I'm going to be making Tacheon an admin temporarily to help me figure out some stuff on the admin panel. So, I'm posting this now to avoid questions later.
Just in time! We have a spam bot invasion that needs taken care of.
working on it, sir.
Sweet relief! Glad to hear our problem will be remedied shortly!
Finally, some good news on this crisis.
Tacheon will fix this spambot mess for sure. Just don't go too crazy with your new power, okay, Tach?
Shh! Don't give him ideas!
Anyway, Gamefreak, what will happen to the site when you can't get onfor a long amount of ime? How about whenever you don't log in for a three weeks, the site automatically gives admin powers to someone to take over when you're absent, like Mags?

Do
you have the code for that?
That's pretty much not an option-- if he is going to be gone for an extended period of time, he'll promote someone (Mags) in advance.
I meant, like, he didn't plan on being gone that long, but his computer was broken or something and he couldn't get on.
It's a good basic idea, Whocares, but it sounds like it'd be a bit too complicated to implement. If he's really needed, as in a forum emergency, someone can contact Dr. Rabies and have him pass the message on to Gamefreak; then he'll find a way to get online.

Unless GF is away from his home, too.
If that happens, we can always contact....

Jack
We don't know how, and he rarely ever gets on.I had to call him on the phone last time (and got in trouble) in order to assign Gamefreak administrator.
How about we get kamikaziplumber to tell him? He would know how to contact Jack. Or we could just make his another administrator, too?

Yeah, there's that option, too. Of course, if Gamefreak's going to be gone for an extended period of time with no access to the forums, he could promote someone to Admin while he's gone, as has been suggested before.
Also, Whocares, there was talk of KP becoming an Admin before, and if I recall correctly, he himself was against it.
Kamakaziplumber has also been appointed as a temporary administrator to help with the system update.
Hooray!
I was against becoming an admin Twillight Wolf, but, a full admin, not a temp one to help with stuff like this. 'sall good.
I'll get to updating I suppose. I can see why there were problems: for some reason the Admin Center doesn't offer the upgrade link it's supposed to. Probably because we upgraded from YaBB SE. I will upgrade now.
The forums might be down for a bit while I do this. Fear not! It is only temporary...
EDIT:: Making a backup of the files before I do any upgrading.
I still think that, in case of emergency, we should have a chosen member take on admin duties when none of the administrators are on.
We already came to a consensus that MagmarFire would do that.
And if none of you are capable of getting on and making him admin, what will we do?
Just because you don't understand the contingency system doesn't mean it's not in place, Whocares. Don't you worry, everything's under control.
Besides, I found out today that it only takes a couple clicks to make someone an admin.
It takes all of one minute at best.
Da da da daaaaaa!
Forum software has been upgraded. Captcha is next!
Everyone say "Thank you, KP"!
THANK YOU KP!
SO! When are we going to delete the bots?
Having some trouble with the reCAPTCHA mod... ;) Should be working soon, I hope.
Any other modifications anyone wants added? Or no?
Just because you're special doesn't mean that you get to double-post, JQ :P
I'm deleting a bunch as we speak, I'm considering doing the same thing we did last time with the zero-posters and whatnot.
I wouldn't mind an addition that says I'm a paid staff member... ;)
Thanks, KP, Tacheon, and Gamefreak! Glad you guys got it taken care of! ;D
And anything about lieking mudkipz would be fine with me, thanks. ;)
My sincere thanks to everyone involved in this process!
We appear to have lost our Link smileys.
:-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
They still seem to work.
They aren't Link smileys now though. They're normal smileys.
They're there for me...

Looks like they work for me, too.
Maybe it's Firefox vs. Internet Explorer?
I'm using Opera, actually.
I THINK IT'S FIREFOX 3
I'm using IE though.
Ah... ahhhh.
I FINALLY DID IT.
I had to manually edit most of the code, but I installed reCAPTCHA. WOOT. Now... back to the homework I neglected so that I could do this.
Any other modifications will have to wait. It's not as easy as I thought to install them on these forums, as apparently there's a problem with the PHP Safe Mode. Argh.
So the reCAPTCHA will keep the bots away, correct?
If so, jubilations! You, KP, are the hero of TDC!
Well, if it was hard for KP to do it, it makes me feel a bit better about not knowing what I was doing at all.
Thank you Tacheon, and KP. I owe you two big.
Don't worry about it, just doing my part and all that.
I'm sure KP did so much more than I did anyhow.
You didn't even know what you were doing?!?!?!?!?!? :o :o
I basically only had to copy and paste things. >.> But it was harder than it should have been.
So is mission scripting for Star wars Battlefront II.

And that's our cue.
This has been resolved and all that jazz, so *lock*
