A question lots of fans are asking. So what do you think? As for me, as much as I would like for it to be Vaati or someone like him, I highly doubt it. I think he's going to possibly be either the main villain or a semi-main villain.
I think he'll be the main villain. I didn't really like that Zant wasn't the main villain like we were led to believe from the start. I hope this game is magically fascinating like Majora's Mask was. Everything is like a dream- a fantasy that captivates the player's mind. This new villain looks like he could be a master of trickery or deceit. I really like the cut of his jib, is what I'm trying to say.
Right! I know a lot of people are complaining about the graphics, but I think the graphics look cool. Almost like a painting and it almost looks sort of surreal and I hope that reflects what the white-haired guy will be like. Just strange and out of this world.
I'm thinking he's a new guy, but I like his style so far.
HYPE.
DUDE WHAT IS IT ABOUT GRAPHICS?!?!?!
I happen to like this style. I think this is how a lot of modern games should be...like Sonic the Hedgehog. But I digress.
I think he would make an awesome main villain. Sorta like Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. He could be like...a demi-god of lies and deceit.
Dude, that would be incredible. No more of this untempered malice, we are need tom-foolery and mischief on a grand scale!
NOOOO NOT LIKE Kefka!!!! That jerk... with the losing and still wining and whatnot >.> but yea I really hope he turns to be a brutal new villain

He does seem to give off that air, doesn't he? Ooh, this is getting interesting.
Me and my friends were actually talking about this lately! from what we saw in the trailers, we guessed he was like the master sword lady, but could that indicate he's NOT the main bad guy? idk... maybe he's just magic gone bad...
He certainly doesn't seem friendly, that's for sure. I hope they give him a fleshed-out backstory like with Zant and Midna in Twilight Princess if he really is the main antagonist. Lately, the new villains haven't been getting a lot of character development, but it's not like you see them for that long anyway.
Same here. Malladus, Cole, and Bellum were kind of one-dimensional. I like how they at least gave Byrne a backstory, though. I hope they give this new villain a backstory. I can't wait to find out what his name is as well. ;D
Knowing the latter two console games, they probably will give him a backstory. After all, you can't give a guy that has a look on his face that says, "Yeah, I know I'm cool," no backstory, can you?
Come to think of it, we don't even know Steve's name yet, do we?
Skyward Sword, come out sooner! :V
You mean the girl on the poster? Nintendo said that her name would either be Adelle, Aderu, or Adella. Somewhere along those lines.

LINKS. SHOW MEH.
I forgot where it was I saw the interview, but if you browse Google searching "aderu zelda" "adelle zelda" or "adella zelda" you're sure to find something eventually.
Doesn't seem like I can find anything definitive. It still seems like it's just a rumor right now.
Only I saw it in an interview.
If it's an interview, then it's certainly hard to find one that isn't related to the 2chan one.
2chan one? What do you mean?
Oh, wait, they didn't do an interview, did they...? Ah, I must've been thinking of the rumors that they started spreading months back, one of the rumors being her name being one of the above.
All I rememeber about the rumours about her name was the whole "Steve" thing but whatever.
The Steve thing wasn't a rumor; that's just a fan nickname because there was no official name released.
Yeah; a rumour. Some fans started up the nickname and it got around as a rumour that it was going to be her name...to the more gullible fans, that is.
Some people actually believed that "Steve" was going to be her name? I find that pretty funny, actually. XD
But I also hear that some people are calling the new dude "Steve." I guess the One Steve Limit doesn't apply in the fandom here.
I almost kind of wonder if they'll reveal the new villain's name (if that's what he is) before the game comes out or in the instruction manual. I know Zant's name wasn't really revealed until a little ways into the game...at least not to my knowledge. Something tells me that's what Nintendo is going to do since they've been doing a good job keeping all the juicy details of him from us fans.
Found the guy's name: Demon Lord Ghirahim
Well, it's not Vaati, but that's still a pretty sweet name. Here's the video I found on him. http://www.zelda.in/2011/06/mysterious-and-flamboyant-%E2%80%9Cdebbie%E2%80%9D-character-revealed/ I liked the part where he licked his lips at about 0:40. XD And here's the new trailer, by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnv8VwGjfs0&feature=autoshare
Looks like Link and the people of Skyloft will be able to ride birds and about the girl. She almost reminds me of Aryll somehow. By the way, we all know what the villain's name is, but what about the sword girl? I heard on some website they called her Zordiana but they had it stricken through as if it's not her real name. Is it just another nickname like Steve or is this the canon name?
Awesome trailer and lip-licking were awesome. I think we have a new memetic molester on our hands. XD
And with that, flying is confirmed! :D
As for the girl...I really, really think that's Zelda. I'm typically going on her hairstyle here, but if you look at how her hair is tied, you'll notice that it looks a lot like Zelda's hairstyle in Twilight Princess (and, by extension, Brawl; that's an easier way of seeing it, I think). ...Still, am I the only one who thinks that she looks more moe than usual this time around? 8D *smack*
The Zordiana thing is just another nickname, in the same league as Steve. ...Okay, not in the same league as Steve, as the former is much more formal and official-sounding, but you know what I mean.
EDIT: At long last, we got confirmation on Steve! Her real name is Fie. (http://www.1up.com/previews/e3-skyward-sword-wraps-familiar)
He's totally a molester. xD
And Fie? You're absolutely 100% sure? Not another fake name like Steve, Adelle, or Zordiana? I WILL NOT BE TRICKED AGAIN!!!! lol
It's either Fie or Phi. TV Tropes is a little inconsistent about it, and IGN reaffirmed it in their analysis of the new trailer.
I'm not sure which one I like better: the prettier-sounding former, or the awesome Greek-looking latter.
"Fie" almost sounds like "fly" which could potentially play into the whole flying, sky, all that jazz.
Whenever I see it "Phi", I can't help but think of a frat house.
Yeah, phi is prounounced "fee" anyway.
I think it'll be Fie.
My Bio teacher told us it was pronounced "Fye". Dang it, I've been had.

