For those who don't know, Roman Polanski (a director famous for Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown, and The Pianist, among others) fled the United States in the 70's after molesting a little girl, and since then the US has had an arrest warrant on his head. He spent most of his time travelling between France and Poland, which were "safe havens" from US authorities. However, yesterday, when he tried to enter Switzerland to recieve a Lifetime Achievement Award from a film festival, Swiss policemen arrested him.
It's kind of odd that somebody who's managed to evade capture for over 30 years fell to something that simple.

Perhaps he just thought it wasn't worth it anymore?
He really wanted that award.

Well, it wasn't actually a trap, the US found out about it later and asked the Swiss if they would be so kind as to arrest him. Surprisingly, they did.
Wait...this begs the question of why they were awarding the Lifetime Achievement Award to a child molester.
It's a Lifetime Achievement Award in film, not in all of life. So what if he is a child molester? He is a great director, too, and that is what counts for the award.
The way it sounds, you haven't seen any of his movies. Go watch Rosemary's Baby and Chinatown immediately.
