almost exclusively based around their music or things that sound like their music is boring. The reason I liked the classic Guitar Heroes, is because there was
variety, not playing the same genre/band/sound over and over again.
Activision's selling out, because they're making whole video games based on the bands that pay them the most money.
And good luck shelling out somewhere in the 200-300 dollar area this Christmas for all your beloved Guitar Hero stuff.
Who said i'm getting any of it? i mean i'll get metallica when it comes out but that's it
I like how you put DragonFarce up there with Sabbath, Priest, and Maiden.
And by "like" I of course mean "am laughing my head off at".
Rabies is a huge Dragonforce fan.
I don't like them to much.
not a huge fan, but a fan
i was just trying to show how the game will have a variety of bands, and fyi, dragonforce's main inspiration besides video game music was maiden
Yeah, but it'll be almost primarily heavy metal bands/music.
I think that's what Gamefreak's getting at.
I don't know if this has been stated yet, but there is also a Guitar Hero; Aerosmith as well.
You're right, I forgot to mention Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.
Another game I won't be buying.
I don't really care if it has drums or a microphone or not. I just hope there's better songs. There were only two songs on Guitar Hero III. that I liked. I hope they put more songs like they had on II. Like Guns 'N' Roses, and Anthrax and stuff. Those are some good songs. :)
Honestly, I'm surprised Disney hasn't hopped on the bandwagon by now. Seems they would have created a Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers knockoff version within a year, but it's been a while and they still haven't thought of it.
Wouldn't they need to buy the rights to Guitar Hero to do that?
But...it's possible that they are making it; they just didn't reveal the titles yet. XD
I actually want more songs by the Killers, or like, Bright Eyes or something on there.
However, Fisk won't get her Indie music. It's just that simple. >:
They should put in Master of Puppets. There's alot of good guitar parts in that song. Especially the middle of it. And they better not shorten it! >:( lol

Not if they don't put Guitar Hero in the name. They'll just make a knockoff controller with four buttons instead of five to make it easier for their fans, and change Star Power to Rock Power or something else stupid.
I've really liked the progressive rock songs they've had on there. YYZ, Impulse, Push Push...3's and 7's was good. Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart is still one of my favorites. I have a broad range of musical styles that I like, so I suppose they're all good to me. Except Freya. Despised that song. With a passion.
Did you know that there hasn't been a single Led Zeppelin song in the entire Guitar Hero franchise?
That is the height of ridiculousness.
Nor has there been any Hendrix, nor AC/DC...I think it's because they can't get the rights to the songs.
Micheal Jackson, plz. Or the Beatles.
I dunno, there's a lot of songs with potential that'll never get on there because they aren't paying GH enough. /: That or they can't get the rights. (and I wouldn't say it's because someone's dead-they got Heart-shaped box, and Kurt's been dead since before GH.)
Hendrix had a song on the first one.
And I didn't think you needed the original artist's permission to do a cover of one of their songs?
Hm... I guess I didn't think it through. -braindead... though you can't expect much from a zombie-
I dunno, then. D: but Stairway to Heaven needs to be on Rock Band 2 or something. (Hell, I'd buy the GH games just to play it)

he did? Hmm, I didn't have GH1, so it doesn't surprise me. Wonder why there wasn't anything on the next games then...
The problem is the covers usually suck compared to the originals. Ballroom Blitz disappointed me a bit. Mostly the guitar. The drums were the same though, which is my favorite part, so yay!
Ballroom Blitz on Guitar Hero is a cover of a cover, which is pretty much ridiculous.
The version on Rock Band is a lot better, albeit still a cover.

There hasn't been any ACDC either. (We need a lightning bolt symbol on they keyboard).

I don't know... I'm pretty sure a company sued Nintendo for copyright infringement due to the Wii's ability to detect motion in three-dimensional space or something like that. If Activision's as smart as the said company I neither remember nor care about, then it'd probably be up on Disney's case in a heartbeat.
Anyway, for future songs, I have two words:
Sister Hazel. Heck to the yeah. :D
I actually think it might have been Sony who did that, since their PS3 controller does motion detecting or whatever. Not sure though. Anyways, unless they've patented the idea of a guitar-shaped controller, it's free for knockoffs.
No, I think it was some company in Texas or something... Yes, the PS3's SIXAXIS controller does utilize motion sensitivity, but I don't think it's able to point at a screen like the Wii.
But...I guess you're right about the patent thing.

