Question:
would you let the man use your cell phone?
Option 1: yes
Option 2: no
you are a teenage girl driving through your suburban neighborhood on your way to school with your friend in the passenger seat. a man waving his arms flags you down, he looks harmless and normal, so you decide to stop to see what he wants. you crack your window just enough to hear what he has to say. in an urgent tone he tells you that there is an emergency up ahead and asks if you have a cell phone he can use. you look ahead, but see nothing in the distance. what would you do?
i am asking this because i am curious, this happened to me today and i wanted to see what other people would have done.
after some people answer i'll tell you what i did, and then what happened.
I'd let him see my phone
But i'd mow him down if he tried anything.

but remember that you are a teenage girl... you might not be able to take him
I'm in a car
I can mow him down.
What kind of car?
mazda rx8
yeah I could take him
You should remember to include info like that
It's important
I'd probably ask him really smart questions (about like 1 or 2 :P) like L/Near and if I'm convinced I'll let him use my phone. :D
...Maybe I'd ask him why he doesn't have it own phone since everyone has one now adays ::)
Like i said mowdowns are the way to go.
Yes, keep in mind who's on foot and who's in the car.
You're driving, he's on foot.
Mowdown Here i come.
Lulz.
I mean srsly
Why ask someone who's in a car and why doesn't he have a phone.
Yeah, that's pretty Valid.
He can't afford a phone?
Not everyone can afford the convenience of a cell phone.
Well what would you do?
Hmm smarty man?
I would make the call myself :/
DANG SMARTY MEN!
Let him see it, if he steals it i'd just go home call verizon and have the phone locked and get a new phone/number
If he steals it I'd mow him down
would anyone else like to answer before i tell you what happened?
I might ask him what happened and see if he hesitates to answer.
it seems like most people would ask questions, which probably would have been very smart of me to do.
when he asked me and my friend kinda looked at eachother, like "no way" we both knew better than to trust some random stranger. i tried to tell him no without being to harsh, but i stumbled with my words nothing really came out of my mouth except "uhhmm.. hrmmm.." i guess he understood that i wasn't going to trust him and told me to move on along.
so, here's the part where i feel like a total jerk:
we drive around the corner to get out of the neighbor hood and the girl is laying in the street unconsious and bleeding. it looks like she's been hit by a car, theres a few people around her and the car is pulled over.
here's what i dont get:
one of those few people HAD to have had a cell phone, and we are in a freaking neighborhood! ring some doorbells!
LOL!
OMG THAT IS HILARIOUS!

Forget you and your rational logic!
I play video games and ergo, violence is the answer.
See the world these days is just way too paranoid, which is wierd for me to say seeing as i'm paranoid, but still it's just a phone, you can get another one if someone steals it.
YEAH! WAY TO GO GAMEFREAK!
See this is why this man is the leader.
he is awesome.

Isn't it on the news.
It's funynynynyny.

I think it was a setup.

Robbery isn't a justifiable reason for murder, and I think the law would agree with me.

Would you laugh if it was you or someone you cared about lying on the ground, bleeding, possibly to death?

By some coincidence, no one could have had a cell phone, but several homes do have phones, and the fact that someone went looking for someone with a cell phone instead of a house with a home is rather depressing. To make it more depressing, had this been a more isolated area and a cell phone would be needed to call for help, the man should have said that a girl has been hurt and an ambulance was needed.
Of course, if a man asks, with urgency in his tones, to use your phone, but doesn't say why, it wouldn't hurt to ask the man what's happening and offer to help.

Smart.
I wouldn't kill him.
Just incapacitate him.
Running over people is still illegal. It doesn't matter if you kill them or maim them. The only situation where hitting someone with your car would be excusable is if that person was threatening your life.
Well...
He did.
theft might lead to violence.
Theft might lead to violence, but if the robber doesn't pull a weapon out on you, then you have no reason at all to kill him. Even if he did pull out a gun or a knife, and you fought back in self-defense, the preferable thing to do would be to disarm him, not kill him.
Hmm...
I still like my Idea...
It's amazing how we've managed to stay on topic, even in the chatboard.
Like your idea all you want, running over an unarmed pedestrian who takes off with your phone will land you in jail. It's not worth it, and it's incredibly stupid to think otherwise.
Hmm...
Waht if I framed him.
I know how someone's mind works...
I bet I could fool local police.
Now FBI that's something different....
LOL
alex, you shouldn´t feel bad, you reacted in a normal way, and, given the circumstances, someone might have already made the call.
I even suspect that the man wanted to take advantage of the situation.
I would have pulled him into the car and raped him, then let him use my phone to call the police. I would have waited for them and let them execute me, and not tell them that I was a robot all along. As they attempted to hang me, they would have activated my self-defense mechanism, which would cause everyone in the universe to implode.

I think it's kinda hard for a girl to rape a man...

First off, why shell out 600 dollars for an ipod touch that can make phone calls?
Second, at 600 dollars, i'm pretty sure apple has a warranty on it.
Nope, being a cheap teenage girl I wouldn't have sprung for the warrantee
Warranties are usually included with stuff like that.
Wanna know what else is?
YOUR MOM!
LMAO nice one!
Times like this make you wanna say...
OWNED!
LOLOLOL
So uh...
Rabies...
OWNED!
