Title: Clan Central
Post by: darkphantomime on November 18, 2008, 07:07:36 PM
How's it going guys? Any of you working on your questions yet? I've got one of mine, and twilight wolf is being lazy.

DW and I are a bit lazy, too. We haven't discussed much yet. *whistles*

I am working on questions, you know. Thing is, though, they're tough to come up with, especially if they need to be on the caliber of yours, JQ.

You guys should totally use your respective boards to figure this stuff out, after all, no one else can see the boards except us until we get through with the clan stuff and inviting.

So, I'm not supposed to be able to see this then?

Is Wyndisis even on often enough for you to discuss clan matters with him, Mags?

No, it's just the individual clan boards. This is a public board so far.

Don't worry, HNS.

Aw.  I was hoping to be put on Santa's naughty list. T_T

But then you wouldn't get any presents!

We should probably cut back on the spam, now, just in case this board is treated like "General Discussion."

I dunno. PMs should help out with that...when I feel up to sending one, that is. Darn you, laziness! D:

I wrote the intro for our clan, so DJ kind of put the pressure on Shika for the questions- however, if he wants me to do that too, I will. He is the leader after all >.>

(like how I'm screwing with his mind here?)

Will the questions be about Zelda? How will you stop people from Googling the answer?
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: darkphantomime on November 18, 2008, 10:04:37 PM
Yeah they'll definitely be about Zelda. Of course, there's no way to prevent people from googling the answer. We're Just hoping you actually play fair.

Or we'll ask opiniated questions that you can't find in an e-textbook.

Davy Jones suggested open ended questions.
I'm not against that idea.

Post by: Keaton on November 19, 2008, 08:43:43 AM
Yes, please make the open-ended so that people don't just cheat by using google.

Also, to let you know, this board (but not the clans themselves) do count in terms of increasing post count.

What's the difference between open-ended and opinionated? ;)

I hardly see how you made that connection.
All it means is that we'll ask questions, and not provide a multiple choice. They will be zelda related, but they won't be obvious so that people can't look them up on the web.

Post by: Mysterious F. on November 20, 2008, 06:21:26 PM
By obvious do you mean "Who is Ganon?" or "What is the item that King Zora gives you in Ocarina of Time during the Adult Trading Sequence?" or, even worse, "How many pictures of dragons do you see in the Dragon Roost Dungeon in The Wind Waker?"
Title: Re: Clan Central

No, no, no, more like a battle scene.
They tell you what they would do in a certain situation.
We analyze if they use a defensive strategy, an offensive strategy, or if they use magic. Kinda get what I mean?
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: Mysterious F. on November 20, 2008, 06:29:20 PM
That's actually a good idea. That way just plain old Zelda knowledge won't get you in, you actually have to fit in with he crowd.

Well, this means I won't fit into Defense at all.

So anyway, magic would be, like items, right? Like Boomeangs and magic seeds?
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: cacturnerules on November 20, 2008, 06:38:22 PM
Well then, what game would the battle be from? like... simple like LTtP, or more complicated like twilight princess?

and, can't you just like lie about what they would do in a battle to get in a specific clan?

and so, to my understanding, you are asked what you would do in a specific battle situation, then put into a clan, based upon your answer? If that's right, then you really don't need to contact a clan mod, do you?
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: Keaton on November 20, 2008, 07:17:36 PM
I suppose you'll all find out once you PM someone for the questions, now won't you?  The whole point of them is that they are open to interpretation, after all.
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: Zelda Veteran on November 20, 2008, 07:20:03 PM
Look.
It would be something simple like:

QuoteYou're wandering the depths of the Lost Woods. As you make your way through the thicket, a bush shifts up ahead. Suddenly, a Mad-Scrub appears. It fires a deku-nut at you. What would you do?

Now obviously, we're not going to use that one, because most people would say "lololol rly? yooz a sheeld, evry Zleda fan noes thst!1"

We're going to have to make it a bit deeper than that...
hmm...

That'd be too obvious though, too easy to fix which clan you get into.

Hold on a minute. What happens if like, nobody joins one of the clans, or like, one has twice as many members as the others?
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: DW on November 21, 2008, 07:03:50 AM
Then the clans are unbalanced. Geeze, kid.
Title: Re: Clan Central

If one clan has too many members, then we will stop allowing people to join that clan.  duh.

well, see now? Shika just said so what and Davy Jones said we'll put a stop to it.

Alright then. If a clan gets too many people, the can is off limits. Got it.

I am in doubt as to whether you'll be able to pass any of the tests, FR. As I"ve heard, you've not even played any zelda at all!

You understand the general gist.  I made a typo.  Keep this up and you'll get a warning.

Soooooooooooo...

Any updates on the clans? Nothing much has happened with them for the past week. And I still have a few questions:

What are the tests really going to be like? 'Cause If they were open-ended, people can lie, or people could just google trivia, so...?

What makes the clans different? Why would someone want to join one over another?

Who should we ask to be in a clan? If it's open ended, and you tell the clan's mods you want to join them, They know you will cheat to be with them.

When will they be ready? I don't want me (or anyone really) to ask to join a clan and be pushing them to finish the tests, but...

And finally, what do you do in the clans? Like, you get the sig, so then what do you do?
Title: Re: Clan Central
Post by: Mysterious F. on November 27, 2008, 07:25:17 PM
They're really just going to imagine battle scenarios and see what exactly you do. If your answers fit with the clan's overall theme, then you're in.

Tey'll merely join one specific clan out of personal taste. If someone goes through the games wth a defensive strategy, they are right for the Defense Clan.

You ask the mods assigned to a specific clan to take the clan's test.

They'll be ready when they're ready. Simple as that.

The clan system was merely created in order to attact more attention to the forums and make the monthly average number of posts increase. As Gamefreak has already said, you don't have to join a clan if you don't want to.

You really should only make posts that are relevant to the topic, yu know.

How about we all stop making post asking them if they're done yet? When they're done, they will announce it, so there's no need to ask.

Whocares, I hope you realize your post was just as irrelevant to the topic on hand as his was.  The mods are mods so that they can moderate.  Rent-a-modding is discouraged for a reason.

But yes, please allow more downtime for the clan system.  I am sure you have a life or something to attend to in the meantime.
