Title: Tenchi Muyo!
Post by: Keaton on August 31, 2008, 09:26:08 PM
Awesome show, from back in the days when anime was still a sacred undefiled thing.  I love it so much words fail to describe it.

And Ryoko... I would do horrible, unmentionable things to Ryoko.

I would like to watch that show.

Too bad [adult swim] is on the path of fail.  If they weren't, they could be showing us quality anime and not crap shows like "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job" or something like that.

I do have to give them credit for airing Code Geass, though.

Hate to break it to you, but Tim and Eric is an awesome show.  Same with Fat Guy Stuck in Internet and ATHF.

Fat Guy Stuck in Internet surprised me. I thought it was stupid until I watched it. Then I realized it was stupid AND funny. The Tim and Eric show sucks big fat hairy moist circular sweaty cookies.

It's an acquired taste, like wine or ZV.

I suppose it is, Tacheon.  But I cannot bring myself to stomach it.  Have fun with your craptacular show.  I'll be watching teh Family Guy.

I too feel AdultSwim is on the wrong path. It's shows like Tim and Eric and Fat Guy that are destroying comedy and filling it with tastelessness. AdultSwim, give us high-quality anime and not crap.  >:(

Also, Tacheon, anime is like movies: they will keep changing styles over and over again with no ends. The 1950s was filled with science fiction films of aliens fighting Earth, reflecting on the fears many people felt of Soviet invasion. Today, anti-war films are becoming popular because of opposition to the Iraqi War. Many of today's films are also aimed at teenage/college audiences, as well. The style of anime you liked as a kid will be repaced years later. And there are modern anime masterpieces, such as Death Note and the anime film Spirited Away. A lot of it also has to do with censorship in the US for more mature material than what "should" be shown to people that age, too.

It's not my fault the Japanese can tell a good story.

A curse on you, Shigeru Miyamoto, for infecting us with the Japan bug.  Oh, and all you other Japanese guys I have neither the time nor space to name.
