I assume the question-marked ones are the tough decisions.

No, that's me being lazy and not deleting the question mark at the end of the question :D I fix now.

In interest of fairness, I deleted the ones where I did not see one or both of the options.

Not a word about how few remained or how many were taken out.

1. Robin Hood
13. The Jungle Book (I don't really care for either, but if I have to choose...)
14. Spirited Away
16. The Lion King  (Kitties! =D )

HNS, very few remained, and a very significant number were taken out.

Also, which ones did you not see?

Voting for the first six ends today at midnight, and the latter six tomorrow at midnight. As of right now, the vote on RT is like:

1. Dumbo (22) < Robin Hood (43)
2. Ghost in the Shell (20) < Akira (32)
3. Hercules (15) < The Prince of Egypt (40)
4. The Iron Giant (36) > Kiki's Delivery Service (23)
5. The Little Mermaid (28) < Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (32)
6. Grave of the Fireflies (19) > The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (9)
7. The End of Evangelion (20) > Yellow Submarine (11)
8. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (13) < Perfect Blue (21)
9. Pinocchio (31) > Persepolis (17)
10. My Neighbor Totoro (26) > Fantasia (23)
11. The Great Mouse Detective (19) < Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (25)
12. Howl's Moving Castle ( 8 ) < Whisper of the Heart (25)
13. Sleeping Beauty (13) < The Jungle Book (36)
14. Spirited Away (38) > Beauty and the Beast (27)
15. Princess Mononoke (32) > The Secret of NIMH (11)
16. The Lion King (53) > Aladdin (13)

I can't belive Robin Hood outvoted Dumbo, and ditto for Whisper of the Heart trumping Howl's Moving Castle. Still, at least Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame aren't moving on.

I'll give you Hercules, and possibly Hunchback if you read the book and liked it better, but I loved Hunchback of Notre Dame.  I should totally watch it again.

So, the ones hosting this have added an extra round: Basically, the 16 winners are in Column A, and the 16 losers in Column B. During the next three days, members (with over 500 posts on the forums) are given two votes for each column, and they can either give both of the two to a single film or one vote to two films. Examples, using Column B:

Column B:
Beauty and the Beast (2 votes)

or

Column B:
The Little Mermaid (1 vote)
Kiki's Delivery Service (1 vote)

The four with the most votes in each column will randomly be pit against each other. The four winners, and the twelve remaining movies from Column A will move on to Round 2, while the others will lose.

HOWEVER, there is a catch: If the fourth place movie in either column does not have at least eight votes, this extra round will be abandoned and all sixteen winners from Round 1 will move.

Column A (winners)

I choose:

Column A:
Jungle Book (2 votes...why? Because the sequel made the first one suck.)

Column B:
Hunchback of Notre Dame (Who didn't see me choosing this one? Music is superior to any other Disney movie...except Fantasia.)

Aladdin (This is funny! How could you not like this one?)

All of my available votes go to Secret of NIMH. come on people.

Well, the extra round was cancelled because there were not enough votes, which is odd considering how many people wanted an extra round. Anyway, on to Round 2. I'll keep updating this post when new matches are announced:

1. The Lion King vs. Akira
2. Grave of the Fireflies vs. Whisper of the Heart
3. Spirited Away vs. Princess Mononoke
4. The Prince of Egypt vs. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
5. The Jungle Book vs. Robin Hood
6. My Neighbor Totoro vs. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
7. The Iron Giant vs. Pinocchio
8. Perfect Blue vs. The End of Evangelion

As for me:

1. I hate both, but Akira
2. Grave of the Fireflies
3. Spirited Away
4. I haven't seen either of them, but because I hate Batman, The Prince of Egypt
5. The Jungle Book
6. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
7. Pinocchio
8. I don't care for either, but Perfect Blue is the lesser of the two evils

Okay, I'm sorry, but this statement really bugged me.

Listen, you can't just vote against a movie you've never seen for a movie you've never seen just because you "hate Batman." You're showing unfair prejudice, and based on what? You've never seen the movie. You might like the movie, for all you know! If you want to be a good movie reviewer, or a reviewer of any kind, you simply cannot hold pre-concieved notions about how "good" something is before you get to experience it for yourself. A good reviewer is as impartial as possible and tries hard to keep an open mind, which you are clearly not doing, and it seems to happen frequently in your reviews.

Again, sorry, but it bugged me. I'm not trying to be a jerk; I'm just trying to give some constructive criticism to help you be a better reviewer.

I'd cast my own votes, but I can't do so fairly since I've only seen two of the movies listed.

I can, and I did. Besides, some of those who voted have confessed to not seeing either movies is previous rounds and voted anyway, and their votes were counted. If they can, why can't I?

That's rather low of you, Shika, comparing a competition to the Holocaust.

Anyway, two more matches have been announced:

The Jungle Book vs. Robin Hood
My Neighbor Totoro vs. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

I'm just saying, it's a terrible excuse. Exaggeration helps. And seriously, you can't consider yourself a critic if you don't hold yourself to standards.

Try to remember: When was the last time I actually called myself a critic? A long time ago.

Okay, Round 3 has begun:

1. The Iron Giant vs. The Jungle Book
2. Whisper of the Heart vs. The End of Evangelion
3. My Neighbor Totoro vs. Spirited Away
4. The Lion King vs. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

As for me:

1. The Iron Giant
2. Whisper of the Heart
3. Spirited Away
4. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (I loathe The Lion King so much)
