Mine is Lapras it's so cute, and please no mudkip jokes... Too much time in the chatboard does some things to your mind... :-X
My favorite was always Jolteon. It has great speed and learns all the essential electric attacks and pin missle as well, making it a strong opponent to psychic Pokemon.
Chimeco. I trained mine to be a beast and when I fought with friends, they would be overconfident because it looked harmless :)
Glalie. Other than it being very hard to get, and that it's epic looks strike fear into your very soul, it is an excellent combination of ice and dark. It learns many Powerful moves like crunch and sheer cold. It can also be taught a variety of moves like earthquake and shadow ball. It has uber Special attack, attack, and speed. It pwns ice, flying, dragon, ghost, dark, grass, and ground. It's super effective against 3 of the 5 of the Pokemon league in R, S and E, too.
Joteon is kewl, Chimeco... Not so much... And they just had to give it a pre evolve form... Nothing against The thing tho. I like Lapras cause of it's kick butt stats, and ability to learn Sheer Cold. I taught it Thunder too. Arrgh another post, Glalie is just too hard to find to be useful, not saying Lapras isn't, But Lapras has only one bad stat and it's speed and it's still over 130 at level 100. Also what good is Milotic?
As far as my favorite pokemon goes, I have to say Duskull. He looks like a little grim reaper, and it makes me smile. I like ghost pokemon to begin with, so there you go. His two evolutions make me cringe, however.

"Too rare to be useful"? What's that supposed to mean? All pokemon are useful, doesn't matter how rare they are. You're not talking about their real useful abilities when you say they're rare, are you?
Mine... I'm not sure...
Okay, so my favourite forever has been Arcanine- I love him in Red and Blue and stuff. I also liked Meowth, but... he's not as cool now.
Then pokemon Diamond came out and I said, "blargh, these pokemon suck."
...However, I've taken to loving Luxio and Skuntank like they are my children. Luxray isn't that cool, in my opinion.
I've always had a big liking for Growlithe. I dunno, maybe I think he's CUTER than Arcanine (Fisk >.>) but he always seemed to do well for me. Also liked...I think Flareon was my favorite Eevolution.
Snorlax just wins.

You trying to say a level 2 magikarp could be helpful? And i'm saying that it's too rare to be useful like you can't find it if you want to.
Lots of pokemon are rare or frustratingly rare, but that makes them all the more coveted. That they're useful in battle is the point, rarity doesn't matter when it comes to finding the right pokemon, it just takes patience.
Every pokemon (Aside from magikarp that is...) has a use and specialty. You just have to train it properly with the right moveset. You'd be surprised at the movesets people have given to rare and common pokemon alike to make them extremely useful in given situations.
My favorite Pokemon? Oddish. It's just that adorable. :D

Agreed.
I often fill up a sixth slot on my team for a normal swiss-army-knife type pokemon. Teach them flamethrower, ice beam, thunderbolt, and a move that works well for them- slash, mega punch, etc.
My Skuntank knows Toxic (poison), Night Slash (dark), Flamethrower (fire) and Earthquake (ground), working effectively to take down varied types, or just being a pain in the butt.
I used to absolutely adore Pikachu back when Pokemon cards and the show were all the rage at school, but after actually playing a few of the games... I don't know. I really like Charizard since I have such fond memories of raising him from a Charmander and then beating the crap out of any opponent that dared challenge me, but then my copy of "Blue" erased itself and my progress.
I like Raichu better than pikachu. I have a very balanced team, It is: Lapras, Pidgeot, Luxray, Torterra, Rapidash, and a filler pokemon, Usually my Gengar, But i'm training a togepi to Togekiss for a Para-Flincher.

That usually happens because the internal memory battery dies. Taking apart the cart and replacing the battery with a soldering iron should fix that.
I know, and I know the procedure, too. (Haven't done it before, but I've learned how just in case I ever wanted to.) However, I played it again after that (started a new file) and it was okay... might still be. Haven't checked in years.
I hated pokemon yellow. It was stupid. I boxed pikachu quick.
Aww... why you do that?
Maybe they should have included the ability to catch wild pikachu because MAN. You could never get a Raichu. :(
I love me A raichu tho. I know the reason they made Yellow and it's stupid. People thought the games should be more like the show. YOOHOO Games came first people.

