Title: Power of the triforce
Post by: Master Goron on May 15, 2005, 10:01:17 PM
Here's the first 2 chapters of a story I'm working on, entitled "The Legend of Zelda: Power of the Triforce". It is the story of Ganondorf's return after MM, foretold in the intro of the Wind Waker. This is only part of what I've finished, but it's too long to put all of it, so here it is:

[Chapter 1]

A tiny warrior amid the vast openness of Hyrule Field. The most important fight of his life, this is what he'd been training for. His one chance to make everything he'd done worthwhile, his one chance to become a legend. Ganon flying wildly in front of him, hurling his black magic waves at the mighty fighter. This fighter knew though, he knew Ganon's strategy, and that was why they had to fight, now... And this man knew there could only be one victor, only one champion, only one savior. He had to strike Ganon through the black hole in his chest, and destroy the pig-demon before his plan unfolded. He swings the sword around in his hands several times; he then holds it out pointed straight at Ganon's chest...

Well, he's not really a warrior, but rather a carefree seven year old. Playing as any child does, he's running wildly, chasing down butterflies with the "Sword of Evil's Bane." A two-foot long wooden sword in hand, the boy has no idea of the incoming danger. "Ha-Ah" He grunts as he swings at a white butterfly, "I'll get you!" Dodging the upcoming patches of grass swiftly, he watched the butterfly fly higher, then swoop in. "Unh... Ha! Ha!" He reaches down and picks up "Ganon," The newly defeated butterfly giving no signs of life as he grabs it, he throws it into the air, "Fly now!" He watches it fall slowly to the ground and a few tears can be seen forming in his eyes. Realizing that he killed this creature, stolen the essence of it's existence, he couldn't resist crying.

Suddenly, from the East comes a loud 'whoosh, whoosh' and he raises his head up. A large swirling object in the sky appears from a distant hill, and frightened, the child turns and begins a mad rush back to the safety of his house. Looking back over his shoulder every couple of seconds, he sees the Peahat getting closer and closer.  As Hyrule Town comes into view, the wind from the Peahat knocks the child off of his feet. Laying there, his muscles tense, breathing painful and fast, and the sheer terror knowing that nothing could save him tears into his soul.

Soon, loud screams, and a 'whp, whp, whp, whp' as the Peahat reaches it's target. He can feel the welts forming around the new cuts along his back, and an almost endless amount of pain draining into every cavity of his mind, allowing no thoughts to enter. The child's screams fade slowly away into nothingness, and his breathing gradually calms to a bare minimum.

Completely oblivious to the 'shing' he can be heard crying. Soon, a loud grunt is heard just to his left, and he soon realizes he isn't being attacked. Still, he can't move his body, paralyzed, he can only listen to the sound of the battle, followed by a loud crunch. Sensing more vicious attacks, the child condenses his form tighter to the ground.

Standing there, a man dressed in a long black robe looks down at the small child and shakes his head. 'Wow... that's a shame' he thinks to himself, looking at the child's shredded clothes, and slashed back. Not sure whether to address this child or reach down and touch him, he stands there for a few awkward minutes. As the child stops crying, he turns his head and sees the man's boots next to him. Letting out a shriek that could have been either inexhaustible joy, or absolute terror, he turns over and tries to address the man... "I, ah... ya save me? or... are ya gonna kill me?" Of which came the callous reply of "No."

A confused look comes onto the child's delicate face, as he's unsure of what to expect. Looking up, he squints to keep the sun out of his eyes as he attempts to look at the man's face. The sun shines from behind and gives him a virtuous type of look, convincing the child. Throwing his body up, he grab's around the man's stomach, hugging as tightly as his arms can squeeze. He is soon crying again though, sobbing his heart out onto this stranger's coat, the tall man unsure of how to handle the situation. He finally puts his hand on the child's shoulder in a comforting fashion. "Let's get you home..."

[Chapter 2]

Following the child to his house was the man's duty, his sole obligation at this time. He knew the child needed his presence to feel safe on this journey. The endless waving hills of the field around them slowly melded to become the town within a period of twenty minutes. Just outside the town, the man called the child to his side, knelt down, and offered him an object for his bravery.

This was no ordinary entity, especially to the injured kid. The man then drew it from around his neck, and held it out. As he accepted the necklace, an excited look crossed his face... this necklace had a triforce on it! All each triangle colored the shade of the Goddess that it represented. The opening in the middle an empty black, he stares blankly into the infinite depths, eyes fixed as if gazing into another dimension. The child then looks up and looks straight into the man's eyes, he shows limitless respect for him, and thanks him a great many times.

As he stands up, the man begins escorting him through the town, walking past, the first guard nods to them, and they enter the town square. The child hastily rushes toward his house, as if he'd forgotten of his injuries, but of course, the man knew the reason... And he knew the child was ecstatic to be home. The child threw open his door, ran to his mother and began crying, hugging her hard, overjoyed to see her, thankful that he'd got the chance.

Of course he soon told his mother of the brave man's heroic feat, and she couldn't do much but thank him over and over again. Showing off his new necklace, the child elucidated to his mother where it came from, and by the glow on his face both adults knew it wasn't worth it to return the man. After shaking her hand, he politely removed himself from their house, waved, and turned to head back out of the town.

He would never learn the full repercussions of that single definitive action.

Walking out of the town, he looked up at the clouds above Death Mountain, taking a mental note of their color... Pure white... He knew that couldn't be a good sign, and wondered to himself 'What could possibly cause that? I created those clouds, made them black, they're supposed to be my color!' Eyed ensnared by the ring of haze, he dredges farther into the endless fields and can tell by the slight change towards twilight he knows the sun is beginning to set behind him.

A loud deafening crack, a blinding flash, and a swirling fury of water drowns his senses to the point of virtual death. Dead to everything happening around him, cloak soaked until the point it is fused to his body, the last traces of light fade into total black, a hint of weariness grabs at him, pulling him toward the inevitable unknown, fought off by his immense mind power.

He continues on soon to be attacked by the wandering souls of those skeletons left from the imprisoning war. His eyes glow luminescently, an eerie yellow, and the skeletons raise just inches above the wet muddy turf below. As the bones reach the highest point, the same yellow glow flows from the ground up into their feet. After a few depressing seconds, the glow permeates from inside, slowly tearing through the remains. After a series of intense flashes, the stalfoses explode with yellow fury. The souls of the dead slowly become a tornado, soon after entering the eye, they meld together and fly high into the sky, he looks up at them, his eyes turning lighter, the souls are pulled into the cavities of his head, and his eyes return to their normal blackness.

Looking up, he returns to the swamp that is Hyrule Field. Tromping through the vast wetness, seconds turn to minutes which then become hours, and the field would seem to never end.

So can I get thoughts? I would also like suggestions of what could be changed, what I do well, stuff like that. As I find them worthy, I will probably put up more sections.
