So, who's freaking out about Revenge of the Sith? 11 days away! ;D
*raises hand*
I can't wait. It's gonna be awesome, I think.
Revenge of the Sith will be the best movie of the year no doubt about that I can't wait!!!

Can't wait. ;D For the most part I have been ignoring the hype, but now I gotta go and see it.

Who wants to see Batman?
I'm personally looking forward to the new December '05 version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (from The Chronicles of Narnia). :D C.S. Lewis, anyone?

*looks around*
Ah. Just me then? XD
Anyone plan on getting the Episode III video game. I would, but they don't have it for GC.
... Shame to say it, but I think Nintendo would be doomed without Zelda.
Yeah GameCube isn't doing so hot. I forsee Nintendo going the way of Sega and becoming a pure developer some day.
QuoteI forsee Nintendo going the way of Sega and becoming a pure developer some day.
Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing, even though I don't wanna see it happen.

Yep, I read it... 'twas(sweet, I got to say that finally ;D) many years(like 7) ago though. Might have to read it again and see that.

I might get the GBA version, depends on it's scores.
QuoteYeah GameCube isn't doing so hot. I forsee Nintendo going the way of Sega and becoming a pure developer some day.
I don't think that will ever happen. First of all, they're doing better now than in the N64 days, and Revolution will bring them at level with Sony. Secondly, they have already stated that if they stop making consoles, they stop making games.
QuoteMaybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing, even though I don't wanna see it happen.
Actually, it would. Nintendo are the only ones left of the console companies who care for the quality of their games and consoles. I dread what will happen if they start to only make games.
And back on topic, I just can't wait to the new Star Wars movie. It'll be interesting to see how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader.
Apparently, the best Star wars game to get is Lego Star Wars it goes through all the films including Episode III it's out on X-box, Playstation and GBA. It may look like its for kids and be a bit easy, but it's a great game. What other game lets you restructure the scenery using the Force?
This is on the strength of a review I read as well as the opinions of others that have played it. Although, those views were based on the X-box and PS2 versions.
Nah, the best Star Wars ever is KOTOR. Hands down! ;D And Lego Star Wars has obviously spoilers for the third movie, and games based on movies are rarely (if ever!) good.
KOTOR is a great game; but what I meant was Lego Star Wars is one of the best games out based on the new Star Wars trilogy; true games based on movies are rarely good but this game is one of the expection to the rule. Kind of like with Spider-man 2.
The extent of my Star Wars knowledge is that the guy dressed in black is somebody's father.
..Okay, that's not true, but it might as well be.
I will, however, be getting Lego Star Wars soon. It's the first hack and slash that inspires "aww's", what's not to love?
Ah so i saw the movie this morning. Despite the bad dialogue (Lucas' admitted weak spot) and the sadness that the saga was now over, it was an amazing movie. Two thumbs up.
Anyone else see it yet?
Actually, ive heard that there gona remake them in 3-D...good or bad? :-\
Ooh... really? Remaking them? I had a feeling that they wouldn't just be able to say, "OK! Star Wars is all done. Enjoy your DVD's! We're off to make a new series--like, 'Moon Peace.'" :D Hard to imagine just an "end" to the saga...
Though I might imagine that some would be indignant if episodes 4-6 were remade...
Not todaly remade, I think, just put into 3-D.*gulp*
Not yet, I'm waiting a while 'cause I don't wanna be there with the millions of people that are going.
No, their already in 3-D, so I'm not really sure what you mean.
You mean, like the Disney-style 3D glasses sort of 3D? With the blue and red goggles (as in "Spy Kids 3D")?
No that would not be cool at all
And it would not work good.
I saw it today. (I live in a suburban area, and I got into the movie for a 4:10 showing, and that was a real good time. The theater wasn't even half full.) One of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Lightsaber duels in it are awesome, and I like the whole psycological aspect of it with Anakin. If anyone can get to it before I do, wouldn't it be cool to make a separate Star Wars thread for those of us who have already seen it?
http://desertcolossus.com/forum/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=100
Done. ;D
Oh, and I've seen a movie before in IMAX 3D. If you can get the past the wearing of the goggles, it's actually an amazing experience. The action takes place right in front of your face. I can only imagine how amazing Star Wars would be like that.
THus, from what I've read, in 2007 Lucas will rerelease the Prequels in 3D for the 30th anniversery of the first movie's debut.
I saw it yesterday and I was blown away. Obi-Wan and Yoda were even more badass in this one then Episode II. I am one who loves the classics and I think The Empire Strikes Back was the best but I would say Revenge of the Sith is right up there with that and the originals.
Whoa, Rugger's back! Hey there, how is everything going?
Yeah Yoda, and Palpatine too, were by far the best characters in this movie.
I rank it the third best in the saga, with RoTJ as #1 and ESB as #2.
Hey, BG, glad to see you're back here! I am going to have to see the movie at least one more time before it comes out. I think I like movies more the second time because I can focus more attention on smaller details. Next time I go, I shouldn't sit so close, cause I don't like too big of a picture. As far as ranking for me goes it is:
