sooo basically tonight around midnight you could possibly see aurora borealis activity because of a CME (coronal mass ejection) caused by a solar flare.
sounds soooo cooooool
That would be cool to see. Here is a link to a short article on the event. (http://www.geekosystem.com/coronal-mass-ejection-geomagnetic-storm-2010/)
I don't know if I can really see anything, haha.
But then again, I'm a little nervous to go outside this late at night.
I'm in the city, and down south to boot. I highly doubt I'll be able to see it with my own eyes. But I'm sure I'll be able to find pictures of it on the Internet tomorrow.
unfortunately, i didnt see anything.
i might have if i would've followed through with my plan to drive out to the country side, but instead i went to the dollar theatre with my boyfriend and saw iron man 2 (which by the way was pritty good, i liked the set up for thor after the credits)
but yeah.. im disappointed :(
I didn't see anything either.
...Wow. Where was the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!
turns out something actually did show up in the sky between 3 and 4 AM on the 4th, i was asleep :-* my friend ryan saw it.
but, *anchorman voice* IN OTHER NEWS: there's a meteor shower on the 12th, its a relatively big one, 50 per hour.
that should be hard to miss...
Assuming it's also not at 4 A.M.
Still, at least the unfortunate time wasn't as disappointing as having to miss the lunar eclipse a couple years ago or so because of freaking clouds. >_<
Oh, yeah, I remember that. Don't worry, it wasn't too exciting.
You were able to see it? Dang, it's amazing how much cloud cover can differ significantly over only a few miles.
so the meteor shower was last night... unfortunately i didnt see anything. BUT several of my friends did.
ive come to the conclusion that im either astronomically blind, or just completely unlucky 8)
The girlfriend and I saw quite a few.
Aw, crap, I forgot to look for them.
Aww, ditto. DX

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's always wrong place, wrong time for me, too.
