I just started watching it and it's like Saw mixed with CSI or something seriously it makes my brain hurt.

You're on. I'm on Episode 10 thus far.
Yeah, I'm a really big fan of the psychological battles in this anime.
It's something I appreciate a lot more.
I've only seen the first episode but I have read all the manga.
It's brilliant, my friend gave it to me, he also showed our English class the 1st episode as part of a presentation, and it was amazing how many people liked it, people who would never have given that sort of thing a second glance before (either anime or just that genre of anything).
I know some people get annoyed when other people like it, but I love that it can appeal to the mainstream. It just proves how good it is.
I seem to be one of the few people who didn't go crazy over L, it's Light all the way for me.
Yeah, I finally got my sister to start watching it. She's been an anime hater thus far, but she loves it. You should watch it on Hulu if you're not already. They have really high quality episodes and they're all lined up for you. As for me, I watched all of mine on a place called "Stage Six". They had all the episodes in extreme high definition. It was like getting the DVD box set. I'd come home every day after school, and watch it from the time I finished my homework, untill the time I went to bed. Stage 6 isn't around anymore though. :(
Yeah, I miss Stage6 as well.
And as for me, I have also seen many non-otakus being capivated by Death Note, and they all agree that I look like L (yes...)

Heh, you don't look like L. At all.
Honestly, I can't decide who I'm rooting for more, Light or L. Just not Misa. No Misa.
Also, I'm really pumped for the Davy Jones/Calypso split-off movie (on a completely separate topic)
YAY TACHEON YOU LIKE DEATH NOTE!! *Glompish*
*Ahem* And I could spoil teh ending cuz it's awesome but I won't :P
Now all you have to do is get into Ghost in the Shell. I'm pretty sure you'll think that's awesome too!

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.
I have complete of both GITS and SAC.
Yay! What about 2nd GiG? What'd you think of it all?
Now how about Texhnolyze?
2nd gig as well, loved all of it. Really made you think, especially the Laughing Man as I eluded to earlier.
Not too familiar with Texhnolyze, is that another GitS spinoff?
I just started reading the manga. But I can already see where the craziness over it comes from...
Hah, at first I read it just because I want to watch that live action movie, because I heard the guy who plays Light is hott, and I'd like to know the story beforehand so I'm not hopelessly lost.
I would reccomend watching the anime over reading the manga.
Its a buttload of dialogue, and the anime is just straight up better. :)

No, it's a completely different series, but it's also cyberpunk and there are similar themes. Texhnolyze also features quite a bit of fighting and violence. It's about a broken man who gets a leg and an arm chopped off by one of the city's gangs. His arm and leg get replaced and there's a lot of developmentt. It's 22 episodes long.
I love Death Note, but I'm not a huge fan of GitS, I don't think they are that similar.
But I haven't really given it much of a chance, I tried reading a volume of the manga (no idea which one ><) and couldn't get through it, just really wasn't my sort of thing.
And about a year ago I went to the british Museum in London to see one of the movies, I can barely remember what it was about which shows just how little its impact was on me. I do remember that Motoko was barely in it ( though she did show up at one point It think), was mainly those two guys, and bits kept being replayed and happening diffrenetly, and then something to do with robots that looked like humans malfunctioning and killing their owners? I really don't know.
Maybe my tiny little brain couldn't take it all in, but it wasn't worth the 2 hour journey.
But Death Note is great, I was gutted when I found out that I missed one of the movies being played on TV. They should have advetised it!
The first 1995 GitS film is much better, following the main storyline of the manga. Stand Alone Complex is also pretty good. However, the second movie is much more of a philosophical piece, having little to do with the main action and appeal of the series' canon.
If you like violent anime or manga thats just really awesome check out Gunslinger Girl.
I have to admit death note is nice, I just know that if it was me I would have made a lot of gruesome deaths instead of a lot of heart attacks...
