Well, it seems like it's almost time for another election in Michigan. Needless to say, I'm not really looking forward to all the weird looks from people who will say, "Oh, it's your responsibility to vote!" or, "People have died for that right. You should use it!" when they hear that I really don't want to vote. It's not only because that I am (and I'm actually quite ashamed to admit this) rather lazy about the matter; but it's also because I simply don't know whom to vote for, and given all the crap that I'm sure that many of the candidates have already spewed in the citizens' direction, I'm not sure if I even want take the time out of my day to sift through it all.
"Exercise your right," they say. Well, do I not have a right to not exercise it as I wish? Besides, I have very little faith in the political system, especially after seeing all the crap that my mom has to deal with at work (she works for the State, you see). Believe it or not, she has to deal with bullies on a regular basis, and what do the other people at work do to take care of the problem? Nothing. Absolutely freaking nothing. You'd think that the higher-ups would do something about the actually-corrupt hierarchy that Michigan's state system has actually become, but nooooooo. They're likely "too busy" to deal with the people who don't care to fix their own problems. I doubt the upcoming election will make things any different.
I have virtually no belief that whomever is voted for is going to fix the corruption, let alone most of Michigan's other problems. Why, then, should I even bother picking my poison? It's just a waste of time. I implore you, candidates for Michigan's governor. Give me one good reason why I should take time out of my schedule to vote for any of you.
I feel almost exactly the same way. I don't know enough about any of the candidates to make an informed decision, and I don't think it is worth the time it would take to try to figure out who the best ones are.

On a serious note, they also died for your right to not vote. As odd as that may sound, the great thing about this country is that you're never forced to decide who you want to represent you.
If you don't want to vote, that's fine. That's your choice.
Exactly, and I'm glad. However, it seems that in the edjumacated community, if you don't vote, you're thoughtless or irresponsible. I don't like it... Then again, what else is new? People constantly look down on those who go against the status quo.

RAW RAW FIGHT THE POWER!
Anyway, on a serious note, I'm not yet old enough to vote, but I think I will when I get the chance, along with doing proper research on the candidates, since you really can't believe much of whay you hear on the commercials.
I'll be old enough to vote in the next Presidential election, so you can bet I will. I feel like it's my responsibility to be informed on the issues and the candidates and exercise my right to voice my opinion on who will run the country.
You know, Mags, if you can overcome your laziness, you could just make a mockery out of the process. Use the write-in vote for fictional characters. If I get out there, I'm thinking about electing Sauron or Xenahort to Virginia's Congress seat.

Xehanort's a bit busy with Arizona, I'm afraid.
Still, yeah. If they can bring it online, that'd be cool. Come to think of it, I'd be more apt to vote if they did bring the ballot online. Not sure if they did, though...

I can totally see /b/ destroying elections if that happened.
If the ballot programmers were too lazy/incompetent to implement a state-of-the-art security encryption, then I could see it, too.
That's basically what absentee voting is for.
My parents always mail in their ballots.
I didn't know you could mail it.
Yeah, this was my first time, so I had my parents tell me who to vote for. That and I don't seem to care enough about politics to actually let the stuff dished at me do anything in my head. It just goes in one ear, out the next.
