Apparently Nintendo just announced a new Zelda game. Just thought y'all'd like to know. :D
Since I don't feel much like repeating myself, here (http://www.desertcolossus.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1238002620&archive=&start_from=&ucat=5&) is the article I've put on the TDC mainpage. I'm scouring the internet right now looking for more quotes and maybe even a video of the trailer that was shown at GDC, so check back there for any additional updates as time goes on.
Good thing I enjoyed PH.
I hope it's good and it really is WW3/PH2
And I hope for very little amount of delays.
Looks cool, but...it doesn't seem...very Zelda-like to me. It feels too modern. If it's a sequel to Phantom Hourglass...yeah, major overkill. Chances are it'll be darn easy, too. >:
Guess I'll just have to wait until more information comes out...
Well alpha is good at gathering information like that.
He always rolls natural twenties.
But remember that lame steampunk Zelda hoax?
Could it be coming true but portable?
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/gdc09-watch-the-legend-of-zelda-spirit-tracks-in-action/
I am unaware on how to feel about this... :-[
I might even go for slightly sad...
I mean links conductor outfit...
What day is it close to?
Wha-?!
Great, now they're just getting kids attention!! [/candothatwithMM]
=_=;;
Why won't they release a new Zelda game for teh Wii
:'(
Better than DS anyway...
Well, I guess it's ok apart from the train....
A whole bunch of kids are probably just complaining because they can't get across Hyrule fast enough.
I miss Epona and the ocarina... :'(
K I'm done, I hope I didn't watch the wrong thing,
I have no Idea, Enlighten me. FT
Also, TPZ Travelling Hyrule was half the fun, this takes the un-linearness out of a great game known for it's Un-linear ness.

Uhm...
Pardon?
I don't understand what you said.
Next person to knock trains is going to make me very upset. Trains are AWESOME. End of story. Besides, you draw the tracks for the train, right? So it's not exactly linear.
Anyways, Phantom Hourglass was excellent. I actually enjoyed it more than TP. It was FRESH. It actually felt like Nintendo was putting effort into a Zelda game, instead of just applying a formula.
And if you're STILL worried, remember: it's common knowledge that Nintendo has separate Zelda teams for console and handheld games, no?
ALSO: This is almost certainly not an April Fool's joke. Major companies don't make up major news at major conferences.

I never knew that.
That makes me feel better.
Like I said in Hero92's topic, I can see Hyrule having steam engine trains.
I can't all that much.
Maybe if Wind Waker was just a big plain and no water, then maybe yes, I could see that.
Yeah, those Hyrulians are a Crafty bunch.
And TP, this might be you know what they were looking for, new hyrule.
If I wanted travel Hyrule Sesame Street in a wooden train Thomas the Tank Engine, I would be overjoyed right now.
^^^
Rotfl.
Chuck: Uhmmm I was kinda looking for MM remake but in Hyrule.
Well uh...
I really don't care so long as it's semi good.
Yeah.
I hope it's good...
If not I WILL go insane.
Guys, it's a April Fools joke. It's blatanly obvious. The conducter suit, the shadow-guard, THE FREAKING TRAIN, they would never do this stuff.
Ign doesthat crap.
Not official announcements.
And that is a pretty elaborate scam. SEnding it to everyone.
Nintendo is trying there hand at April Fools. Watch and see.
People DO go to great lengths to make an april fools joke.
...Though wouldn't it come out on April 1st?
...Doesn't matter.
But I saw this one movie trailer for a Zelda movie and it looked really real but it wsa just a prank.
But this was released in an official Nintendo press conference.
I doubt they'd do that.
They're still recovering from the last April fools joke.
When i hurt them.
Badly.

