So basically, since Halloween is coming up soon, each of us will probably watch something terrifying. So basically, list your horror recommendations here.
Some I liked, in no particular order:
- Rosemary's Baby (probably the most terrifying movie ever made)
- The Shining
- Bride of Frankenstein
- Freaks
- Psycho
- The Birds
- The Night of the Hunter
- The Wicker Man
- Peeping Tom
- Night of the Living Dead
- Dawn of the Dead
- Nosferatu
- Audition
- Jacob's Ladder
Some with high reputations that I recommend you avoid:
- Jaws
- The Silence of the Lambs
- The Ring
- Hellraiser
- A Nightmare on Elm Street
- When a Stranger Calls (both the original and the remake, especially the original)
- All of the Friday the 13th series
- An American Werewolf in London
- Child's Play
- The Evil Dead (and the sequels)
I'm not really a horror kind of guy. Though, for Halloween, I may do my annual reading of this one Advanceshipping fic I like. :3
What about the original Dracula, Frankenstein, and Werewolf films?
not particularly scary, but The Halloween Tree was rather snazzy.
I've never seen either of those, Gamefreak, so I couldn't say. I saw Bride of Frankenstein first because it was on TV, and, since most people regard it as the greatest Frankenstein film, I couldn't resist seeing it before the original. Oh, and Freaks is from Tod Browning, who directed the Bela Lugosi version of Dracula.
What about [REC]? I think it was re-made into Quarantine in the U.S., right?
Well the second part just came out in Spain and I'll be damned if I don't go watch it.
Quarantine scared the hell out of me.
But the original is better, or so I've heard, I haven't seen the Quarantine version so I have no point of reference, but I do have to tell you that Spaniards excel at making horror movies.
I've been watching Glee.
The idea of someone watching it is terrifying on its own