Case in point: Wobbuffet.
Anyway, for me, do I
really need to say it? :P
No, You need not. Wobbuffet Kills, OMG like the best trick pokemon ever. It's ability gives it power of a exotic pokemon.
Magmar and Electabuzz never really looked like pokemon to me, personally- neither do Dialga or Palkia. They look like digimon or something. It's odd.
OH. AND I ALMOST FORGOT NIDOKING. I love Nidoking. And Aggron.
ANYWAY. I guess I may as well say my teams here, I'm very proud of them...
FireRed:
Amni (Blastoise)
Prince (Pidgeot)
Toki (Primape)
Swisgaar (Kadabra)
Stopsign (Arcanine) (main)
Ranchero (Raichu)
Emerald:
Yttrium (Aggron)
Jehova (Linoone)
Rue (Rayquaza) (haha, this is cheating)
Solace (Absol) (main)
Textile (Breloom)
My uh, Swampert. He has a funny name I can't say here.
Diamond:
Aviv (Empoleon)
Vodka (Luxray) (main)
Gravity (Kadabra)
Nova (Staraptor)
Reverse (Skuntank) (She was a Toxic-Shuffler)
Kibble (Skuntank, I just taught it all the HMs)
soon to get:
Reverend (Lucario) or
Taxon (Tyranitar)
Skuntank is a great HM Dump
2 other favorites of mine are Starmie and Rotom. They both have a nice mix of types (water and psychic, and electric and ghost). Although, It is a pain in the buttockses to get and train rotom. You have to beat the champion, so that you can get him at level 15. He needs less EXP than average pokemon, but it's still very annoying to get him up to lv. 70 like the others.
(http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t177/RatedPSP/Starmie.gif) (http://pkmn.net/games/dp/rotom.png)
It's almost impossible to catch him too. You go there with a team of like level 70's and can't attack or it'll die... :-X
I just used teh kwik balz.
Those only work well for 3 turns. I caught it with an ultra ball. Luckily a had an excess of money and bought over 100... Rotom isn't an Exotic BTW.

So umm... use a lower-leveled team? /stupid answer
My all time favorites (big dragon fan):
This is also a majority of my usual main team.
Dragonite:
Charizard:
Gyarados:

Aerodactyl:

Ampharos:

Alakazam
(http://archives.bulbagarden.net/w/upload/thumb/c/cc/065Alakazam.png/140px-065Alakazam.png)
Well alot of people mindlessly examine the Tv when they see it (Like me. ::)) I will share with the the extremely strange names of mai pokemons. No hatin'.
Lara the lapras
Luxa the luxray
Nora the Rapidash
Pidge the (Extremely AWSUM) Pidgeot
Groll The torterra
And Gena the gengar
All are female except for Groll. (Darn 25% chance of female starter...Makes it that much harder to breeed...) I also posted my friend code on the friend code board. I also love ampharos. Who remembers the good times when, Whenever someone had hyper beam they were feared by all? Now we have all kinds of other moves.
Ampharos was one of my favorite generation II Pokemon. I think I had a pretty powerful one in my Silver game, but the file got deleted. Since we are discussing mains now, my Blue team is:
Charizard (picked him because of the inavailability of Growlithe/Arcanine in Blue)
Gyarados
Jolteon
Mewtwo (recently replaced Kadabra)
Graveler (haven't traded with myself to evolve it into Golem yet)
Fearow
I also have a Victreebel that I throw in there, but it is only at level 35 so it can't compete with the Elite four. I use Articuno as my dragon slayer against Lance.

