Sure it sounds like the sh*t, but is it really?

I'm just kidding. It'll probably have a lot of improvements since the last SSB.

I'd give you five minutes, depending on how many lives you got and the type of battle.

Hope they give Ganon his own character type this time, instead of just re-using captain falcon...

Will they have Vaati? (Both eye-ball form and human form.)
Title: Re:Super Smash Bros. Revolution!
Post by: Hi no Seijin on May 06, 2006, 12:04:10 PM
Probably just the human form.  It be hard playing as an eyeball.  I mean, what all can you do without hands?  But then, he can just use wind to pick stuff up with.

Ever notice how I contradict myself?

I would like to, but odds are that I can't.  Besides, I'm more used to the N64 controller than the Gamecube one.  I'd probably lose 1st round too.

You know nintendo did start out as a card company. They also might have Fawful from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, just type his name in the wikipedia and scroll all the way down. I also hope they have shadow Link, and Doopliss. (from paper mario 2)

It was a fact I knew, forgotten, and recently re-learned.  Thank you for that tidbit, Aero.  I hope they have Dark (or Shadow) Link also; he's an awesome mini-boss, but he deserves to be the boss of the Water Temple in OoT.  It would be interesting to play as him.

Uh, look at the post dates 2006.

This was when brawl was first announced back when the Wii was still called the revolution.

In other words. Fail.

Still, a new brawl would be a little nice. My brawl is old, and I want people to stop hacking it. I miss the good old days when tripping actually made the game fun. Instead now everyone blocks it and most of the cool characters got nerfed.

I totally bet he thought it was real.

Although, the "Dead topic" thing might have tipped him off.

I give it a 60/40 on the fail side.

It's completely pointless.

At least revive a topic with decent revival value.

Like the Grammar one or something.

Most of them got buffed actually. :P (Unless when you say, "Cool," you mean all the high-tiered characters.) And the characters who did get nerfed deserved it. (Uair, Uair, 'Nado, baby.)

Plus, tripping was a stupid mechanic.

I always thought tripping added some realism.

Although it did happen just a little often.

And if all characters get buffed then they also get nerfed.

Potayto, potato.

The speculations people had in this thread were fun to look at. :)

I wonder when they'll come out with another Smash Bros.

Oh, and yeah, for the record (I can't believe I have to say this) I was only reviving an old thread for the lulz. Somebody told me yesterday that I'd make a terrible necromancer. That being my favorite class for anything, I decided to display my beastly skill and bring this topic back from the dead.

Darn, I was wrong.

And you do make a horrible necromancer. At least post some crappy fake link to some not SB site

It still baffles me to this day that there aren't any plans for a portable Smash Bros. game.

Given Nintendo and their affection for money, it'd seem like a sure thing.

If the 3DS can handle enhanced remakes of N64 games, I would certainly hope there'll be a Smash Bros. for it.  With a Dual Wielding Roxas to boot.

Fixed. >:3

However they go about doing it, I just hope that they can readily patch the game to balance it out. I doubt they'd do that, though; they don't seem to care about competition. There probably wouldn't be much incentive for them to do that anyway.

Nintendo doesn't regularly update their games. X-Box releases new outfits for characters in Street Fighter now and again. Nintendo hasn't done anything like that for brawl.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Revolution!

That's probably because the console they designed had online connectivity and internal storage slapped on as an afterthought rather than thought about from the beginning. >_>

If they can make updates to patch vulnerabilities (poor Twilight Hack...), then I'm quite sure they can make updates to balance characters.

System firmware and game patches are two different deals, though. Though the firmware file can be deleted once it's used to update the system, the patch has to remain on the system to work. Since Nintendo only gave the Wii a measly 512MB of internal storage, whereas consoles like the PS3 and 360 all have much larger dedicated hard drives (the smallest for either being 40 times larger than the Wii's capacity) for storing stuff, including patches, I don't think any kind of patch is gonna happen.

It's really a shame since it means if the devs. don't get it just right on release, they blew it. They can't say "well, I guess we missed this bug, so we're gonna put a patch out for it to fix it" like they could on any other system. They're stuck. That or they could fix the game, re-release it, and allow people to exchange their games for the updated versions, losing much more money in the process.

Nintendo really wasn't thinking ahead. ._.

Brawl-'s .GCT file, the kind of file that's applied to change game physics and even how the game can read files, is only a few kilobytes in size (less than twenty, in fact); and that's including Phantom Wings' File Patch Code that allows for streaming music files from the SD card and loading textures. Provided Nintendo reprograms its game loader slightly to accept modular files, it can dedicate a section of the Wii's internal memory to patches and patch its games without virtually any problem.

I think the problem is more of an economical nature than a technical one, really. There wouldn't be money in it, so why would they do it?

What I'm saying, basically, is that you can balance characters considerably with both another way to load up your game and a file that's miniscule, even by the Wii's standards.
