Title: where do the sages go?
Post by: Shadow Ganon on January 18, 2009, 07:02:59 AM
In Ocarina of Time the whole point of the last 2/3s is to awaken the six sages, but where on Hyrule do they go to after that. I can't remember where, but I seem to remember hearing that sages can't (or at least mustn't) leave the chamber of sages. So, say I've just completed the fire temple and we go and see Darunia in the chamber of sages, raura and saria aren't there.
I know when you defeat Ganon they 'appear' but where from, and how come they can leave wherever to oversee the party from death mountain, and why wasn't Rauru with the other five at the end?????
My head hurts :(

It was never really said, to my knowledge, that none of the Sages were to leave the Chamber.

I find it a possibility that they're somewhere in the Chamber when you awaken another Sage, but only in an ethereal form. It would explain why they don't appear during these cutscenes except for their own awakening or Ganondorf's banishment, and it would also possibly explain their "will-o'-the-wisp" forms when they're not in their humanoid bodies.

As for Rauru, it's possible that he just didn't want to go join the festivities. He didn't really seem to complain being in the Chamber of Sages for Din knows how long, so he could probably stand a couple more hours away from the action.

yeah that seems like a theory. I now know where I made my mistake. Ruto says they'll have to call of their engagement but not because she can't leave, just because they are both destined to do other things. Its like Ruto telling Link 'I'd love to go out and all and I think you're a really nice guy, but I've got to wash my hair tonight" heheh

I suppose you're right about that. I had to have been forgetting something. :P

hehe. Maybe they live in the sacred realm and that is why their descendants are in the dark world in aLttP. I can't remember if the Chamber of Sages is in the Sacred Realm itself or just in the Temple of Time, but when the sages open the portal to trap Ganon it is on the triforce part of the chamber. Each one rises from their respective medallions around it when you awaken them??? Am I right in thinking that the Dark World and the Sacred Realm are the same place, only it becomes the Dark World after Ganon steps foot in it???

The Dark World is the Sacred Realm corrupted by Ganon(dorf)'s dark desires.

And the descendants of the sages are in the Dark World in ALttP because Agahnim sent them there.  The sequence that plays when you start a new game not only tells you that Agahnim kidnapped the descendants, but it shows you Agahnim sending one of the maidens to the Dark World.  So the Sages of OoT must have left the Sacred Realm or already had a descendant living in Hyrule at the time.

Ahhhh, thanks for clearing that up with me...I don't remember the start, I just constantly hit 'A' eager to start playing. I think maybe the sages remained somewhere in their temples in maybe a spiritual form because the descendants of the Sages in the Windwaker (Medli and Makar) can be found in the boss chambers of their temples.
