Title: We interrupt this advertisement to BLOW YOUR MIND
Post by: Keaton on August 29, 2008, 02:49:30 PM
For MM-- imagine that Link didn't travel through space and/or dimensions to Termina, but rather traveled through time.

I mean, it would make everything a lot easier to understand and all that.  I'm looking for more proof, and anyone else wishing to contribute is welcome.

For instance--

I can honestly say I've never even considered this possibility before.

My mind is blown.

You seem to be forgetting there is already a moon in the sky in TP!

Hmm, forgot about that detail... Complicates things a bit, doesn't it?

Termina is a different dimension though, isn't it? So it shouldn't make much sense. Unless this is suggesting that the landforms of Hyrule and Termina are linked, no matter what happens in the universes outside these lands. I think. I dunno. This whole concept is just warped.

I believe it's written in the official manual of the game that Termina is an alternate dimension...

Wait, what if Twilight Princess takes place in this same dimension?

Conspiracy!

Exactly, there's no saying where any of the other games are, only that they're in Hyrule.  Wouldn't it help to clear up (or complicate) the timeline if there were multiple Hyrules?

Also, as for the moon, we've already established in MM that the moon is a fake one created by
the Mask itself
, so it's only logical that a real moon should be lurking around there somewhere.

Established by who? You?

Established by the game.

The scene after you've beaten the four dungeons and you're on the clock tower for the final time.

I just watched that particular scene, and I didn't see anything suggesting that wasn't the real moon.

If I overlooked it, just tell me what you're talking about.

I distinctly remember hearing Tatl (or Tael, a fairy nonetheless) saying, "Then that moon...?"

Instead of "the" moon, "that" moon.

Also, the fact that the moon came alive saying, "I... I shall consume... consume... consume everything" and that it was later destroyed sort of implies that it was a false moon.  Maybe I'm just overthinking everything.  I hate myself now.

I figured it was the real moon because you can't see another moon in the background anywhere at night the way you can with the sun during the day.

Well, I'm sure that that was part of the illusion of the mask.  However, it's impossible to know unless there was a "Night of a New Day" sequence that showed the sky... which there's not...

Then again, compare the moon in MM to the one in OoT.  They look nothing alike, the one in MM is much more pockmarked and, you know, has a face.

I don't know. Does anybody in the game make mention of the fact that the moon suddenly has a face? That seems like something somebody might notice and comment on.

I remember a bunch of people talking about it getting closer, but they seemed oddly quiet about the face...from what I remember, of course.

The moon with the face could have been fake and the real moon could have been a new moon.  Remember, MM takes place during a three day period, and that's about how long a new moon lasts.

Also, since one of the fairies said "That moon" instead of "The moon," it could indicate that there were actually two moons in the sky of Termina.  It's possible, but not likely at all.
