Title: I think TDC might be infecting my computer.
Post by: Mysterious F. on August 30, 2008, 04:39:06 PM
Seriously, it actually might be. Every time I've been on TDC today (whether the home page or the forums), this thing shows up saying a threat is detected, and it pops up everytime I go to a new TDC page. (So when I post this topic and end up back in General Discussion, it will show up again). Apparently, the threat is a trojan horse.

Additionally, this also started today: the TDC banner no longer shows up, just "The Desert Colossus" and "If you're seeing this, you need to install Flash to see our new banner!" Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Oh, that's me.  I'm infecting your computer.  You should stay away from me.

Er... I don't know what it could be.  Your computer probably has AIDS.

Your computer is paranoid, plain and simple. McAfee SiteAdvisor finds no problems with this website, and I've never had an issue with any malware threats here.

Which web browser are you using, and what anti-virus software do you have?

For some incredibly odd reason, it hasn't happened today while I've been on. That's strange...

Your anti-virus/browser security software may have just been wigging out that day. If it happens again, though, let us know.

McAfee thinks it's safe, as well.

Come to think of it, didn't someone here find TDC on a Google search and the result said that it could pose a risk to your computer?

Guys. This could be the work of...FIREFOX 3.

Jokes aside, my McAfee also says it's safe. No problems here. And as for your question, TW, I'm not sure... Might be, but then again, it's all a blur to me.

Clearly you're all vagrants, cutthroats, h4xz0rz, and undesirables, and I regret ever dealing with your kind.

I found this when searching da googs for that silly quote in Commodore Murphy's signature.

This is probably why Whocares' computer was wigging out.

My computer was doing the same thing a couple of days ago. It got so annoying that I just logged out for the next couple of days.

Guys, it's just the script that checks to see if you have Flash for the banner. For some reason AVG Anti-Virus was marking it as a trojan. It's perfectly safe though, in fact apparently AVG fixed the problem in its most recent update. Google doesn't seem to be showing us as being dangerous now, either.

Anyways, if it keeps happening just tell me, and I can probably fix it by updating the script. But it's a pain to do it, so, only if it keeps happening, which it shouldn't.