Actually, I was referring to my name. :P
But yes, Wobbuffet does pwn. ;)
... I know, I'm not stoopid. DW I have a Togepi I'm trying to train to togetic for a para-flincher if it works out I'm saying bye to Gena. At least for a bit even tho sleep eating is fun... :D
My favourite is definitely Suicune.
It's very pretty.
I had crystal and I loved my suicune to death. Then i lost crystal...It nade me so sad. Another pokemon i like is Treeko. Or any grass starter. They pack the most power out of starters.

That's why we have Ditto.
Yes. Even though it's a horrible fighter unless you really know how to use it.
Um... yeah, I think this topic won't get very many actual pokemon on it, I think most of the active members have told us their favourite pokemans. (did I mention I like Skarmory? It was my bird pokemon in Emerald before Rayquaza came along) I'm actually kinda curious what everyone's type is.
My favourite pokemon type has to be Steel.... They're so awesome. : D I'm not a big fan of a lot of the pokemon's looks, but stats-wise, they're pretty awesome. They also can't be poisoned!
The follow up would probably be electric; they're a nice, strong group with relatively high speed and attack.
I like Grass or ice.
I like ice, ghost, and water.
Water has too many easily exploited Weaknesses... :-* Ghost is great, And dragon is the one with the least weaks.
I thought Steel had the least weaknesses, having about...ten types that aren't very effective against it. :-\
Lemme check my handy poketch
Dragon is weak against Ice and Dragon
Steel is Fire ground and fight and has one less resist.
Sorry Dragon wins.
Let's see, a break down of Pokemon weakness:
Normal is weak against Fighting.
Fire is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock.
Water is weak to Electric and Grass.
Electric is weak to Ground.
Grass is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug.
Ice is weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel.
Fighting is weak to Flying and Psychic.
Poison is weak to Ground and Psychic.
Ground is weak to Water, Grass, and Ice.
Flying is weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock.
Psychic is weak to Bug, Ghost, an Dark.
Bug is weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock.
Rock is weak to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel.
Ghost is weak to Ghost and Dark.
Dragon is weak to Ice and Dragon.
Dark is weak to Fighting and Bug.
Steel is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground.
So, yeah, Grass and Rock have the most weaknesses with five each. However, considering that Steel is immune to Poison and is resistant to everything else but Water and Electric, it tends to be better off in a fight. Of course, Dragon has some powerful moves.
Dark/Ghost for the win, though. No weaknesses and immune to three types.
Gyarados should be Water/Dragon, not Water/Flying. It can't learn Fly, which seems to be essential for any Flying-type Pokemon. It can, however, learn Dragon-type moves. Seriously, wtf?
I just checked the poketch on my game, Dragon is the most resistant but can be poisoned. Also Gyarados owns with shoop da woop face all the time.
Steel > Dragon. the end.
... I'm just kidding, of course. XD
I'm a firm believer that Gyarados should be water and dragon. Or that it should be able to fly. Dodrio can fly without wings, why can't a floating dragon?
Also if you look in the anime the gyarados floats.
I'm a fan of the Dragon/Fire types.

