Title: We got new birds!
Post by: Pale Dim on January 22, 2009, 04:11:02 PM
A few days ago, my mother got new birds. We let her do this because me and my old man got rifles for ourselves for target shooting, my sister has her Guinea pigs, and Mom had nothing. So, we let her get new birds. It's been several years since she last had birds, so we all forgot how annoyingly noisy they were. So we figured "Okay, this shouldn't be so bad, right?" Next thing I know, the living room is the noisiest room in the world, and I'm thinking to myself "The silence is a lie, the silence is a lie, the silence is a lie!"
Note: She always gets Zebra finches. They're much quieter than Cockatoos, that's for sure...but still! But I guess it's not that bad, after all, it's only the fact that it's two young males and two young females in the same cage, and they seem to reject each other. As lovers. Is this good or bad?

I guess that depends on if you want baby birds.

Or it could just be that it's not their mating season.

Birds are cute and all, but cats are cuter.  And you can train them to use the toilet.

If you didn't want us to talk about cats, a few months back, a little, white cockatiel flew up to my dad while he was outside smoking.  We ended up keeping it back in my room for a couple of weeks, waiting to hear if anyone would claim it.  No one did, so we had to release it back outside.  We probably would have kept it if we had room and our dogs weren't eyeballing it like it was dinner.

Our cats keep sneaking up to the cage...as if to expect something.
