...For me, it seems that XBox 360 is copying the Wii's Mii system through the use of things called Avatars. What do you guys think?

While I am a Nintendo nerd, I'm excited for Resistance 2... very excited, actually. And God of War 3, which, according to IGN, both are being displayed at E3 if not for a short time.
Nintendo may also announce a new or improved handheld, a possible new Zelda (probably not) and an attachment to the Wii Remote for 1:1 interaction (as in, your motions are not dlayed at all).
Got all that from IGN, I did. :)
Why is it unlikely that there won't be a new Zelda revealed?
I dunno, I just fell sort of cynical about a new Zelda. I mean of course I want one, but you know.... I just don't see it as very likely.

My thoughts exactly. They didn't appeal to the core gamer at ALL. All we got was a buttload of a bar-charts, and menopausal woman on a snowboard, an add-on for the Wii-mote and more Wii-sports. I've never been so disappointed in my life. I can only hope that they announce something within the next few days, because now- I'm pissed.
If you were paying attention to the crowd you can see they were all disappointed too. Nobody laughed at that weird lady or Reggie's jokes.
Btw, that drummer guy was awful and Shaun White didn't even look like he wanted to be there.

It's official: I now like Sega more than Nintendo. They don't even make consoles any more, but Sega cared about the gamers until the very end, and their main goal was always to make quality consoles and games. Rest in peace, Sega... you'll live on in my heart and in my gaming collection.
Now, moving on, is there any news from Sony about the PS3 yet?

This whole thing is starting to break my heart. I've been with Nintendo from the minute I laid eyes on my brand new Gamecube on Christmas in 2001. This is probably the first time I've ever considered not supporting them. I actually realize now that they don't care about their costumers. I always though Nintendo was set apart from the other game companies because they actually cared about their costumers and made games the best they could. For a while now a part of me knew they only cared about money, but I always denied it because I didn't want it to be true. It really disgusts me that they would betray all of their fans like that.

What have the majority of games for the Wii been? Shovelware, very poor versions of multi-platform games (Rock Band springs immediately to mind), and games like Wii Fit. Now look at E3: they didn't announce anything to appeal to the true gamers. Just more Wii Fit-style crap. As ZV said:

The whole Gamecube thing wasn't entirely Nintendo's fault; it was the third-party developers who were under the impression that the Gamecube was a "kid's console." Why this was, I have no clue. Nintendo still worked hard to make some quality games for it, though, and they succeeded in that regard. Most of the third-party developers that did stick with the Gamecube, however, made an effort to make their games high-quality, so there are a good number of very enjoyable third-party games for the Gamecube as well.
The Wii, however, is different. Nintendo decided to give the "casual gamer" (just a phrase for non-gamer) audience a shot, and once they saw how much money they made, they didn't care about the gamers at all any more. The third-party developers that didn't like the Gamecube had no reason to support the Wii at all now, and the small third-party companies flocked to the Wii, because they knew that no matter how little effort they put into their games, they'd still sell enough for them to make a profit, all because of the Wii label on the box.

I have to agree with COMM-E. I was disappointed, but, I haven't lost all hope in Nintendo just because they don't have any news right now. My friend gave a pretty good explanation of it, if you'll allow me to paraphrase: typically, Nintendo likes to announce games that are well into production at E3. The only reason we're seeing these games today is because they're well into production and such. So Zelda and Mario aren't far enough into production to be touted as the next best titles for Wii... it's only fair to give Nintendo some slack. I mean, we just got a new Mario game last year, and I seem to remember people thinking it was absolutely amazing. That's better than Gamecube did.
And only recently we've had new Zelda games. We're not fans who get games every year, we have to wait a good while to get new Zelda's. I was disappointed by the lack of Zelda news, but, I haven't suddenly lost all hope in Nintendo because of it. It's not like they'll stop working no Zelda forever just because in E3 '08 there was no news on a new game...
They're just video games anyways...it's not that big of a deal.