I use long
i's for Greek letters, personally, due to the fact that, after all, most people pronounce
pi with a long
i, as well. The same thing with
chi, even though some pronounce it a soft "ch" and a long
e, but I think that could possibly be attributed to a lack of understanding.
Of course, it's up to the speaker, like always; my vector calculus professor always pronounced
phi with a long
e himself.

I just know it's the golden ratio... And that the golden ratio is pronounced fee.
Anyway, back ontopic. Do you guys think that Ghirahim is going to be a semi-main villain or do you think that there's a bigger villain and if so, would it be Ganon or someone else? I personally think that since this game apparently is supposed to take place before OoT, that Ganon won't be in the picture.
My thoughts are the same there that Ganon isn't gonna be around. But you just can never know. I want to say that Ghirahim is gonna be the main boss, but it just doesn't feel like Nintendo if that were true. Though I wouldn't argue really either way I kinda want to see him as a final boss.

I don't understand your logic.
I think he might be like... A literal puppet of the main villain. The main dude is gonna be all like, "Aww... And I was having fun watching my puppets dance... That's right Link. You've been my puppet too... All along."
To clear up her logic, consider Ganondorf during Ocarina of Time. That was meant to be his "start of darkness," so to speak--his first rise to power. Introducing Ganondorf before then, during Skyward Sword, would be a blatant contradiction of this, and considering that Nintendo appears to really want to connect this game to OoT, they'd really be shooting themselves in the foot if they did.

Did they ever say anywhere that Ganon never existed prior to OoT?
Because if they did, I'd like a source. I'm not being a jerk here either, I just really want to have my Zelda facts straight when I engage another fan in a heated timeline debate.
If they ever said anywhere that Ganon never existed before Ganondorf, I'd be happy to admit it, and add it to my arsenal of timeline knowledge.
http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Split_Timeline_Theory
In Ocarina of Time, the King doesn't seem to be aware of how dangerous Ganon really is and Zelda just has a suspicion that he's going to do something evil. If Ganon was in any games prior OoT causing trouble, then wouldn't the King be a little more cautious and Zelda having more than just a prophetic dream to back up her suspicion of Ganon? So that's what makes me believe that's when Ganon "started his darkness".
Really, his name makes me thing of Aganihm (Or whatever his name was from ALttP) so I mean... I would expect him to SEEM like the real boss, only for something else to be behind him.
But for once, I would REALLY like a Zelda game NOT to have something like that (as a majority of them end up like this) and instead have them have him just be the big bad.
And I hope he's like Kefka. That'd be hardcore.

I'm pretty sure nothing explicit was said about it, which is probably what inevitably caused a lot of people to speculate that Ganon(dorf) would make an appearance. It all depends on your stance on the matter, I'd say; however, considering OoT's original placement on the timeline, when Ganondorf and his counterpart made reappearances throughout the series relative to the different game eras, and how
The Wind Waker introduced us to the good intentions behind his dastardly deeds back in
Ocarina of Time, it makes more sense to me that they'd remain faithful to that and not make a completely obvious retcon by introducing him again in
Skyward Sword. I'm not speaking for Vaati when I say this, but...

Indeed, it would. He really does have that air to him.
He does seem a lot like Kefka as far as looks, anyway. I have no idea what his personality is like since I haven't played Final Fantasy VI.
And what like Mags said, that's true that after explaining Ganon's initial intentions in The Wind Waker, that they probably wouldn't go into further elaboration in Skyward Sword especially since I believe that Ocarina of Time was the start of his rein of terror.
I think he will be a semi-main villain. But the way the series is going, he could end up being a brand new main villain for games to come.
From what the trailers and the demo battle with Ghirahim reveal, he certainly plays a very large role. I don't know if I'm remembering correctly, but I think when before Twilight Princess came out, Nintendo didn't really tell us who the villains would be. We eventually discovered it was Zant, but then later on we found out that he was more or less a vessel for Ganondorf's powers. Since this takes place before Ocarina of Time and I doubt Ganon will have anything to do with this game, that eliminates him from the picture.
From past experiences, I can't really decided whether I believe Ghirahim will be main or not but look on the bright side, we have...(looks at calendar) 95 days left until the North American release. :)
Well, Ganondorf being in the game has been, according to alex, confirmed to not be in the game. So Ghirahim being the main villain is seeming really likely...unless there's some other character that we, as you say, don't know about yet. We'll have to see, indeed. ;)
It would be a little disappointing if Ghirahim was the only villain in the game. I sort of liked not knowing about Zant in the beginning of TP. :) What I guess I mean to say is that I hope Nintendo didn't tell us everything. Christmas morning is no fun when you know what presents you're getting. Know what I mean?
I know exactly what you mean, and honestly, I hope they haven't said everything, either. Sadly, Nintendo has a tendency to reveal...quite a bit too early.
