So now that we have established the fact that Nintendo is literally killing itself, does anyone have any recomendations for non-nintendo consoles?
How about you wipe the dust off your old DVD player instead?
We established this...where, again? >.>
I'd recommend the PS3. Solid console with a growing library of great games, $299, 120GB HDD that you can upgrade to pretty much any size, built-in wireless adapter, free online play, and it plays Blu-Ray discs. For the win!

Indeed. I think Nintendo still has great games on their consoles. Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, etc. And with the Wii's backward compatibility with GameCube games and the Virtual Console, you can continue playing your favorite games from previous generation consoles. Granted, the DS lost backward compatibility with Game Boy games from Color back, and the Advance games with the DSi, but with the improvements they made in those areas, it's quite understandable that they had to sacrifice backwards compatilibity, and it's not like you have to trade in your old handheld systems when you upgrade. I certainly have no desire to part with my GBA SP; how else would I play Link's Awakening, the Oracle games, and other Game Boy titles I missed out on?
But that's not to say I won't support the PS3 either (or the PSP for that matter); like TW said, it boasts an impressive library as well as other features that would make it worth the $299.
If anything, it's the Xbox I'm iffy about getting; several of the games in its library that I'd like to play can be bought for either the Wii or the PS3, so why bother shelling out the money for the Xbox version?
I totally agree with you there, PS3 has better graphics, online content and Blu-Ray. Xbox just can't win with that. But I will not say that Nintendo is Fail yet, I still love almost every game I buy from them. And IMO they have the most replay value compared to most of the other systems putting out shooters and racing games and whatnot. I can only blast someones head off so much before it gets repetitive.
Got an X-Box 360 for Christmas, and I've sunk hours into it already. Dragon Age Origins was beast, and Oblivion is pretty awesome too. If you're looking for a good console, I'd recommend it. My friend Tailor has a PS3 and he seems pretty happy with it. I've heard nothing but good things about it, but I can't base a personal opinion on it. Late nights talking to all my friends on X-Box live has been awesome in and of itself, and you can get an entire package for $299. Definitely worth it, and I can recommend a butt-load of awesome games. Also, my friend got Borderlands and says it's the shizwhiz, so if you wind up going with Sony, That'd be a buyer. I watched my cousin play it the other night at his birthday, and it looked straight up gangster. Only reason I'm still hanging onto Nintendo is because of Zelda, Pokemon, and Fire Emblem. As far as good platforming Pokemon games go, I don't think we'll be seeing anything good for a while. It's all about the Handheld now, and I haven't heard much about Fire Emblem lately either. If they screw up this next Zelda game, I'm never buying another Nintendo home console again. Plain and simple. A lot of people around the net seem to have similar feeling with me. Here's to hoping Nintendo knocks it out of the park...
:-* <-- not hopeful.
Hey don't get me wrong ZV I like my 360 (and just to let you know borderlands looks so much better on PS3) but the PS3 just wraps me more so that the 360 can. Of course I still do play all three of the systems about the same so.... yea.....

While I myself am hopeful that
Zelda Wii will be awesome...Nintendo, based on the above criterion, I think you lost a customer. u.u
I'm greatly concerned for Nintendo's well-being-- and if I had to recommend any other console, it'd be the big bulky backwards-compatible version of the PS3. They might still be like $400 but it's worth ever penny. Besides, and this is for Whocares, it also functions as a Blu-ray player :D
I would recommend the 360.
I bought one for myself in September, and I have sunk so many hours into that thing it's not healthy. Plus it was pretty cheap as I got it pre-owned for about £120 (but reconditioned).
I got it mainly for the games, I prefer the 360 exclusives to the PS3s but a lot of good games are cross-platform. So if you are choosing I would say it depends on your priorities, you might want to look at which games you prefer or maybe the on line play? (360 has a bigger community I think, but of course PS3 on line is free and it comes with wi-fi).
But I am pretty biased, I would not swap my Xbox for a PS3 to the world, especially not with the Mass Effect 2 release at the end of this month!!

That's how I felt at first, then I played on the PS3 and fell in love, but I still like both of them, but if I had to choose a game that's coming out for both it would have to be PS3. Plus, MAG is amazing and I want the full version now!!!!
