I'd swear we have a topic about this somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
SO: Any hopes on what the next game has to hold? I'm hoping for the next installment to the
QuoteOoT --> MM --> Zelda 09
type of thing.
As you know, Link got his very first fairy, and set out on an unforgettable quest to wield the master sword, and bring down Ganondorf. After it all, Zelda found it unfair to rob link of 7 years of his life, and returned him to his former self, after which he set out to find Navi. I'm guessing he was getting tired of hearing nothing but his own footsteps.
Halfway through the lost woods, Link was attacked by an "imp" garbed in a peculiar mask. After awakening from the fall, his vision comes into contact with the imp, and it's holding his Ocarina. After a struggle to regain control of the situation, Link falls into a parallel dimension, where he finds himself with three days to save the universe from a falling moon.
After his quest, he continues back from where left off- in search of his friend...
So how will the next part of the story end up? Will it be realistic like Twilight Princess? Cartoony like The Wind Waker? Or back to a happy medium between realism and fantasy like the original two N64 Zelda titles? Will he still be a child searching for Navi? Or will he have given up on his search, and now resides elsewhere? Will it take place on a new continent? Will it be the same Hyrule?
So many possibilities if the next installment of the OoT storyline.
And if its not... I just hope they've been working on something amazing...
with lots of side-quests...
OH!- and I want the Deku back too XP
The Deku can go away forever. I want more Gerudo.
I'm hoping for an MM prequel, or an equally macabre Zelda game.
I really liked the Valley of the Deluge fake rumoridea. Too bad it wasn't real.
8) ??? :'(
Some things I don't like in the series is that certain reaces never get to appear again, like the Rito and Kokiri/Koroks. The next game should be crazy big so as to include them all.
Realism for me, please. And I consider the "happy medium" to be a mere result of the N64's limitations...but I can live with either, really. I do adore TP's artwork, and a continuation of that would be love. More magic would be awesome, though.
And a harder difficulty level. Can't emphasise that enough, can I?
I agree with all of you except for HnS. Go die in a fire.
Deku rawk.
I liked the Valley of the Deluge idea too... Nintendo should take that idea and run with it. Also, MM was a direct sequel to OoT, so an MM prequel would be... well, OoT. As much as I wouldn't exactly mind a remake on the side of whatever else they're doing, I'd LOVE to see the next game in the series. It seems like they're trying to be more logical about things, which isn't exactly needed in a Zelda game.
I mean look at MM/OoT. Random holes with enemies in them? Being able to command Stalchildren? Between Great bay and the Mountains where grass turns to snow, and nobody questions is? Playing a song for a wall, and rupees flying out? Beautiful scenery inside the moon?!?!? WHY DOES ZELDA NEED LOGIC LIKE TP? ITS FANTASY DAMN IT ALL!!!! DX
Quote from: Zelda Veteran on February 23, 2009, 07:42:03 PMWHY DOES ZELDA NEED LOGIC LIKE TP? ITS FANTASY DAMN IT ALL!!!! DX
Because the geriatrics Nintendo is marketing to would get too confused otherwise.
Anyways, I'd love to see a "Twilight Princess" sequel in a similar vein to "Majora's Mask." I mean, I'd love to see a new game branch off from "Twilight Princess" as a sequel but with a more-or-less unrelated (though still excellent) story, just as "Majora's Mask" did. I'd also love to have the time-manipulation aspect brought back; that was probably the most unique part about "Majora's Mask" and brought some very intriguing and challenging new gameplay aspects with it. I'd love to see that return.
Majora's Mask added a new dimension to NPC's. Everyone was doing something different on different days, and it was amazing to see how some of the characters evolved that way. Imagine if there were like 5 days, or 7 days to make a week. It'd be endless possibilities!!
I wonder how much emphazis they'll put on the story, I hope not too much, because I have always liked that room for speculation that WW didn't have. Now that we're at it, how would you react to another Toon Link adventure?
Hmm... It would actually make me upset a bit.
I mean, they kind of sucked the life out of the whole toon link concept. Wind Waker, Four Swords, Minish Cap, Phantom Hour Glass... give it up already, you know? XD
Quote from: Wizzrobe Mikaudes on February 23, 2009, 08:39:49 PMhow would you react to another Toon Link adventure?
I would kill myself.
I think they should draw the line there: handheld can be cartoonish and home...held(?) will be realistic.
You know what could be good? A library...
And I don't want things to just be VERY far away, even if the overworld is not huge, I would prefer to have every spot with meaningful details.
And no Tingle, or have him die in a horrible way (but keep it rated T).
Why does everyone hate Tingle?
In my time playing Zelda, I've come to love the little bugger.
He adds to the Zelda-ness of it all.
For me, at least.
And clarify what you mean by "The Library"

