Title: The Desert Colossus Game
Post by: Master Dragmire on July 01, 2008, 09:32:41 AM
Premise: Make a screenshot of your character actually in the Desert Colossus, then edit it to where it is something hilarious.
Emulators would be best for this, and if you don't know what an emulator is, than stick to your Wii/N64 and your digital camera.

Rules:
1. No profanity. Curse words allowed if used in good taste.
2. Must be funny ( the "duh" rule )
3. Look at other posts before posting to make sure your not using the same idea as someone else

I know this is kindof a weird idea, and I know that the Desert Colossus isn't the most friendly part of Hyrule, but I believe in you guys.
Guidelines:
1.Try not to go overboard with the editing. Preferably, just adding speech bubbles, or other minor details.
2. Don't go overboard in general.
3. Have fun

One question, before I get too involved in this...
What if some of us don't have a N64, and still have yet to get a wii? Ex: Me.

Emulator would be best

Thanks for putting mod edit, whoever did it.
Emulators are absolutely legal, if you have at any point owned the game.

Aren't emulators illegal (if you don't have the games, that is)? And for that matter, I think it might be against the rules to link to illegal software.

Emulators aren't illegal, to my knowledge... I think they qualify as "fair use." However, I don't think it's a good idea to link to where to get them, and definitely not to where to get games.

Actually, it's kind of a neat idea.

Listen, if you edit my post, don't take words out of my mouth.

It's completely disrespectful.
If you could, put
Mod edit:
that works too.
But don't ever, EVER, change my words, unless they're profanity, or something against the rules.
The link may have been, but I don't see that in the rules, sooo, I'm assuming Jack thought it wasn't.
Get your facts, before you make up rules.

The thing is, Dragmire, emulators, and especially ROMs/ISOs/what have you, are a real grey area in terms of copyright law. Most of them are not outright illegal, but there's still a possibility of getting into trouble for using them or even linking to sites that distribute them. Even if Jack didn't say that it was taboo to link to such websites, well, he's not here anymore, but it'd still be best to avoid any possible trouble. That's why linking to emulation websites is so strictly controlled.

I can see where you're coming from.
That's why the link isn't really a link, per say.

But, I figured that since this was a Zelda fansite, everyone here must have own OoT at own point, but it is wrong to assume things.

I'm just angry at the fact that a mod, edited my post, and put words in my mouth.

I can see where you're coming from, too; still, I think it'd be best to remove the website reference entirely and just tell people to look stuff up on Google, if just for the sake of preventing any issues from popping up in the future.
