The Desert Colossus

I just found this over at Zelda Universe while looking for a new avatar, take a look:

I think it is. It already tells us where it goes in the timeline, that Link will not be using the Master Sword or Light arrows, That there will be some sort of time limit, new enemies will appear, and that Death Mountian will not be flooded, which greatly supports the theory it becomes Dragon Roost Island after the flood. Thats quite a lot for a game that hasn't even been announced yet!

It says that there's the possibility that he will not be able to use the Master Sword or the Light Arrows.  The fact that Aonuma says it'll be much harder without them implies that it would be easier with them.  the only way to know that is if it's possible to use them in the fight.

Miyamoto said that TP would be the last Zelda game of its kind.  Maybe he meant that in the NEW Zelda games, the choices that you make can affect how the rest of the game goes?

We figured that if Hyrule has enough time to develop its kingdom, it would eventually discover the steam engine and gunpowder and such. Well gunpowder was there to begin with. We've had cannons in Zelda, so I suppose you could say that Zelda was always really in a kind of medieval-steampunk limbo.

Nice image! Obviously fake, but nice all the same! Anyways, I just thought of something. Something that could prove this whole thing wrong. Which I really don't want to do. But I must. I think everyone forgot the Castle in the protective bubble in TWW. It still looked Medieval. Not steam punk or whatever. Also, in TWW it's like hundreds of years after Hyrule is flooded.  If they're so advanced in Valley of the Flood, which I will call VotF, how come they aren't in TWW? They don't have any guns or Trains or anything in TWW! Link explored 49/xx possible islands, where xx could be any (positive, whole) integer 49 through xx+1.

And think of modern castles.  They're not fortresses, they're centerpieces.  They are now, they were thousands of years ago.  Trust me, I'm in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism, the modern middle ages), I know this kind of thing.  What WOULD'VE been fortified and 'steampunked' would've been the outer wall of Hyrule Castle Town and Castle Town Proper, which we never saw in TWW.

The races evolve and grow to adapt, many, if not hundreds of years. Without the bustling populus like Castle Town, there's no need for industrialization, or guns, seeing as how it's entirely peaceful.

On the other hand, things wouldn't necessarily revert... old technology would remain as artifacts-- for instance:  cannons?

...Unless they have Henry/Vincent's voice actors, in which case I will cry and then probably never take the series seriously again. I can totally see it, too... "hey, Zelda, you okay? e___e"

Something tells me it's not going to have the same geography as OoT. First off, he said the world was going to be massive, otherwise there'd be no need for trains.

There's a good chance that it's a fake, too. I mean, I do want it to come out (... eh, except maybe minus voice acting.) but there's always that chance.

Or that it won't be nearly as magnificent as it sounds. Not that I'm trying to be a Negative Nancy or anything.

I also love trains. Like, seriously, I would prefer trains over cars/mopeds any day.

I've already been burned by Aonuma once, so I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about this one.

That said, I do like the idea of advancing the technology in Hyrule. It definitely bridges between what we see in TP and TWW, and also has the side-effect of possibly being the greatest thing ever.

First off, I read the skepticism about how Wind Waker isn't advanced, and its supposed to take place AFTER.
Well, allow me to clarify my views on that block.
Just as in biblical times (when God flooded the Earth) everything was wiped out. Everything. Sure, WW takes place after- who's to say that all of the people and technology didn't go with the waves?

I really really hope this is real. The voice acting- maybe not so much. But the character isn't Link? I didn't like it all when I first read it. But reading on, I started to grow on the idea. It sounds cool in retrospect. I mean- I don't think they'll rule out the Master Sword completely... I think in the very end, before he fights Ganon, the Spirit of the Hero of time will grant him the power of light to his sword or something. That'd be awesome... I didn't like the idea of guns either, until I read further in. Who's to say they couldn't fire up a Deku-nut launcher? This, however, conflicts with the story-

If there are Deku-nuts, does that mean the Deku are still around? And if they are, does that mean that it couldn't have taken place After Twilight Princess, because I certainly didn't find ANYTHING Deku-like in TP (which disappointed me). Its to my understanding that it takes place before WW, but after TP right? Because TP took place 100 years after OoT. Nonetheless, they said they're implementing the apocalyptic threatening feeling that we all got out of MM, which is what made MM my favorite game of all time. I have  a feeling that even if this is a fake, Nintendo should take the idea and run with it, because honestly-

How about the Deku Baba? And I think I remember deku nuts or something being picked up after you kill them, but I could just be crazy.

Why are people saying that the technology in TWW isn't advanced? It's a lot more advanced than in any of the other Zelda games, except possibly MM and LA, which don't count for obvious reasons.

Ask them? As for my response, WW had a few advances. Telescope maybe... A mailing system... Pictograph box... I think the most technologically advanced thing in TWW was the Tingle Tuner. Somehow, the little guy mastered wireless technology.

This could either be Nintendo's greatest Zelda game ever, or it could be the worst.
I like the idea that the Hero of the story gradually becomes Link, which means, he'll talk less and less (hopefully, depending on the voice). JK.
I think the game will revolve around gathering the shards of the Triforce of Courage, which will be broken by Ganon (this is speculating).
The idea that you guys get to see me going insane should be fun.
What would really be interesting is if we could explore all of Hyrule (not the kingdom the "planet" *mummbles*), which would mean the Oracle kingdoms, new Hyrule (TP and LoZ hyrules), and whatever is on the other side of the Horseshoe that is Hyrule.

Before the great flood, the Kokiri still existed (as they became Koroks in WW). So could there be Kokiri in this game?

This works well considering Ganon is much more of a lunatic this time around. He's basically gone mad and the game's cinematics will sometimes jump to him and show this madness overpower him over the course of the game.

Would you believe him? Its basically the same concept. He says he's the second coming of their Savior, the Hero of Time, and everyone thinks he's just full of himself. Odds are, he is. I like it.

Basically, Nintendo wanted someone to help them reach their American audience, so they hired Reggie to get the attention of american conventionists.
Unfortunately, Nintendo is Japanese, so they can't really tell what Americans actually act like, and motivational speakers, hence, Reggie Fils-Aime...

One of the main reasons I hate Reggie so much is not because of what Dragmire said, which is totally true, but because people, such as COMM-E, love him so much! So my friends were arguing about the validity of the game. They say that since Wind Waker has already been released, then the great flood must have happened. So then the game is setting you up to lose? Is there any possible way to WIN THE GAME if the sequel to it shows that you lost, and the flood happened?

Here's my theory. Wind Waker is in the Adult time line. So that means that Valley of the flood would be in the Child timeline. Thats the only way this could happen.

Maybe this game will make the timline branch again?

In other words, they're only finished with their press conference. Everything we saw today was their PRESS CONFERENCE. They're not finished, they'll be showing us new titles all week.

They should still care enough to announce it at their Press conference though! I would think they would care about Zelda more than Wii-Sports Resort, but I guess I'd be wrong.
