Title: Emotionally touching moments in anything
Post by: The Glamour Nazi on January 19, 2010, 08:00:53 AM
Yes, I made a topic for discussing moments you find emotionally touching in anything, due to the very nature of this thread all types of spoilers will be posted to various things.

I will now list my favorite emotional moments

1; Clannad, when Fuuko disappeared after her sisters wedding (I cried), Sunohara and Tomoya's fight in Clannad Afterstory, Tomoya's fight with the gang in Clannad afterstory and the aftermath, And finally Tomoya's graduation episode (I voted for this episode as the greatest anime episode EVER)

2; Chobits, Yumi and Manager Ueda's moment when they make up with each other, And when Chii tells Hideki she loves him.

3; Persona 4, When Nanako dies/is brought back, the very end when you get on the train (bad ending), and the entirety of the good ending.

4; Myself;Yourself, Everything in the anime from when after the Twins run away.

5; The ending of the A Link to the Past Manga.

Feel free to post any moments you found emotionally touching in anything.

I actually cried when Chouji died in Naruto.
Only time I think I've ever cried watching an anime.

As far as movies go, I almost cried at the end of "Pay it Forward".

Strange, my entire class laughed the entire time we watched Pay It Forward.

I cried at a couple points in Pay It Forward. I was really young, too...man, when did I watch that...?

Also, I just killed Sniper Wolf. Talk about timing.

In one of the season finales of House, there was that part where House figured out that they couldn't save Wilson's wife, so Wilson woke her up from her coma so he could say goodbye.

Dude, I cried so hard when I killed her in the Gamecube version.  With a lot of the bosses, actually.  ESPECIALLY THE FURY IN MGS3 OMG TEARFEST

I lost it in a lot of House episodes.  All manly-tears, of course, but still-- I'm talking like 40% here.

Okay The episodes of Clannad afterstory from episode 15-18. I was crying from sadness.

**SPOILER** Pretty much when you figure out Nagisa will die in childbirth to where Tomoya makes up with Ushio, his daughter, and finally understands why his dad acts like he does. **SPOILER END*

Moar Spoiler** The episode of Clannad where Ushio dies as they go to the train station is the most excrutiatingly sad moment I've ever felt in an anime. I almost started trying to keep ushio going, only I was in public. Also when I watched the true ending in the show and watched the review episode, I felt more happy then I have from any anime.SPOILER DONE**

TITANIC.

I cried like three separate times during that film.
And there are a lot of children's programmes that upset me, mostly ones involving lost pets, I was a very weak child.

I saw Cleo from 5 to 7 yesterday, and it was touching without taking the simple mawkish route, so I'm going with that.

Psycho Mantis :(

And don't even get me started on Meryl. Man, if I'm crying this much in the first game...I'm going to drown when I play the later games with better graphics and (possibly) better writing.

Also, if anyone here has seen Babar...I watched it as a child all the time, and it always made me cry at the beginning. Now we're watching it in French, and I STILL GET SAD.

Pff, Meryl wasn't sad at all, she was such an uninteresting character. (of course, YMMV)

But yeah, if you bawwed at the first and second and third games, then the fourth will kill you.

kill you

Mind changed from all my previous posts, Episode 21-22 of Clannad is the best.

I plan on starting other Visual Art's anime so I'll tell you if they top Clannad's emotional connection.

Why would you show me that Whocares?
That was sick, and I advise anyone reading this not to watch that  ???

edit: Although it is emotionally touching, just not in the good way. I don't have a right to be upset at you for putting that here, because it DOES belong in a thread like this, but still... It's one of those things I wish I could unsee.

The saddest thing is that things like that really did happen.

Don't worry, though, ZV is making it sound like some type of Texas Chainsaw Massacre-type thing. It's really about the Holocaust, but still very touching.

Meryl Streep really did deserve her Oscar for that movie, too.

