For those of you who don't know, apparently, steampowered.com is having a free Portal download until May 24th!
Link here. (http://store.steampowered.com/app/400)
GOGOGOGOGOGO!
I laready beat the game and don't need to play it again.
seems cool though.
I WANT THE SECOND ONE THOUGH TT_TT
Crud, now it wants to play sideways. Who programmed that? ???
What? mine is fine XD
FYI, Steam and Portal are both now available for the Mac, as well. Team Fortress 2 is expected soon.
Also, I'm not 100% on this, but this may only be free for a certain period of time. That is, if you want to keep using the game after May 24th, you have to pay for it. At least, that's what I got when I read the announcement.
I will make a recommendation, however: If your computer can run Portal acceptably, do yourself a gigantic favor and buy The Orange Box. Five outstanding games, including Portal and Team Fortress 2, for $30! However, I'd wait to buy it if you decide to: The Engineer update is definitely coming soon, possibly within the next month, and I guarantee you Team Fortress 2 and probably the whole Orange Box will be on sale when it comes.
Also, Mags, what exactly is happening with your game? I can probably help you at least somewhat.
ORANGE BOX IS AMAZING.... I have it for PS3 but sometimes I feel like doing something while not at home so... Yea it helps to just have it downloaded
I used to play it on my PS3, but now that I have a good gaming desktop, I've retired it. Team Fortress 2 is so incredibly better on the PC that there's no comparison between the two versions. Every other game in The Orange Box is far superior on the PC, as well.

If you can help me, me love you long time.
Anyway, my problem is that I'm using Steam to load up the game, and it does it fine, except for the fact that it rotates the screen 90
o. I've looked on Google, and the only advice that it gives me is to use the Ctrl + Alt + Arrow Keys, and while that works for rotating the game -90
o from its normal orientation, it only switches back to sideways right after I rotate it the right way.
That's really weird.
Do you have any commands in your Launch Options? Any autoconfigs set up?
Also, what are your system specs? Maybe you've got a part that doesn't care for Portal.
I don't have any autoconfigs that I know of.
As for my specs, this is what it says:
Dell Inspiron |1520
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
T5750 @ 2.00 GHz
2.00 GHz, 2.99 GB of RAM
