In all seriousness, it seems that every time you buy something from Nintendo, you get a certain amount of points, and by collecting several Nintendo products, you can get various items worth various amounts of points.
Yeah. Pretty much every time you buy a Nintendo product, whether it be a 3DS, a Wii, or just some games, they have a little leaflet inside with the manual advertising Club Nintendo.
Along with that leaflet, there will be a PIN of some sort that you use to register it with your Club Nintendo account.
Wii games are usually worth 50 points, DS and Wiis are 160 points each, DS or 3DS games are worth 30.
Zelda posters cost me 400 points.
I got incredibly lucky though. The sheer majority of my Wii games are pre-owned games I bought at Gamestop that didn't have registered codes.
I got lucky, as well. My 3DS gave me 250 points because I registered it before the price drop, and of course, Ocarina of Time 3D got me thirty points. I was short 120 points, it seemed, and even with Skyward Sword, that was only fifty more...
And then the 3DS Ambassador program saved the day.