I don't think I've ever heard a Michael Jackson song that uses the guitar. I can see the Beatles, though. And you guys mean to tell me that they don't have any Hendrix or Zeppelin? That's not right at all, man. :-* lol.
I'm hitting my head on my desk right now, very hard!

The "Guitar Hero" name is becoming worthless.
Even worse, Guitar Hero on Tour is actually getting decent reviews.
Maybe just because they like it. Doesn't mean we HAVE to.
Or... maybe it's a decent game after all.
It's a possibility!

so guitar hero 4 will be pretty much like rock star is what your saying???
You know, I always thought guitar hero was for guitars. But now that I see a drum set, I'm not so sure.
Yea, isn't that why its called guitar hero 4. not guitar/drum hero!?
Well, as I've mentioned somewhere once before, I'm still gonna go for Guitar/Drum/Microphone Hero over Rock Band if it has online play.
I'm pretty sure Rock Band has online play.
Not the Wii version.
You think it would, I know the PS3 version does, I think anyway. Cause my friend has it for the PS3 and he says it does.
Yeah, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have online play, so you'd think the Wii version would have it... but no. There's no reason for it, either.
Yea, you think it would, and it would be cool if it did, I would defently buy it for the wii. I think I'm going to get it for the xbox though.
That would be in your best interests. You also get downloadable content, customizable characters, and the World Tour mode.
The Wii version has none of that.
Yea, thats why I like the Xbox versions of those games so much more better.
You're a very fortunate person to have an Xbox 360 and not be stuck with the worst versions of every game.
Anyways, this is getting off topic. Has anyone tried Guitar Hero: On Tour? I think it looks a bit... cumbersome to play.
Nah, I don't think this will be on my list of games to play, its not guitar hero without the guitar, It should be called DS hero. lol
Perhaps so. It really seems like it might be difficult to play, though, just because of the awkward control scheme. I mean, holding the DS sideways, pressing buttons on the side of it, strumming with the touch screen? Sounds unintuitive, if anything.
Yea, I know I could never do well at that game, I barely do well at guitar hero 3. lol
Guitar hero Aerosmith comes out sunday, I CAN'T WAIT!
Wait, I thought that was already out???
Hmm. You know, I believe I read that Guns 'n Roses was inspired by Aerosmith. The game is Aerosmith and the bands they inspired, right?
I believe it's also bands that inspired them as well.

There's not a Guns 'n Roses song in the game, if that's what you're wondering.
There's not? Well screw that then, it must not be worth it.
I've read from a couple places that carpel tunnel ensues with On Tour.
Guitar Hero Aerosmith = Sellout
Well, there is only one way to find out, must buy game... lol
i'm not going to waste the 60 bucks for it, i may rent it if video connection gets it, but that's it

So wait, was he being sarcastic or truthfull then?? Cause that was some pretty bad sarcasim. lol
What i said was the definition of sarcasm jdog...
I played Guitar Hero On Tour, my sister bought it, and i was having troubles playing we're not gonna take it on expert, then i played Heaven on expert, much more fun, but painful.
My problems:
Strumming is bad
Timing seems a tad off
It's hard to tell your score or multiplier or how much star power you have
Buttons are too small and akward
And it's very painful
I have just recently rented this game, and so far, it's not that fun, a lot of the songs aren't fun, and the hammer-on system is a tad off.
Other then that, it is kinda fun when you actually get to play a song you know.
We kind of already have a topic on this. Merging.

so is all the songs aerosmith or is it other songs too?
Areosmith, bands they like, and bands they worked with, and a few songs by the lead guitarist, joe perry
One of my personal favorite songs to play on it is The aerosmith/Run DMC version of Walk This Way
Also, Train Kept a Rollin, is much harder on this game then in rock band, but overall it's the easiest guitar hero, i beat in on expert with only failing twice.
The game also features a guitar battle against joe perry, but it's laughably easy.
oh, usually the guitar battle ones in my book are the hardest ones.
At least Aerosmith is receiving mediocre reviews. Hopefully, this will send a message to Activision.
I played GH on tour... the lefty flip is insane. You can't activate star power in lefty flip-unless you press select.
How do you press select with both your hands occupied? It's not even reasonably close to the touch screen, unlike the guitar version-you can press it with your pinky, at least.
I also could not get my hand into the wrist strap comfortably-my right pinky still couldn't hit the last button very well, while the rest of my fingers would overshoot the target and be almost touching the top screen.
