Is the link to the Welcome Thread at the top of the page an annoyingly blue color for everyone else, or is it just me?
YES! ohmygod. I though I was the only one having that problem. It is searing my retinas.
Maybe I could suggest a faded tone of yellow?
I know that many people don't notice it right away, but the blue tone is way too much.

The blue is just random
It's green for me.
It was blue earlier, but now it's green.
Why not keep it the same color as the rest of the text, but underline it to set it off from the rest of it? It'd get the job done just as well without looking too weird.
If that happens, though, TW, the contrast between it and the rest of the text would still be quite low, even with the underline. For new members, we should have it as noticeable as possible but still easy on the eyes. Personally, I think the yellow works well.
Yeah, the yellow looks good. It stands out without looking too much different than the rest of the text.
Wait, what gives with the purple? The yellow was just fine. Now the contrast is even worse. :'(
It's orange now. I think it changes during the day.

umm... I'm a new member, and I can assure you that it's currently orange but... really, I didn't need the colour to help me notice it was there. A little message at the top of the screen with News written in bold at the top of it is fairly noticable.
I like the orange.
I've seen it blue, orange, and gray.
Bugs me too.
