Title: New developments on the Big N front.
Post by: HylianHero92 on January 06, 2010, 01:56:26 PM
Exciting news  (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/06/nintendo-ds2-to-feature-movement-sensor-new-wii-zelda-2010/)everyone!

For those too lazy to read, Nintendo has disregarded what they said earlier about Zelda Wii not being released within 2010 and plans to have it to you in "less than 365 days away".

Also, they plan to create a completely new DS with iPhone-esque motion sensors and highly-detailed graphics.

Oh, and then there's that:

The Vitality senor will be released mid-july after Nintendo holds a press-conference about it. Joy.  ::)

Like the article said, I raise an eyebrow over Nintendo's release date for Zelda

As do I, but I won't be too upset over a delay, seeing as it will just enhance the game.

Zelda Wii is coming out sooner than expected?  I hope it's because they're finishing it sooner than they expected and not because they're rushing to get it out before 2011.

I'm not sure I need motion sensors in my DS, especially considering I tend to move around a bit to find more comfortable positions every now and then; I can imagine that ruining a few games.

I think Nintendo said that it's been in production since Twilight Princess was released, so the game may very well be in the late alpha stage or even the beta stage at this time.

Regardless, it's exciting. :D

Ah, I was getting ready to post this.  Thanks for beating me to it.

It's going to be interesting on how they plan on "altering" the traditional Zelda game flow.

However they do it, I pray they don't reveal too much like they did with Twilight Princess.

Same here. This time, I'll wait and be shocked. However, I hope Ganondorf still plays a role...

You know, the Gamecube didn't get much attention at all during it's later years, and ever since the release of the Wii, the only thing we see on a day to day basis is information regarding the "latest and most creative idea for a Wii remote addon yet!", and we hardly see any games at all. The newest Nintendo exclusive, that I have, which is better then average is SSBB, and that game has been out for quite a while now! We need to get more games on the Wii! Get it to follow in it's older brother's footsteps (par say) and put a Soul Caliber game on! Announce a new Star Wars game set for release alongside Zelda! SOMETHING!

If the 2010 Zelda game is the only game we know is going to be released within the next year, then sadly, Nintendo is lost. Mario, your attendance helps, but not by much. At least we finally got a good Call of Duty game, but we're a sequal behind! WHAT IS THE DEAL?!?!?

I agree.  The 'Dorf can't be the only villain with ambitions to rule Hyrule or use the Triforce for his own selfish needs.  Or maybe a her; it would be nice to see more female Big Bads, and I'm not entirely sure we should even be counting Veran or Twinrova.  I'm sure Mags will know what I'm talking about when I say that they fit the role of the Dragon more than the Big Bad.

Indeed, I do. The more Big Bads who have the potential to create saga stories within Zelda, like Ganondorf and Vaati, instead of being scrapped the first time, like (potentially) Majora, Bellum, and Malladus, the better. Ganondorf's had his chance for many games, and each time, he's pretty much failed. He's never going to win, I feel, and putting him into a future game at this time will only reinforce that feeling. Plus, the concept of villains being hijacked by him (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HijackedByGanon) (speaking of which, HnS, Veran probably wouldn't count if we're talking in respect to that) has been done to death.

In retrospect, Zant was very well set up...but then we got to Ganondorf. Effectiveness dropped drastically, since we already knew what Ganondorf was capable of. However, it's probably justified due to the Split Timeline Theory; Ganondorf still wasn't dead, so assuming that this is the last time we see ol' Ganny for a long while, they had to do something to kill him off in both branches of the timeline. Otherwise, he still would've been floating around in the Twilight Realm, being bored out of his mind.

Yeah, about that Zelda being released in 2010... better luck next time (http://kotaku.com/5446501/reggie-dates-next-wii-zelda-for-when-its-perfect)?

On the other hand, as much as I love Mr. Piggy, I would love to see more Vaati love. I mean, he only showed up in three games (two of which being essentially the same game) and never in 3D.

Or, hell, even Dark Link being a final boss would be pretty cool. Going back to the good ol' Zelda II days.

I wasn't expecting it until December 2010, so having it come out in 2011 isn't a huge deal for me. Setting low expectations seems to have been a good idea at this point. Still, I know that by mid 2010 when they start releasing more information(and hopefully a trailer), I'll want to climb a mountain and freeze myself until it comes out.

I'd do it just so I wouldn't have to hear all the information. :P
