Title: Timeline error (really)
Post by: HylianHero92 on February 06, 2009, 09:54:01 PM
I recently noticed something about the Oracle games and the timeline. In the beginning, the Triforce is whole, right? Meaning it takes place after TWW or LttP, which both come after OoT in most timelines. But at the end (using the linked password) you fight Twinrova. Now, both titles are parallel (don't even try to argue otherwise, it's been confirmed many times.) in the timeline (since it split after OoT). But in the future Hyrule (the one that Link left) Twinrova has already been killed! This means that they can either

A) Resurrect themselves

OR

B) Somehow duplicate themselves and send themselves to an alternate time. (which is highly unlikely)

Discuss.

Well, I am going to argue otherwise. Where has it been confirmed that the Oracles take place at the same time on different timelines?

Now, I haven't been paying attention to this timeline nonsense for some time, so if there is something official here, I'd like to know what it is.

By "Don't try and argue otherwise" I meant "Don't try to say there's not a split timeline". Sorry if I wasn't clear.

It hasn't really. But think about it. They both start the same way, with the same Link (only different timelines). Why wouldn't they be parallel?

But either way, they both definitely come sometime after LttP or TWW because those are the only times the Triforce is united (please correct me if I'm wrong.) . If it has to come after LttP or TWW, which both come after OoT (that has been confirmed, Shiggy said OoT was the 1st game in the timeline, but that was a few years before MC came out), Twinrova should be dead in at least one version.

It didn't stop Ganondorf from coming back to life. I don't see why Twinrova couldn't, too, given that they're all powerful magic users.

Yeah, but they brought Ganon back. Ganon didn't die at the end of OoT, he was just sealed in the sacred realm, then found a way to escape. Not resurrect himself.
You actually see a cutscene of Twinrova ascending to heaven!

So...wait, what point are you making, now?

I'm still making the same point. Twinrova should be dead, but they aren't. Hence the topic's title "Timeline Error".  ;)

I remember reading in an interview somewhere (don't ask me where, I can't remember) that the Game Developers develop the game, then see where it fits in the timeline. Basically, they just make it up as they go. But it's been confirmed many times that there is a developed timeline, so maybe some elements in certain games are out of place. Perhaps they overlooked the whole "Death" thing. ;)

Ganon's sudden return after TWW (assuming we're going by TDC's timeline, which I do find accurate) wasn't really explained in the games, either. However, it's not to say that justifying explanations can't be thought up through the timeline's interpolation. I believe the same thing can be done with Twinrova.

He probably brought them back to life.

But then again, they did say "We'll be back to haunt you." Perhaps that was an omen.

Actually, it could be. I didn't attribute that to their return at all before. 0o

They are witches.  They'd have to be idiots not to have something set in place were they to die.