It was the end of the world for Nintendo Fanland long before E3, JQ. This pretty much just confirming that Nintendo doesn't care about anyone but the non-gamers any more.
The thing I'm mad about is that Nintendo promised they would bring new titles that would " maximize their key franchises". Since when has Wii Sports been a Key Franchise? When they said they'd be maximizing their key franchises, I thought they meant Mario, Zelda, Metriod, etc. It's not that Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metriod Prime 3, and SSBB weren't enough, it's because of the fact Nintendo promised a new Mario/Zelda/Metriod and everyone expected a new Mario/Zelda/Metriod title that everyone is mad! I don't know about you guys, but I was waiting on the edge of my seat for any Zelda news. It's just like ZV said in the Project Deluge topic, They must have some Zelda news for us!
Heh... I don't really feel like buying any Xbox 360 or PS3 games... So I'm not sure where to sit around on this here. I'm not into First person shooters or Sandbox environments, so right now the Wii and DS are getting my money. The DS, especially is getting a LOT of good games. Like remakes in 3-D of Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI, as well as Final Fantasy IV. And then there's FFTA2.
While the Wii has weak titles at the moment, the DS still looks strong for me.
The DS has been strong for a while, and I can see it continuing to be that way, in spite of all of the shovelware. Unlike the Wii, there are two titles I'm looking forward to on it: "Bangai-O Spirits" and "Trauma Center 2."

Well, so far, all I can tell is that the base-model PS3 will now have an 80 GB HDD for the same price... But does it have any backward compatibility?
Squeenix went with Microsoft in the end, if I recall correctly. Which is strange, considering I didn't watch it.
So, essentially, the PS3 is good for oldsnake and as a conversation piece. ... And Silent Hill 5, but it's coming out for the 360, as well, making it moot.
...Actually, I think I heard something about MGS4 coming to the 360, which would make the PS3 not useful for oldsnake.
MGS4 would never work on the 360 for one reason: Kojima himself said that the 50GB Blu-Ray disc isn't big enough to hold MGS4. It had to be compressed or something. If 50GB isn't enough, there's no way an 8GB Xbox 360 DVD would hold it. Just helping to kill an internet rumor here.
I hope they're packing a Dualshock 3 in with the PS3 base model... I'm almost 100% sure that they are, but still.

As I've read, there's only ONE version of the PS3 that's backward compatible with ALL PS2 hardware: The 60 GB version. And that one has been moved out of production.
PSX games should work fine though.

Yes, but... you guys went a bit overboard, no? At least in my opinion. We aren't always going to have news, things just happen that way. It was annoying not hearing any Zelda news today, at E3, but, it's kind of over-the-top to (almost?) completely lose faith in Nintendo because of it. We can't expect news at every summit, and when it doesn't come the best we can do is hope we hear more about it soon.
When they have news for us, Nintendo will deliver; they always have.
Yeah, I understand KP. We're not just upset at the lack of news though. If you'd read back at what Twilight Wolf's been getting at you'd understand. Nintendo isn't focused on the satisfaction of their gamers anymore. The fact that they're going nuts over all this Wii-fit, or as I like to call it "Wii-****" proves that they;re abandoning their core gamers, and targeting the non-gamers. We're tired of everything they're putting their time into being a cook-book for the DS, a GPS on the flight landing DS, or turning their Wii into a bowflex. They're losing sight of what made me fall in love with their games in the first place- the magic.

Duke Nukem, to my knowledge, is a shooter series... I'm not quite up to the history on the series, but I think the last released game in the series was Duke Nukem 3D for the Saturn and Playstation. There was an N64 version of that game, too, if I'm not mistaken. It was similar to Quake, if memory serves. Duke Nukem Forever, which was supposed to be the next game in the series, has been delayed for years. I think it was originally supposed to be out in the late '90s, but it never happened. From what I've heard, though, it's still under development.
Duke Nukem Forever has been 'in production' for a decade.

It seemed a lot like every other RTS game out there, just with a Halo twist to it. It seems fairly easy to get the hang of, and it makes me want an XBox so badly...

I think you might be misinterpreting the ending. It's probably just a nice way to end the series... all the loose ends were tied up in Halo 3 anyway. A Halo 4 would bring about a whole new story.

I saw the trailer and went, "Wow, this doesn't look that bad."
I heard "Free camera" and cried a little. I heard the explanation for how you find items and cried a little more. It's not going to be very scary at all- "Oh, there's that key I needed. Oh, I can see that monster behind me, lol."
Regardless, the melee attacks seem to have improved, which I'm glad for-It's not fair to make a pipe and a sword handle exactly the same.
I'm not impressed with fixing the camera, though...