Despite not having played TWW, the Koroks seem too closely related to Dekus. Kokiri and Rito, yes; Koroks, no (even if they are somehow descended from the Kokiri, which is most likely a genetic improbability anyway).

Oh, we can keep some of the illogical stuff, like rupees flying out of the wall, but just because it's fantasy doesn't mean it can't be as realistic as possible. After all, if we just allowed anything to go, it would start to be a large mass of
deus ex machinae, and it would wreck with the suspension of disbelief.

Toon Link wasn't too bad, but I think Nintendo ought to leave the cartooniness to Mario and focus on a more realistic look for Zelda from now on.

For me, at least.
I know; Tingle is such an eccentric character. If the Zelda series continue to have melancholic stories, then we would need characters like Tingle to throw in some comic relief.
Story and gameplay aside, I want to see more bonus features, like a Music Player and a Bestiary that fills in as you play the game (then again, I think every game should have those). Zelda could also use a bonus feature where you can refight mini-bosses, bosses, and enemy characters you only get one chance to fight (such as the Gerudo guards in OoT).
Idea: "Half-Life 2" has the game more-or-less broken into chapters, and what I really like about that is that you have the ability to go back at any time and replay any one of those chapters whenever you like. I'd love to see something like that implemented in a new Zelda game; it'd make it really easy to relive your favorite moments in the game without having to start over from the beginning.
I dunno. Part of the awesomeness of the Zelda series is the ability to go anywhere at just about anytime; wouldn't a chapter format take away from that?
Oh, and we need more Garo.
Quote from: Hi no Seijin on February 24, 2009, 03:57:07 PM

I agree, part of the satisfaction of completing a zelda game is to have everything and to have explored every tidbit of the game. A chapter format would just press on to advance in the story.

Maybe unlockable tidbits of information of the game (like the figurines footnotes, but more thorough). Things that explain aspects that would otherwise be left unexplained by the plot itself. And I mean an actual building you can visit.
I think everyone wants a harder difficulty on the next zelda... ::)
I don't care too much about difficultly; if it's ungodly hard, however, I won't play it.

He meant more informative than a one or two line blurb (*judging from TMC figurine gallery*).
If they did bring Navi back, they would have to include a feature where you can turn her off so she isn't nagging you every five minutes to continue with the story.
Yeah that's true. It's just when you want to talk to her she's like the eptiome of knowledge.
I miss that from Ezlo...
Navi was so much cooler.
But talking to Ezlo felt more fluid because he changed his dialogue more often than Navi. Although Navi was kind of cute...
Navi liked you though....
Ezlo... Not so much.
I would like to see Nintendo do away with the plans that they have right now and make it more OoT-ish.
Oh, Ezlo did like Link; he just didn't show it in...nice ways.
Plus, Nintendo already did make TP OoT-like, and some people complained about that.
How can someone complain about anything OoT?

That game is not amazing, damn it. It follows the same exact damn formula as all of the ones before it; the only thing that made it unique was the fact that it was in 3D. If A Link to the Past was the first 3D Zelda game, people would be calling that "the greatest game of all time".
We have already argued over this a lot of times, lets not bring it up again, shall we?
Whatever they do, I expect it to be fresh (which becomes a tad bit harder with each new game).
Oh, and transformations, yeah...
Transformations would be fantastic

Lol. I want a gidbo Trans

A wolf is completely different from a wolfos. A wolfos would strike with his paws instead of using bites, and a wolfos would guard with his front legs. Did Wolf Link do that? No.
Still sounds a bit clone-like to me, but the guard mechanism would be new.

