Guys, I goofed big. In an effort to get rid of the malware warnings plaguing the site, and to free up some server capacity, I went on a massive, bot-deleting binge.
However, I in the process, when I was about 200-something pages into my deletion spree, I noticed Gamefreak's name at the top of the page. It would appear that even though I specified it to search for members with zero posts, it just selected all members, or at least all members with a "0" in their post count, possibly all members up to the letter "G".
For this reason, some if not many of our members were deleted accidentally. If that's the case, and you cannot access or locate your account, or the name on your posts has changed to Deku or guest, create a new account, post in this thread saying who you are, and I will restore your post count to around what it was when you were deleted, generously rounded up, of course. I'll even throw in an honorary title, as my way of saying sorry.
Unfortunately, I cannot restore avatars, signatures, personal information, etc. The accounts that were deleted were completely, irrevocably deleted.
Sorry for the trouble I caused, I'll just go twiddle my thumbs in a corner now.
The list of people I know I have accidentally deleted is as follows:
Zelda Veteran
Jack
So are these the only people deleted, or are there others that we don't really know about yet?
A standard SQL query probably would've been safer, but these things happen. Don't beat yourself up too badly, bro.
Many more people have been deleted, those are just the names that I have noticed are no longer attached to accounts on posts.
What the Hell, Guys?
-Zelda Veteran
Sorry 'bout that.
Unless you remember your exact post count, I set yours at 4k. Even if you had less on your last account, I remember you deleting it a while back and creating a new one, so I guess it all evens out.

I'd like to be "Don Gero", if that's alright. :D
Also, I really don't care. You had good intentions, and you've been a great Administrator thus far. Nobody is perfect, and all I can do is commend you for making time to try to de-clog the colossus.
Keep on shining, you krazy keaton.
Done.

Quote from: kamakaziplumberIf the posts are all still there, then we can just use the admin panel to restore the accounts. Get everyone who lost an account to sign up again with the same email address (and the same username), we can get them hooked up pretty easily. This way, also, only the people who are interested in re-gaining their accounts will get them back, and the amount of work the admins need to do will be spread out over time.
Coolio. Also, I see the notices have gone away, so there's that.
Nice job guys. You deleted me. :P
Not that I come around here very often anyway (hence why I'm only now finding out about this...), but . . . you know. It's nice to come back to the roots every now and then. :)

So I'm guessing he wasn't able to restore the accounts after all? Or maybe he hasn't gone around to them yet. Frick.
From what I gather by zooming around the control panel, it looks like the accounts will have to be restored on a case-by-case basis. I'm not sure how to go about that as I think it's more query-ish than what I'm used to, so you'll have to get KP's help there unless it turns out Gamefreak is secretly a code junkie.
*shrugs* Like I said, I don't come around very often, so it doesn't bother me all that much. If I don't get my post count back I won't mind much.
Now, if it had been my HA2 account, well...then I'd not be so forgiving. >:(
:P
Is it just Jack, ZV, and Alpha then? I expected a longer list. I should be able to fix their stuff now.
So... yeah, ZV and Alpha are done. I can't fix Jack's posts because he doesn't have a new account yet. But, anyways: make sure your post count matches up.