OK, I warned you guys. NOW YOU HAVE MADE ME VERY ANGRY.
FIRST OF ALL, Sesame Street is great. Don't act like it's not, most of us loved it at some point in time. Same goes for Thomas.
SECOND, this is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. What do you guys want? I can't believe that the same people who were dying for a new Zelda game are now nitpicking because IT HAS A TRAIN. Steam power was established in Phantom Hourglass; heck, it might have even been in Wind Waker, I forget. If they've found a "new Hyrule", it is reasonable to think that they'd build a simple train. Alternatively, the train could be some kind of special, Link-specific mechanic. Either way it's just a new way to get around that makes use of the DS's touch screen. Epona is great, we love Epona, but Epona wasn't in Wind Waker or Phantom Hourglass, either. Epona also doesn't have a built-in cannon.
THIRD, I find it ironic that the majority of us who are happy or excited about this game are older. Yet those of you who are complaining that it's for little kids, are younger. What does that prove? Maybe that you guys should suck it up and be happy that there is something to be happy about, instead of being pessimistic and petty. Maturity isn't determined by the rating of the video games you play, you know. It seems we're forgetting about that.
ARGH. It felt good to rant.
I said I wou;dn't mind it, I was just sorta shocked.
but that DS-i only game thing is messing me up.
but that's a different topic, And I'm 15, if that's older then who are you speaking of?

I am proud of your wait-and-see approach here, it's the right thing to do. But I said the majority, not all. You were the exception that caused me to include that word. >.>
Okay.
It's just I trust the People at Zelda to keep the games good, after all if they switched it to a kiddy, Casual gamer perspective they'd lose money from all the fans ditching, so they really won't do that, keep that in mind guys.
And yes, in my free time I watch sesame street, sue me.

I am not mad that it has trains. I'm mad because it's Phantom Hourglass.
With the boats replaced with trains. I'm mad because I'm afraid. I'm afraid Nintendo will kill Zelda with this and future games like they murdered Mario with Mario Party and/or any sports game with the word Mario in it. They keep making complete crap like PH just to make money. Think about it this way: If it didn't have the LoZ title, would you be in the least bit excited? They're just making random games that are easy enough for anybody to beat blindfolded and putting their brand names on it. And the irony! A whole
2 years and all they can come up with is a proportionally-challenged train?! They
better be working on a Zelda for Wii. A
real Zelda. If not, Mr. Myiamoto will be
very unhappy with the amount of spam in his inbox tomorrow morning.

Quote from: Bill Trinen (the guy who translates what Myiamoto says)Try to stay away from ledges and sharp things for the rest of the day, Zelda fans.
What the heck is that last quote supposed to be?
I'm really confused.
The last quote was from Bill Trinen, the guy who goes to E3 and other events with Myiamoto to translate everything Shiggy says to the audience. He's this guy:
Right before the announcement he said:
QuoteTry to stay away from ledges and sharp things for the rest of the day, Zelda fans.
He thinks we're gonna kill ourselves!
:P
Well if Zelda goes the path you all think it's taking I will vut myself,
but like KP and I have said, wait out the storm, sometimes it's worth it like finding a lump of gold on your lawn after a hurricane.
Not accurate but you know what I mean.
I'm not saying it's already terrible, but it's definitely not what I wanted to see for Zelda this year.
No one ever gets what we want to see in Zelda for this whatever, have you seen our expectations?
Go ahead and look I'll wait...
Done?
Notice our expectations are something of the Hard-core gamer style, Nintendo will probably only acknowledge a few of these at a time, if not one at a time.
So in the case of Nintendo, they're the most popular video-game company, if they make a mistake they'll notice it and probably wont do it again, after all look, it's japan, they're constantly learning from yesterday's mistakes.
Wow, KP was right, ranting is nice, albeit a short rant but...

This sounds an awful lot like you're claiming that a game you have yet to play is terrible.
OK, in my opinion, Phantom Hourglass was excellent. I liked it more than I liked Twilight Princess. I actually enjoyed myself a lot while playing it. It might have been a little on the easy side, but, still fun. That doesn't really matter, though, because you have no reason to say that the game is as easy or as hard as Phantom Hourglass until you've played it.
And, I fail to see how making a Zelda game is going to kill the series in the same way as sports games have killed Mario. The sports games have nothing to do with Mario. There were PLENTY of Mario Party and Mario sports games between Sunshine and Galaxy, yet Galaxy was amazing. Keep in mind that we're talking about the same company here.
And yes, I would still be excited. I love trains. A game with swords and trains is a must-play in my book.
The point is, you're making a lot of assumptions from a simple trailer. If you start off with a pessimistic view, you'll never like the game. You should learn to be more optimistic about upcoming Zelda titles or, at the very least, you should adopt an unbiased stance until you have some personal experience with the game to back up your opinions.
Yes, ranting is good.
I remember how disappointed I was when WW and its cell-shaded graphics was announced. Then when I played it it was a lot of fun and everything.
See Even DW agree's just wait to play it if you don't like just trade it in.
Now I'm off to pre-order it.
Reading what KP said makes me feel bad.

