I'm not sure exactly where to put this. I'd put this in the Warnings List, but I don't want to double post.
Anyway, it has been agreed among the mods and Gamefreak that should anyone receive a second warning, that warning will expire in two months instead of the usual one month.
Just as a heads-up. We've noticed that certain people are getting sets of two warnings rather frequently, and it has been decided that the penalties be more severe.
Ah, I just got back from a party and was about to post this.
Good job on the pre-emptive strike Magmar.
Happytime Harley, or whoever the heck you call yourself, you know as well as I do that we do not spam outside the Chatboard or Forum Games, much less inside the Announcements section. You get another warning, and if the previous one you got didn't ban you, this certainly will.
Good-bye, HH.
My only concern is if a member will keep getting warnings, but timing them so that they never have three warning at once. If that could happen, we'd be in the exact same boat as we were when medli was here. Perhaps the mods should vote on whether that member should be banned or not instead of waiting for them to slip up and get a third warning? Just a suggestion...
Well yes, that's always a possibility. Same with things that are so severe that they deserve to bypass the warning system, and go straight to banhood.
Things such as hacking, posting another person's personal information without their consent, blackmailing, posting links to highly offensive materials without proper warning (examples include goatse, meatspin, lemon party, 2girls1cup, tubgirl, the Pain Series, any kind of pornography, NIMP.org, etc.).
Is that what Happytime did?
Aye, he posted a link to NIMP, the most vile of them all. It's full of all kinds of shock pics, sound files shouting, "HEY EYERYONE, I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!" (which is admittely moderately funny), viruses, and Javascript that makes it so that the window runs away when you try to close it.
:\
VIRUSES?! OH CRAP!
(runs off to make a system scan)
Anyway, I'm a bit neutral on this. Somethings have to be done in order for some members to take a hint.

Luckily my computer froze up right when I clicked that link.
Thats what happened to my comp too. I shut it down the second I couldn't exit.
I just plain didn't click on it.
I took everyone's word for it, and in turn, I could have saved my computer.

great idea this will stop users from breaking the rules.
By no means will it stop rule-breaking. This is more of a measure taken to give members more incentive to follow the rules.

Back when Zeldaland.net was up, we were having a problem with that, too. We were also having a problem with spam-bots posting porn, so we had to become really strict and we made it very clear in the rules that if you post stuff like that even once, you're banned.
The only thing I don't completely understand is the fact that once you're banned, you're gone. There is this one forum I joined recently that runs kinda like the punishment system we have. You can see the rules of this forum here (http://serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=364266).
Now I'm not trying to make you change the whole thing. I'm just asking why we are so different. So strict.
It's the way Jack wanted it, I guess. Nothing more to it.
We rarely ban people. So when we ban someone, you know they're someone we really don't want back.
I never realized they have forums. I go there all the time.
Anyway, It may be better that we're more strict. That's just more protection from harmful things.
Yeah... ;) I agree with you, but it just seems a little harsh...

That may not necessarily be true. People make mistakes, and sometimes they simply stack up-- especially now that we have more, younger members and the two-month for second warning rule.
I personally feel that as the forums change and grow, so should the ban rules.
We may need to discuss this depending on how events turn out.
Well, lets face it- Jack isn't coming back this time. He left it in our hands, and I'll be damned before we let him down. If we're going to start deciding on new ban rules, we'll need to have a serious discussion about it.
That may be true. But, is it going to have to be between the mods, or will all of us have to get involved?
The mods will discuss it privately, and we'll see from there.

Ah, darn. Just like the government. Always keeping us in the dark, until the day they plan to surprise us. Not that the mods are anything like the government! ;) Ehehe...
Okay, keep it spam-free now...