It was less Meryl's injury and more Snake and the Colonel's reaction to it.

I wish I COULD play the fourth game; I need a PS3.

Um, you guys might want to spoil tag stuff, lest readers who haven't yet watched/played/whatever the stuff you guys are referring to form an angry mob.

Meh, it's one of those "You should know this already" moments. I'm just terribly behind on things. Besides, we're not saying what it is that makes things sad. I mean, Wolf and Mantis are your enemies, so you know you're going to kill them eventually.

That's "It Was His Sled," ZV. "You Should Know This Already" is rather different. XD

...Man, I've been at TV Tropes for far too long... XD

The video I posted is of the only scene anyone really cares about, so you might as well remove the rest of the movie and just watch those four minutes.

The ending of the 6th Harry Potter movie. I cried.  :(
Also, the funeral scene of FMA, right after Maes Hughe's death. His daughter's cries made me cry to high heaven.
Also, we put our cat down today. I cannot believe it had to end this way.  :(

I Cried at some of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's more Awesome moments. Like... all of episode 15... and then from like episode 20 onwards.

Either I'm too emotional, or my brain doesn't handle pure awesome very well.

Playing MGS2 now, and I can already tell that Fortune is going to make me cry a lot. The end of the first fight with her made me cry, then made me feel completely unjustified in crying a few minutes later. Gah.

The ending to Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Freakin' heartbreaking. ;_;

It doesn't help that Episode Three has yet to see any kind of release date, even a vague one.

Should I look at that as a spoiler? I haven't completed the orginal HL2 yet.

I've always found the scene in The Godfather Part II when a young Vito tells his infant son that he loves him to be very touching.

No, I'd say not. I'd heard the same before I finished Episode Two, but the ending didn't shock me any less. Just don't go looking the ending up or anything and you'll be okay.

Right now, the part of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series finale when Iroh and Zuko meet again comes to mind.

Zuko: Uncle. I know you must have mixed feelings about seeing me. But I want you to know, *cries* I am so, so sorry, Uncle. I am so sorry and ashamed of what I did. I don't know how I can ever make it up to you, but I-- *Iroh immediately hugs Zuko*
Zuko: How can you forgive me so easily!? I thought you'd be furious with me!
Iroh: I was never angry with you. I was sad, because I was afraid that you had lost your way.
Zuko: I did lose my way.
Iroh: And you found it again. And you did it all by yourself. And I am so happy you found your way here.
Zuko: It wasn't that hard, Uncle. You have a pretty strong scent.

Funny as the comic relief at the end was, I can still feel the pressure in my eyes... :'(

Finished Metal Gear Solid 2, and much crying did happen throughout. Though the end was just...freaky? Odd. It was very odd.

Also, reading Othello. Much sobbing.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is much more cry-worthy.  You'll also probably find yourself crying at parts you didn't expect to, like The Fury and The End (mostly when you see The End again in the River)

Awk!  Grandpa, GRANDPA!  Awk!

I'm not sure if I posted it, It's a Gunslinger Girl spoiler, don't read without knowing what happens in volumes 5 and 7.

**SPOILER** but in Gunslinger Girl Volume 5 Triela faces off with Pinocchio and takes a key to the eye, you learn earlier in the series that the cyborgs one true weak point is their eye. Anyway she takes a key to the eye and then jabs her hand into Pino's neck killing him. You get a shot of both laying on the ground.

I started sobbing.

Turns out she lived through it, just barely. And then her handler, who always treated her sort of distantly hugs her.

Commence heavy crying.

Then it turns out in volume 7 that the fight with Pino she had to use so much of the medication and she ends up dying.

Commence deep sadness.

**End Spoiler**

Also, in an emotional song moment, the song Hotarubi from Tales of Legendia is really good, I get emotional listening to it.

Possible Criminal Minds spoilers ahead....

The ending of tonight's Criminal Minds was the most touching one since Hotchner's ex-wife died.