#1 RoTJ - Lots of action and a story that ends on a high note.
#2 RoTS - Same as the above, but more action and a phenomenal story that has an unfortunate ending that ties everything together.
#3 ESB - Good effects. I love the lightsaber battle that ends with Vader revealing his identity as Anakin. The part with Yoda's training was a bit boring, but it was funny when Luke first met him.
I call a tie between Episode II and IV. II was a little too lovie dovie, but it was nescessary. It had its good moments, like the final lightsaber battle, but that was too short. IV I can't say anything bad about, but it is mostly an introduction to the characters.
#6 PM - Jar Jar Binks killed it. Loved the lightsaber battle though.
I wish that Lucas would make the last three episodes after Return of Jedi but he said that is most likely won't happen. He did say in a interview that he would consider doing it if RotS is the highest box office movie of the year but I think he is doing that just to get people to see the movie.
Of course he does have the two TV shows coming up but I have a bad feeling about that. Granted the Clone Wars cartoon was pretty good but live action Star Wars TV seems like a bad idea to me.
It would be neat if he did make VII VIII & IX. Wouldn't they end up being like the books though?
Not sure, it would be up to Lucas unless he handed over the reins to someone else. However, it would not be the same even if they did it. You can't have someone else play Luke besides Mark Hamill and certainly no one can play Han Solo other then Harrison Ford (Same with Indiana Jones).
Oh, that's right, they are all older now. That makes it awkward.
I saw an interview with Lucas where he said he had VII-IX written, but he said he wouldn't direct them... Also, that's a really good point.
Okay, the hype got to me. I went out and bought the other five, again, and I watched them, and I saw RotS... and now I lifesize cardboard cutout of Darth Vader sitting in my bedroom. Yes, I am a geek, thanks for noticing.
*ahem*
No one can EVER replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo. They just can't! No Harrison, no Star Wars, I say. :P ..Same with Luke and Leia. I'm not a Han fangirl! ..stop staring at me! :o
I am bringing this all the way back from the last page.
I noticed something in SW III that is really weird. In the scene where Padme and Bail Organa are sitting in the assembly when Palpatine declares the Old Republic the Empire, there is a shot of the people sitting in the pod, only Jar-Jar Binks magically appeared in the place of Padme. Then there is another shot at a different angle and Padme is back like nothing happened. What is up with that?
Huh? I didn't notice that.
Nor did I, really. I suppose it must've been a technical blooper, but to me, it went by unnoticed.
I might be able to capture some images and post them here.
Please do so. In what time do you think you'll be able to do this?
Now. :)
Jar-Jar (http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4510/starwars25cv.jpg) ... Padme (http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7989/starwars38kj.jpg)
Are you sure you weren't comparing two different pods? I don't see anything.
No, it is the same pod. Notice that in the one with Jar-Jar you can see Bail at the bottom of the screen. In the next one they are in the same position but Padme takes Jar-Jar's place.
Star Wars is a classic. it rocks, but i just cant stand Darth Sidious.
Sidious rules, do you se the way he pulls out his lightsaber!
I like the way Yoda comes in all old and crippled like. Pulls out his lightsaber, and goes all ninja style on his enemies.
i like in episode 3, when yoda goes into emperor sidious's room and the royal guards see him. he just flicks his hand and they drop it's so sick!
Anyone else notice that thing with Padme and Jar-Jar? It is really bugging me. I wonder if it was an intentional joke to see if the audience would notice or what.
My rundown of Star Wars Episodes.
Empire Strikes Back
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
Return of the Jedi
Attack of the Clones
Phantom Menace
my favorite episode is Attack of the Clones. its the only episode where anakin and obi-wan are old enough to fight together and it's cool ;D
See, it's hard for new age Star Wars fans to appreciate the originals.
Then I guess I was lucky to experience the originals well before the prequels came out. ;D
I was lucky enough for GF to show them to me episode 4 first and 3 last. I think Return of the jedi was best followed by revenge of the sith.
That is how I rank them too, Sephiroth.
See, you have two categories.
1. Old School Star Wars fans.
Old school Star Wars fans are diehard fans of the origninals. They have been following it from the late 70's into the mid 90's when the Special Edition came out. I guess I fall into this crowd since I got into Star Wars around 93. This generation isn't particularly fond of the new trilogy. And many are committed to the destruction of Jar Jar Binks.
2. New School Star Wars fans.
New School Star Wars fans are the ones who got into the series when the Star Wars Special Edition came out. This made them suckers for special effects. They will also say that they liked the new trilogy better than the original.
I'm kind of a new school but i do like the originals better and i despise jar-jar.
I think I may still have the originals on VHS
My favorite is return of the jedi straight up. :)
Sure it wasn't the most action-packed of the six but it was the best, i loved it
finaly some one else thinks the best of tham all. ;D
I thought that Return of the Jedi tried to hard to introduce a "cute" factor to it.
what do you mean cute factor it was totally kick but. :)
