Title: The Family Sitcoms Topic
Post by: Mysterious F. on November 23, 2009, 02:43:46 PM
Pretty much as the title says. Got inspired to make it after the Full House comments.

And yes, Full House is cool, as is Fresh Prince. 'Nuff said for now.

I like those too, Maggy. I guess my favorite is The Cosby Show. I also like Family Matters, Home Improvement, Roseanne, The Nanny, and George Lopez, to name what comes to mind. I've always thought 7th Heaven was overrated, though. Just never got into it.

Roseanne sucked, Married with Children was awesome.

George Lopez was boring dramatic tripe. I stopped watching ABC because I got so fed up with that crap, and According to Jim too. God, 21st century sitcoms suck.

I thought Roseanne was funny. (Especially one episode where Roseanne tells her son DJ about her first period.)

Home Improvement and George Lopez are also good. :D

I haven't watched any sitcoms lately, though, due to my Internet time...

I watched Family Matters quite a bit when I was a kid.

They stopped showing it on Nick at Nite, along with Home Improvement and the Fresh Prince.  Unless they're showing it really late at night when I'm sleeping.

Full House is more or less the only reason I'll watch ABC Family.  They have a countdown to a countdown.  wtf?

Oh, hey, someone should mention M.A.S.H.  I love the later seasons with Honeycut, Winchester, and Potter in the cast.

You think that's bad, remember that time I flew a canoe into Aunt Jamima's pizza in an elevator?

Yes, because every situation on Full House was suitable for toddlers to watch.

If your issue is with how M.A.S.H. got rather preachy near the end (arguably taking away a bit of the comedy edge in the process), dude, several sitcoms got anvilicious as well.

We should talk about That '70s show too. And while we're at it, the awesomeness of Leo and Tommy Chong!

It isn't a family sitcom because it isn't about a family, HNS.  :P

Hey, I love M*A*S*H!

Roseane is pretty funny. The only FAMILY sitcom I'll at least listen to while I'm doing something else.

Who doesn't love M*A*S*H? I'm just saying, it's like saying Dumbo is an anime movie. The same basic medium, but the two are in seperate categories.

I lol'd.
I never really got into Full House. It was...too retro for my tastes back then.

Whocares, are you aware that people not related by blood can form bonds that are family-like in nature?  If you can sit there and tell me that the main cast of M.A.S.H. hadn't grown into a family by the end of the series, I have lost all faith in you.

...

Full House, a series set in the late 1980's/early 1990's, was too retro in the late 1980's/early 1990's?

Yeah, that is really, really odd, thinking it was too retro just when it came out.