Yeah, but putting stuff like Quagsire and Lanturn in there throws that idea for a loop.
Yeah, i hated quagsire in E4...
My Chimeco was awesome, I was invincible with it and my lvl 99 Togepi and Torchic
Those first two make Great para-flinchers.
Quote from: linkdragon0 on January 03, 2009, 02:55:38 PM
Yeah, i hated quagsire in E4...
I bulldozed through the Sinnoh Elite Four with a level 75 Alakazam, with Dialga providing back-up for the Dark-types. With some PP-restoring items, a few max revives, and plenty of revives, it took me one try to defeat them.
Yeah, the other four Pokemon were cannon fodder for when I had to heal Alakazam.
I hated it just cause i forgot it was ground and was planning on using my luxray, a quick switch to Torterra and it's double super effective.
Favorite types: Steel, dark
Favorite Pokemon: Scyther and Mudkip.
I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but pertaining to the earlier conversation about low level Pokemon being useful, has anyone tried the F.E.A.R. combination move set?
Make a Ratata learn Endeavor, and Quick attack. Give it a Focus Sash to hold.
Endeavor = A move that brings down the enemy's HP to the user's.
Focus Sash = An item that works just like Focus Band, but it is only good for one use, and its 100% guaranteed to work.
Use a quick attack to rid the enemy of its remaining 1 hit point.
What game can you do that in, and where do you get a focus sash?
I think I want to make a team entirely of Bidoof.
Melody the Marshtomp! Unfortunately Melody got deleted when I was like...8 haha oh well
That can be done in Diamond and Pearl, and a Focus Sash, my good friend, is a newly introduced item. My friend Jesus specializes in strategies like that. For instance, he wanted an Aipom really really badly, and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out, that if you nab an Aipom with the ability "Run Away" that ability will turn into "Technician"(upon evolving into Ambipom) which increases the power of any attacks that have a base power of 60 or under. Sounds dumb right? Well, Ambipom has a beastly attack stat, and a move called "Double-hit" which hits twice, but has 35 base. Combined with a Silk Scarf(which was actually my idea) thats one helluva punch.
Does Technician give attacks like that the same multiplier as a STAB bonus? If so, if you cube three over two...that's twenty-seven over eight. Basically a 3.375 damage multiplier per punch? Double that (for the two hits) and you get a whopping 6.75 damage multiplier, meaning a revised base stat of 304.25 for the entire attack?
...
Whoa.
Y'know, playing a game from the start again made me realize how much I love Geodude. He's a bruiser right at the beginning, same with Onyx. Love those two.
The funny thing is that i am probably one of the few people that understood you magmarfire...
Imma going old school, but Articuno and Clefable are mine.
I rasied a Clefairy level 10 to Clefable level 83 (+Moonstone) and annialated Elite Four with it and its attacks Pound, Metronome, Strength, and Blizzard.
Hahaha Pokemon Red baby.
Articuno was DEFINITELY my favorite bird. Entei was my favorite legendary dog...
I liked blue. Even though there is no difference. My favorite legendaries are, Raikou, Articuno, and Mew. So kawaii...
Yeah, STAB also applies, I forgot to add that to the equation.
Ambipom = Beastly.
Typhlosion, Moltres, Suicune, Rayquaza, Metagross, and Kyogre all the way! However...give me a Typhlosion anyday. I love Typhlosions. :D

Math (http://mathpwned.ytmnd.com/)
Spammage aside, you know how if a pokemon does a move the same type as it s own, it gets a multiplier of 1.5? (for ex: squirtle + water gun, water gun= 40. 40 x 1.5 = 60 damage). Does that apply to normal pokemon + normal moves, too?
It's normal, so it has no type, but it's the same un-type, so it has to be, but it can't...

Hmm...Idk, probably Dragonite. And Sandshrew/Sandslash.
I liked all the pokemon a lot, my bro, I think, got me interested in Pokemon (and school, of course. People were trading cards left and right all over the place. The bus, the playground, wow XDDD)
I think Jigglypuff was my favorite Pokemon back then. (I can sorta do Jigg's voice too XDD)

*facepalm*
That word. Ring any bells from the hoenn pokemon anime? It sure brought pain back to my heart.
I could hardly keep up with the Orange Islands. :( (At least Charizard came back to unleash rape in a can. The guy's a freaking beast.)
And it only makes it that much harder to write TCA! DX
My favourite legendary bird was Articuno, too- I dunno, Moltres and Zapdos looked dumb, and they didn't learn as important moves.
Raikou's my favourite legendary dog. It's just hardcore like that. And is the only one that didn't get a movie of it. :c
*Obligatory "They're cats not dogs argument" statement*
They were my favorite legendary group though.
I know they're cats, but the anatomy freak in me says otherwise, and I tend to go with that side a lot. stumpy body & dog legs =/= cat.
Yeah, I have nothing to contribute to this conversation, just throwing in that cartoons don't look real. Grr and such.
They look even more doglike in the Gamecube games. But now that you mention it...Raikou does look like a Tiger...not just because of the stripes.
Suicune is wolf, dammit!
My favorite Pokemon has got to be Skarmory, I mean, what's no to like about a metal bird?
I also liked the duality of Lunaton and Solroc (although i never really knew what was with those two)
Sandslash looks kind of cool too, I remember always catching a sandsdrew to evolve it early in the game.
This topic has pretty much died so I'm gonna lock it k?
All because a topic died? Nah, that's not the best idea; what if someone has something meaningful to add to it later? It could "legally" come back to life later if it warrants discussion. ;)
This is a difficult one. Throughout the game I usually try to have my starter at a good level and I try to have a unique one at a high level every time. There has been Tentacruel, Electrode, Crobat, Octillary, Hypno and others. My favourite ever though is on Pearl...my Blaze (A level 80 odd Infernape). I wish Infernape was a playable character on Smash Bros :(
There's already Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Smash Bros. doesn't need any more monkeys.

