I got pulled from art because I drew a mushroom on my art folder. It was reported to the S.A.F.E. advisery and to my parents. Considered by my art techer as "Drug Propaganda". Im bummed. Really bummed. Art is my life. My parents tried to fight it, but the school said that even though my intent may not have been to advertise drugs, it was taken as a possibility. :'( :(

Anyways, I'm sorry that happened. Despite how stupid it is, there's nothing us "kids" can do to fight it. I guess we'll just have to wince and take another hit... I don't mean that in any drug-abusive way... I meant take another punch. There, thats better.

That's a retarded point of view. Mushrooms come in all shapes and sizes and only a couple actually contain psychedelics.
Couldn't say it better myself, JQ and ZV. It's because of your lack of intent of it being taken that way should it still be allowed. Just because other people have diluted minds on the matter doesn't mean everyone with artistic ability like you should have to suffer for it.

I know you didn't mean it that way. I was trying to illustrate a parallel between Takun getting kicked out of art class for drawing a mushroom and you getting a fake warning for saying something that could have been interpereted as a drug reference, and how both don't make any sense. Apparently I screwed that up.

Being an art student myself, I think this is utter .... uh, expletive. Utter expletive indeed. You see, censoring people and art only festers the wound, not making the hate/drugs/etc. stop.
That being said, someone in a class got sent to the office for "shooting gang signs." He was doing the sign language for buttsex. To quote him, "I don't want to be a member in that gang. :c"

...Dude! That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! I eat PIZZA with mushrooms! And the Minish live in mushrooms! But they're not "advertising drugs!" ??? Art is your life, how dare they take that away from you! If you can't take an art class, that means you can't get possible scholarships to art colleges! That's totally bull! This isn't even my problem but I'm pissed off too! >:(

I can't think of anything else if his parents already complained. If he really didn't care if things got shaken up, I'd take it up with the person with higher power. Say "I have a passion for art. If I can't take any art classes that will show colleges my talents, I won't get any scholarships and that won't make paying for college any easier especially in the economic crisis."

Sorry to hear of your loss, Takun. On the bright side, though, you're out of an environment where your harmless artwork can be misinterpreted as "inappropriate." I could understand concern if the teachers saw you drawing a syringe or a bong or something, but a mushroom? Give me a freakin' break. It's crap like this make me glad to not be a part of the public school system. How did these "educators" become so paranoid?
Sorry I've been off line for so long. Anywho, here's an update. I was able to get back into art by printing out some articles on famous mushroom artists that had no drug intent. As well as printing out an article and picture on this glowing japanese mushroom. Since she told me that the glowing I drew in the picture was a sure sign that it was a drug.
