Title: Weird Cameos
Post by: Hi no Seijin on May 09, 2006, 12:43:30 PM
In the opening sequence of OoT where the Great Deku Tree is calling Navi to him, he says, "Navi...Navi, where art thou?"  This is close to, "Romeo, Romeo, where art thou, Romeo?" of William Shakesphere's "Romeo and Juliet."  I think the Great Deku Tree has a thing for Navi.

No, it's only the way deities/gods speak. ;)

Actually, he's just a freaky old tree who doesn't know how people talk now a days.

He speaks ye old english.   ;D Bow-wows remind me of chain chainchomps from the Mario games....

Yeah, okay, but it's more fun to think he has a thing for Navi.  Hmm, I have an idea for a dialogue story...

I thought it was, "Wherefore art thou Romeo?" as in, "Why is your name Romeo?" since it was the name of her enemy.

However, I must say that the Great Deku Tree can really help you with Shakespeare.

Whatever.  I don't care much for Shakespeare.

Well, which gamer does? I mean, we can hardly understand anything that anybody says in that story.

I have to give kudos to Shakespeare for Hamlet's "To be or not to be" speech.  It provided a great strip for Calvin and Hobbes.

It also made a great "cameo" in The Fairly OddParents, when Tad and Chad made the movie "Hamlet," and Arnold Swartzengerman said, "To be or not to be...ANNIHILATED!?" ;D

But I digress... Well, Link made a cameo in SCII.

I'm well aware of that.  That's why I want SCII.

Romeo and Juliet are in TMC. Oh, and there's also a Mario cameo in TP. But before you guys go ahead and click on the link below, which leads to the official art where the Mario cameo, I must warn you. If Tingle freak you only a little bit, stay FAR away.

Even I had my doubts that they could create a character who's scarier than Tingle. They didn't just make one character, however, but TWO!O_o

I saw that coming, yet I still took a look.  What on earth is Nintendo thinking?  I'd rather have Tingle.

Exactly my thought. I wonder if this is a plan from Nintendo to make the western fans beg to get Tingle back.O_o

If it is, it's working.  I want Tingle.  At least he has the decency to cover his fat stomach.

Don't you mean when the mayor was playing Zelda and killed Navi?

In the tenth labor of Heracles, he shoots at the sun and gets a golden boat.  In OoT, Link shoots at the sun and gets Fire Arrows.  Hmm, I prefer the Fire Arrows.

Yeah, who doesn't? ;)

Anyway, I think Link made a minor cameo apperance in a Final Fantasy game. You read a tombstone in a certain version of the game, and it says, "Here lies Link." Speculation, anyone?

Read about that somewhere.

I think I found that on Wikipedia. It's amazing what they have on there.

One of these days, I'm going to see if they have an article of Link's cameos.

Here's another Greek cameo.  And sorry if it stretches the page (I've asked for help from ZV, but if anyone can help me, please do so).
Greek shield (http://files2.turbosquid.com/Preview/Content_on_7_1_2004_14_45_59/s4.JPG0bbe7b81-7901-41ac-b446-1494fabee6d5Small.jpg)
Isn't that half of a Dark Nut's shield?

The racing 'pianta' in Super Mario Sunshine is said to be the MM postman. Also apparently, in Mario RPG you can see link sleeping in a bed in a inn after you sleep there.

That's great, but if you're going to double-post, consider modifying your previous post; therefore, you can add to it and prevent double-posting. Just a tip. ;)