I don't quite understand why they're supposed to be cats. They look like dogs to me.
I never really like the starter pokemon. There are pokemon out there that are much stronger but everyone is too lazy to train the other pokemon they catch.
1) I love Charizard.
2) It's not that I'm too lazy to train the other Pokemon I catch, it's that there are so many that I want to train up.
I know I wasn't. I got like 20 lvl 100s...
It helps to own all the generations....
Never been diciplined enough to get a lv. 100 wothout cheats. I always use my starter if I like it, I mean Blastoise, Charizard, Feraligatr, Typlosion...whats not to love? I make sure I don't go for the same pokemon to catch all the time.
Quote from: linkdragon0 on January 23, 2009, 12:47:55 PM

Well, maybe the third and fourth generations. The first and second generation can't trade between the third and fourth generation.
Yeah it could actually. If you buy a link cable with ADVANCE and COLOR compatablity. Or you could use a wireless adapter.
Have you actually traded Pokemon from a second generation game to a third generation using a link cable or a wireless adapter? Because I thought that the games' programming would prevent you from trading between the earlier generations and the later generations.
How else do you think I got my Pidgeot? I made them my mains on my Leaf Green.
Pidgey can be found on several routes in FireRed and LeafGreen.
But i Prefer my other pidgey
I really can't find it possible to trade between second and third...
Okay we are talking nintendo right? Anything is possible for them.
Whether it works is different.
*coughwiifitandwiimusiccough*
Wii Fit is actually a good way to help you get in shape.
I can't speak for Wii Music, however.
My dad wants it but you can't find it.
(Happyness at unavailability.)
I wouldn't let him play anyway.
Ew, Wii music? What the heck is Nintendo thinking?
I want to try out Wii Music for myself.
Sounds like a cool thing to try out.
Granted, I probably don't want to buy it, but eh.
Pokemon people.
New top five fave pokemon for me
1 Lapras
2 Sceptile
3 Raichu
4 Gyarados (Shoop da woop face)
5 Ampharos
Doop doop, I love Luxio now. Not Luxray. Luxio.
I got another one and named him Vair, he chills with Vodka, my Luxray.

I regret evolving my Luxio :(
Sorry to hear that.
Why do you regret evolving your Luxio?
I thought it looked much better than it does now as a Luxray. It kinda looks like a Sonic character.
Thus shows that Japan is out of ideas...
they were out of ideas with the third generation...
And I like Luxray a little, but it's.... I don't know. It doesn't look as cool as Luxio, and Shinx looks absolutely retarded. It's wall-eyed in every bit of merchandise.
My dad thinks they were on weed with some of these pokemon...
...Let me explain.
He believes they stick themselves in a room with a single light. One guy pulls out a joint and says "Let's get to work." Next thing you know, there is smoke filling the room, and they are saying to each other "Okay.....this is what *Inhale* we are goingtodo. We are going to name this little thing a...Turtwig....and this thing is going to be a...Dialga!"
haha, I feel like everytime I come back from my absence and stretch my legs, I turn into ANGERY FISKERSSS, but the artistic process is stemmed from the mind itself, not the mind + enhancers. not to say that great artists don't do drugs, but the mind to begin with is what stems true art.