Because it gets old. We know the idea already. Kill aliens, save the world, beat the game, play online. The first three times it was good, but a fourth would dry things out. You can't rely on one ending. If you beat the game on normal you learn that Master Chief is dead. Now we obviously know he's not, but if I didn't know that then I could create an entire argument on how the chief is dead.
The only reason Halo Wars will be good is because it's going to explain a lot. It will fill in the blanks. Making a fourth Halo would only (in my opinion) agrivate players and further destroy the reputation of the Halo franchise. It would be one of those games where you and your friends looked back on it and said
"Remember Halo?"
"Yeah, that game was great!"
"Until the fourth one came out."
I think that halo is over, the only things left will be answered with Halo Wars. Until then everything else is just your imagination.

So let me get this straight, you have a friend that ASSUMES there are going to be 8 halo games solely on the fact that there are 8 halo's? The purpose of Halos 1-3 was to stop the covenant from using Halo and to eradicate the flood. That was completed. There is really nothing left for the chief to do.

In all honesty, Madden games really are repetitive. But then again, so is just about every other sports game. Except for the Tony Hawk games. New levels, new plots, new parts for creating characters, new level creating pieces, new multiplayer modes, new tracklist, new deckgraphics, etc. I find those games well worth the money ^_^
Tony Hawk 3 for the Playstation was one of the first video games I ever played. I agree, they're always worth the money in my opinion and fun to play.
The whole point of the yearly Madden games is to be able to play with the most recent team roster; that's why they're so popular. If you're a die-hard football fan, you might be willing to pay for the most recent version of the game every year. That's why the Madden series is so successful.
Yea, I also said the newer version's have more feature's then they do in the previous one. Take 2006, I believe that was when you could finally start doing a carrer. and in 2007. You could take carrer to a whole new level. You could load your college carrer once you're a senior or junior grad. and take it right into the madden Carrer. I my self think that is pretty cool. Hopefully they'll have something more cool. Like NCAA football 09 has online dynasty mode(which means you can do a coaching carrer online against all your friends or other random people you may not know). I for one think the games improve a lot. And yes, I like to get the games because of the roster updates, but they don't always update the rosters perfectly, like ryan mallet left michigan, yet in the game, he still plays for them. But oh well. still a great game! I hope madden 09 has the same success. And I see Brett Farve finally made the cover. :D

I agree with Shika, I dont think it was all that bad. Its not new news when others systems get the better end of the deal. I hardly even touch my DS. Im looking into things like X-Box 360. That system and the PS3 we're treated like kings.
The thing is, though, we were promised games for the hardcore gamer. The most hardcore we got was the new Animal Crossing game.
Well Im sorry to say that I have a firm belief that Nintendo is not that T for teen. Talking to Animals and paying mortgage to a raccoon is about as hardcore as it gets. Trust me, you ever seen that raccoon's mortgage payments? HUGE.
The game doesn't have to be rated "T." Look at Super Mario Galaxy! That was an "E" game, but it's a lot of fun for all kinds of gamers! Not to mention it didn't have motion-control overkill like so many Wii games do now...
Galaxy IS a good example but either way, its not exactly a (in my opinion) the kind of hardcore game people want. I think there are people that still cling to the idea that Nintendo will release something like Silent Hill or Call of Duty. I think when we were promised HARDCORE games people took it the wrong way. And we have to take into consideration that even people like Miyamoto get artist's block. Maybe the company is running out of ideas?
When Nintendo promises "hardcore" games, they usually mean something in the neighborhood of Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, or Mario.
A key Nintendo franchise, basically. If you want games that are really hardcore, like Call fop Duty or Street Fighter, sorry to say, but Nintendo isn't the place to go.

I... uh, it's not really related to E3 itself, but.... i'm ttly lookin forward to that game right there. Since, you know, it's so similar to Silent Hill.
Amazon.com is pretty dumb sometimes... Of course, maybe that says something about the people who buy Silent Hill games... Except for you, of course.

Honest to god I've never played silent hill. I've seen the movie and read about the game but I've never played.
Well, for some reason or another, my internet crashes whenever I try to go to the site I had the Shigeru quote, so to paraphrase:
Shigeru says that they (Nintendo) won't be using e3 to appeal to the core gamer anymore and will instead use it to appeal to a broader audience with Wii add-ons.
Then maybe their using that big Japanese "e3" as a way to get things across?