I agree. I like the idea of an enemy!Link. Deku Link couldn't spit deku nuts so he doesn't really count, as much as I love the little guy.
A wolfos would've been better than a wolf in TP, because there aren't really any known instances of wolves in Zelda, they have wolfos. yeah, they have dogs and stuff so it's not too farfetched, but wolfos are also lone animals compared to wolves. (but then again, the wolfos in the game were really just wolves with borked anatomy so)
I have a vendetta against wolves, though. feel free to ignore me.
I want the next game to have a free play where after the game ends you get to run around. I want it to be a little more RPG-ish, not in the Zelda2 kinda way, (Not that it's bad) but having teammates would be awesome, and I want lots of side-quests.
But I'm expecting a lot, especially with the way nintendo is, uhm not sure if i can say it, prostituting itself.
But I hope they won't destroy one of their best game series for a few extra bucks, They'd probably lose money if they changed it like they want to.
For me, back to the artwork...yes, keep it in the realistic Zelda-esque anime style. I hear that's the character designer's favorite kind of art.
And I don't know about any of you, but I want the main theme remade with a full orchestra and Latin lyrics.
No leave the original theme like it is.
Other music I say you can change.
I wouldn't like Zelda music with lyrics though...
Well i know I wouldn't download any.

Also, wolves are kind of more social than the wolfos appear to be; wolves form and function in packs, you know.

As for them using Latin....Sure, I guess. Whatever works.
Well it's just that the song has become Iconic without lyrics, But I'd love to hear the original ending song back.
Just remember Fire Emblem, eh?
On another tone, I would really love minigames and side quests

Honestly, I think that would be cool.
But I kinda of wish there would be a game where it's like MM and OoT, you can get masks and stuff, maybe some have magical powers...And maybe something along the same music scheme.
And deff. the Ocarina.
I was kinda bummed when there was no ocarina in TP.
Basically, I just want an MM game, only TP graphics.
I've been thinking about this...
Nintendo has been changing the formula of LoZ, if they change it too much it may stink, I hope they really don't Change much, but I do hope they will give more of a timeline backstory, cause we all want one.
Quotegive more of a timeline backstory, cause we all want one.
Incorrect. I couldn't care less about the backstory. I just want some more clever puzzles.
I'd love both.

Probably the standard Cucco Flock of DOOM.
Well it wasn't standard in TP.
Well TP wasn't very standard anyway.
Now imagine having access to a bow, a slingshot and a crossbow at the same time...
Too much ranged.

I see, but then what would you propose-- a "Hi, my name is Link" sticker on his tunic?
Imagine the next scene:
"I've heard many tales from you, what is your name?"
*long silence*
"Err, what's your name?"
*awkward zombie silence*
"Are you... mute... I seeeee..."
*Link hands out a trade sequence item*
"So... what do you want me to do with this?"
*Link headdesks*
If they don't want to include voice acting, fine, but I'm getting a bit tired of the silent protagonist. Surely by this point in the series it can't hurt to allow Link to talk.
I also wouldn't mind if they switched up the sex and/or race of the main character. Why does it always have to be a male Hylian who has to save Hyrule?

lulz i see wat u did there
Because that's just the formula, I don't see why it has to change.
Well, I think they should give a voice, just so he only has a few things to say, like in flashbacks. But it would get annoying if he started taunting every enemy he defeated.
And a gallery like in the Wind Waker would be nice to see again. But that might also include the requirement of some info-gathering-thingamajig to do so.
If it was Toon Link as his old 12-year old self, I'll pass. BUT, I would think about it if it was him, almost an adult, and the graphics were state of the art.
I don't want to wait til 2010 for the new wii zelda, it looks like it is going to be a realistic one like twilight princess and looks like it is going to be gloomy and depressing
