Title: Gingrich Vs. Pelosi
Post by: darkphantomime on May 16, 2009, 11:19:18 AM
Read this (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/15/pelosi.waterboarding/index.html) and tell me that this is so much BS. The GOP is using that as a distraction from the real issues.

"I don't think the speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters," But apparently, the president and VP can?

Gingrich is a man who got kicked from Congress for being corrupt. Would you really trust him more?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is engaging in a "despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort" to withhold what she knew about the CIA's harsh interrogation techniques, former Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday.

Speak for yourself Gingrich!

I don't recall Gingrich ever being forced from Congress.

What I do know however, is that you're not even defending Pelosi, you're just shifting the blame.

I'm shifting the blame? Pelosi has done absolutely nothing wrong. Why does it even matter that she knew this stuff? She was in absolutely no power to stop anything. You have all the Republicans snapping for her head, and why? Becauise she had to keep secret, lest it put up a 'national security problem'? Just imagine for a second if she had actually reported on this stuff, if she in fact knew that it was actually going on. Chances are that someone would try to force her out, silence and threaten her. She would be ousted by the Republican majority. And now they're saying that it's a national security concern?

Quite the Catch-22.

So how come we aren't investigating the people who actually authorized the torture again?

Ask the Obama administration, not me.

Well, since Obama is giving them a pass (for now), isn't Gingrich's attack without merit?

*sigh* Here comes a relentless torrent of political attacks from every Dem except me, me not joining because I realize Gamefreak has nothing to do with this at all and shouldn't be yelled at.

I find it quite funny how both parties lie, attack the other when it is revealed they have done so, and pass it off when they do the same. Forget the circus, THIS is fun!

I will agree that this whole thing is somewhat trivial, seeing as nothing really changes whether or not Pelosi knew about it.

I'm also forced to heavily agree with Whocares.

After all, Nixon's only mistake was getting caught.

And lying to the every citizen of this country, too. Not something that can be taken likely.  ;)

To make a joke, here, "I'm saying when the president does it, it IS legal!" (I believe that was the line in Frost/Nixon, right?)

It was.  I thought it was a great movie
I can see what JQ is saying though.

What could she have really done other than cause unrest in the country and get herself in a load of trouble for breaching confidentiality?

My point was that Johnson did the same exact thing to Nixon in the 1968 election.  Nixon just got caught doing it.

And I really wanted to see that movie, never got a chance to.

No political fights please. None of us here have anything to do with it, so lets no step on any toes.

It's fine, JQ, whocares, and I often butt heads on politics.

It's never personal though, and that's what makes it fun and safe.