And if you're wrong?
I'm a bit uneasy, but I'm not going to go out and troll the internet over it.
Wait a bit closer to the release date, THEN troll this game to death.
It also my point to state, that the last few Zelda games have been really polarizing the fanbase.
Maybe because the first ones united those fans that were captivated by the earlier games and were atracted by the same formula, then, when Nintendo tried something new, it was to each gamer to decide for their own.
Well, Zelda has fallen into two tropes in recent years: (yes, I read TVTropes)
Unpleasable Fanbase
and
They Changed It, Now It Sucks.
Quote from: Gamefreak on March 25, 2009, 07:38:30 PM
Unpleasable Fanbase
That's their own fault. If they had just kept the series the same, there wouldn't be anything other than the normal games for fans to like.
I think it would have become stale, but we can't really know for certain.
I am very respectful of the decisions Nintendo has made for the series, even if I don't consider them the best. I don't have a DS, so no way I'm playing it anytime sooner, but oh well.
You guys are making me feel bad 'cuase I dissed.
Well First thing is first, it's Zelda it probably won't be too bad, second, Nintendo probably won't destroy it becauase they know it has so many fans and they'd lose money if they changed it too much, and 3rd off, I've been trolling the intrawebz and I found this...
QuoteThis game has been officially announced as a true Zelda game. The game is not, as some people think, an April Fools joke.
So uh...
When's it out?
I gotta put pokemon on hold for this. If i want to get both I better get a job.

*Napoleon Dynamite* Yesssss.
I think (if I have enough money, I wanna buy tons of stuff after my bday but I'll probably only buy the stuff I really want), after I buy a DSi, I'll buy this, PH, and PP.
It's probablhy a DS-i only game...
Well, it is, if you look at the trailer it shows it being played on a DSi.
Actually, I think the video specifies it as being a DS game. But they could always change the system, a la Twilight Princess.
Still, it was probably only played on a DSi for advertisement purposes. I would be pretty disappointed if it was DSi-only, though. I suppose we should just all cross our fingers.
If it's any consolation, most official reports say it's for DS, so it could be that they specified it already at the conference outside of the video. I didn't watch it, so I don't know for sure.
Well duh...
I wish that it was cheaper though.
The DSi?
...
I'm saving up for it if that makes you feel any better.
(And I don't get much)
So much stuff I want...
and only $20 a month...
Need to get job.
trains are the single best mode of locomotion ever.
that being said, I'm excited. PH > TP simply due to the ability to use lefty flip.
All of your other arguments are invalid.
How about goats? PH didn“t have goats.
TAKE THAT!
On a more serious tone, when (if any) will new info be released?
Soon. It will be informed soon.

Hey, Tayro brought up the topic of Spirit Tracks, and here's what he told me (slightly edited):
QuoteDreamers Temple (11:04:12 PM): I just read some epic snark. <3
Dreamers Temple (11:04:29 PM): Anyways. Community is complaining about the new Zelda game and the existance of trains in it.
Dreamers Temple (11:04:44 PM): And how it FAILs because it has a train.
Dreamers Temple (11:04:53 PM): And then this reply shows up.
Dreamers Temple (11:05:01 PM): I can't believe you are having a serious argument about the level of technology present in a game where you kill a man who has been turned into a pig by shooting them with magic arrows. You have no trouble accepting the fact that a boomerang can be thrown in such a way that it collides with several dozen solid bodies before returning to its master in a straight line (sometimes through walls) but you cannot fathom how a train exists in this world?
It's a magic train. There.

Kokiri Wolf (11:05:20 PM): Awesome.
Dreamers Temple (11:05:24 PM): Epic snark. <3

Anywho, with trains as a mode of transportation...they can make a pretty big map, can't they? Towns might even be realistically distanced instead of half a mile apart.