He's talking about the ewoks i believe.
Yes, I am talking about Ewoks. It's too cutesy and I felt that took away from the overall presentation of the movie.
what do you mean that stop from still being the movie of them all. :P
Episode 1 fell victim to the same thing (among others) that made it a lesser movie of the trilogy. Star Wars is supposed to be serious. Perfect examples of that are Empire Strikes Back, and Revenge of the Sith. When you've got Ewoks and Jar Jar, it feels like it's more for kids. Which is dumb because it appealed to the kids of the late 70's just fine without adding any cute stuff.
My favorite episode is episode 2, but my favorite trilogy is the older one. they are more classic and i think they are overall presented better.
out of the classics my favorite is empire strikes back. :)
Out of the classic, i like 6 the most, it was a very good and well made episode.
My favorite from both trilogies.
Old Trilogy: Empire Strikes Back
New Trilogy: Revenge of the Sith.
It's kind of like DMC here, in the DMC series 1 and 3 were great but DMC2 didn't live up to the standards set by the other two. Same thing with episodes 1 and 2. They were good but not great like the other four.
Episode 3 was the only one placing in the top 150 movies. Placing low at 139 though. Where as A New hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi have placed at least in the top 30.
I must say, episode 3 did have the most action than in the othes.
yup that sure is true. :)
and it was also the bloodiest and most highly rated (it was rated PG-13 while the others were PG)
I never noticed that. :-\
True. It did have a PG-13 rating. Although Lightsaber wounds don't draw blood. The energy from a lightsaber melts shut the arteries closing the blood vessel.
awsome yet gross. :)
Well, that's the only explanation I have on why people don't bleed from lightsaber wounds
say what. :-\
If they beld from light saber wounds, the ratins in episode 3 would be like R. He would bleed so much at the end, imagine??
ouch I could imagine that.. :-X
yea, those rocks near the lava would be stained red! and if youdid bleed after algith saber cut, anakin would've died.
that would of saved alot of problems in the upcoming movies. :)
Not really, who would stop the emporer taking over? Luke couldn't stop him, so without Darth Vader the empire would have reined for a looooong time (Unless the Daleks came and just exterminated them all).
Well, it was prophesized that Luke was the one who could beat the Emperor. The Emperor just probably caught Luke off guard.
either way, the emperor would've been taken down by luke one way or another. it was just that anakin helped at the time, cause he was alive.
Didn't the prophesy say that a Skywalker would bring ballance to the universe? This would make sence as previously (In the prequals) There were loads of Jedi but only ever a couple of Sith. So by killing all the Jedi and leaving only Luke alive (Who has connections to the Light and Dark path) there is a sort of ballence in the force. (I think)
good point. But how do you know that the prophesised Skywalker wasnt anakin?
Well i've read the book that takes place after episode VI and (spoilers) luke begins to train leia in the ways of the jedi. There is also a new dark jedi(not a sith lord) and a new emporer so it couldn't have been annakin, it would have to be some other skywalker (or in the case of leia or her kids, an Organa-Solo)
Excluding the later books though, it does seem to fit. Oh and random question but am I the only person who thought that General Grievous was a really well designed and imaginativly created character? No one seems to mention him so I'm not sure what most people think of him...
hes a loser, i dontlike him. He kills Jedi and taskes their light sabers, dud that aint cool! >:(
Grevious was cool, but he served no point. He just came out of the blue into the series and he just felt out of place.
He did somewhat. Had the Star Wars films come in cronilogical order it would have been a forshadowing of what would happen to Darth Vader as in becoming more machine than living being.
I only liked Episode 1, the Phantom Menace. The rest of the movies weren't that good if you ask me.
I like any part that involved shooting.
i wish Qui-Gon would've lived....i always hated Darth Maul for killing him so early in the series.
Qui-Gon wasn't completely gone. Obi-Wan stayed on Tatooine for many years mainly to communicate with him, I think. Is that right?
Supposedly his "spirit" survived in the force. That's why luke can still see and speak to Obi-one and Yoda in the second trillogy (I think...).
yea, but c'mon....it wuld be cool if he was physically there.
True, but Darth Maul was a goon. No offense to those who like his character, but when he took of his hood to reveal that he looks like someone who spilt paint on his face and got several pairs of scisors in his head I wasn't amazed or scared. I laughed. He was so silly and, though the barely talking thing was cool, for a role where little is shown through speach you need to have an actor that has a wide range of physical theatre practise. Someon who knows how to move and react (Rather than just scowl all the time and stand like a school child with a floorboard holding his back up). Heck, the CGI animators managed to get more life into him during some of the fight scenes! Oh and I MasterKey, the guy who played Qui-Gon was good. I wish they could have kept the character.
I think it would have been better if you never saw maul's face.
Yeah, a mysterious assasin style character trying to hunt down and kill off Jedi like Qui-gon and Obi-one would have been cool.
i hate darth maul either way. He looks werid and acts like a moron...he was better of staying a mystery.
