This story made me angrier than you could know.

Life sucks, God's a fraud, the government is doing all it can to hold us back, and McCain is going to win for president.  Everything's going to hell, man.  That's the way life is.

I guess so. I just wonder how we've strayed so far off a path that had been made so clear for hundreds of years. America faught an entire war against itself to show that everyone is equal. And now a 6 year old child is too scared to even go to church, in fear of being bombed by chemical gasses. And a 7 year old crying her self to sleep, begging to go back to her old country.

Why is there evil in the world?  Why does God not simply will it away?
Is he willing, but not able?  Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?  Then he is malevolent.
Is he neither able nor willing?  Then why call him God?

I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere else before, but I can't remember.

As for the article....Well, it's just one of the things that doesn't make me too proud to be an American.

This stuff happens everywhere though. As long as you have two people on earth, there's never going to be complete peace. I'm not saying it's a good thing, just saying worse happens elsewhere. Still, it's terrible.

Makes me feel the same way. We constantly promote peace, and promise that you'll be better off here than where youe where. But then you get here and BAM! Your classified into a racist clique.

That's true as well. I remember learning about this historical figure that said that, as long as one man could claim something, and another man could want it. Then there would never be peace.
Something along those lines.

My theory is that he created Earth and the Human race in order to see what we could do. How could we handle things? You see, he's able but not willing because he wants to see how we respond to the problem. When disaster strikes he either wants to see what we'll do or is trying to teach us a lesson. I mean, what would be the point in creating us if he was going to solve all of our problems while we sit back and relax. He would've just created more work for himself!

:-* That was a mouthful.

I think it's that He's being just. Yes, it sounds like a paradox, but listen to me: God is going to get rid of the evil eventually, but He's willing to be merciful and give people second chances to change their ways. If they were instantly sent to Hell for being evil, then others would think of him as not merciful because they did bad things, and they would have to be sent to Hell, too. After all, if He's not willing to give some people second chances, then why the heck should He bother to give the rest of us second chances?

Besides, a lot of the bad stuff that happens to us is something we brought upon ourselves.

It's impossible to do NOTHING bad. Thats the only reason that rules was made.

Well, they're doing an awfully good job of preventing people from doing bad things, aren't they? Also, I'm quite sure rules would be made to define what's "bad" before they happen.

And he didn't want us all to go to Hell. He would be lonely.

so what you're saying is, we're his lab rats. he just watches and observes us until the end...

that made me so happy... :(
