Title: When will they stop?!?
Post by: Gamefreak on September 21, 2008, 06:53:42 PM
QuoteIt looks like a new musically inclined hero is in town. This time, you won't be brandishing a guitar, drum set, or even a microphone. Instead, DJ Hero will let you play with your own turntable and mash-up some wicked tunes in the latest rhythm-based video game title from Activision Blizzard.

An anonymous source from MTV News confirmed that the newly trademarked DJ Hero will soon be seeing action. Gameplay includes scratching up popular mash-ups using a specialized turntable peripheral, created just for the game.

It has been noted that the new title is turning out to be a "licensing nightmare". However, due to the merger with Vivendi, Activision Blizzard now has direct access to the Universal Music Group, hopefully easing the transition of getting popular licensed brands into the game.

DJ Hero may not be the first of its kind (with Beatmania debuting on arcades and the PS2 a while back), but it will be interesting to see what a rhythm game based on a DJ setup will look like on the next-gen platform. In any case, we'll be keeping an eye out for any new updates regarding this new title.

Seriously, now they're copying off Konami

next thing you know it's going to be "Quiet Mountain," in which you play a troubled man looking for his daughter. He loves his daughter, with short, black hair, and is the only thing he has to remember his lost wife.

or "Solid Aluminum," in which you play Soft Turtle, a super secret spy. Some of the other colourful characters include Onicon, a silly otaku named after an anime convention, and Liquid Turtle.

It's copied off of Beatmania. Plus it's a stupid idea in the first place...

Not to mention Revolver Cougar.

I quite agree with this sentiment.

As for a new rhythm-based game....meh.

This, my friends, is what you would call "milking the franchise." Why does it matter if Activision is going the same route as Disney?

I figured I had to step in here. While the title is rather...idiotic. The game sounds like this foreign game I played at AFO. It's exactly like guitar hero except you use a turn table and some keys. It's pretty fun. I've never heard of Beatmania, it may be what I just described. But I digress. It will probably be fun.
