Garth Brooks and Toby Keith.  No, I'm not kidding.  I'm one of those oddballs who like country music.

My true passion in music, though, is instrumentals.  Particularly Zelda themes.  I also enjoy other video games' themes, namely the Wild Arm series.  I'm also a fan of John Williams (think Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Indiana Jones) and Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings trilogy).

No way...! You like John Williams!? He's my favorite composer of all time! ;D

But, yeah, I generally like orchestrated music, such as John Williams and Koji Kondo. However, my favorite rock band has to be Sister Hazel. There's really nothing like Sister Hazel. ;)

Wow.  I didn't expect anyone here to know who John Williams is.

I'm not much for rock.  If I listen to it, it's clasic rock, and it's because my mom's listening to it.  But Bruce Springsteen is good for road trip music (no offense).  I will listen to Queen anywhere, though. ;D

As long as you don't like rap, I don't care what you like.  Rap is what gives kids the brain damage.  With their hippin and a hoppin and a bippin and a boppin.  Kid's don't know what the Jazz is all about.  Jazz is like a Jello Pudding Pop.  No, it's more like Kodak film.  I know, It's like the New Coke, it will be around forever.

obvious Simpsons line.

o i like the american rejects! all there songs rock! o here is one,

dirty little secret (actually just a small part of it)

... ill keep you my dirty little secret,
dont tell anyone or you'll be just another reject,
my dirty little secret, who has to know?
when we live such fragile lives,
its the best way, we survive.
i go around a time or 2,
just to waist my time with you.
tell me all that you've thrown away,
find out games you dont wanna play,
you are the only one that needs to know...
ill keep you my dirty little secret,
dont tell anyone or you'll be just another reject,
my dirty little secret, who has to know? ...

o! and i like this one too!

move along ( once again small part)

... when you need to keep it strong, move along move along like i know you do.
and even when your hope is gone, move along move along just to make it through.
right back what is wrong we move along.
when every thing is wrong we move along.
along.
along.
along.
along.when you need to keep it strong, move along move along like i know you do.
and even when your hope is gone, move along move along just to make it through.

ahhhh! i love those songs!

Utada Hikaru is a good singer!

When you walk away,
You don't hear me say,
"Please, oh, baby, don't go!"
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight.
It's hard to let it go...

Classic! ;D
Title: Re:Music
Post by: alex on June 07, 2006, 01:46:24 PM
o i know that song! but i know the whhoole thing!

youre giving me too many things
lately youre all i need
you smiled at me and said,
dont get me wrong i love you
but does that mean i have to meet your father?
when we are older youll understand
what i meant when i said "no
i dont think life is quite that simple"
when you walk away
you dont hear me say please
oh baby, dont go
simple and clean is the way that youre making me feel tonight
its hard to let it go
the daily things that keep us all busy
are confusing me
thats when you came to me and said
wish i could prove i love you
but does that mean i have to walk on water?
when we are older youll understand
its enough when i say so
and maybe some things are that simple
hold me
whatever lies bey ond this morning
is a little later on
regardless of warnings the future dosnt scare me at all
nothings like before.

i love that song too!

What about The Beatles?

Yesterday(Just a small part):
Yesterday all my love seems so far away,
suddenly life was not half the way it used to be,
why she had to go I dont know,
she wouldn't say...

Or Let it be:
When I find my self in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me,
Speaking words of wisdom,
Let it be, let it be.
And though they may be parted,
there is still a chance,
let it be, let it be, ooo let it be...

I like quite a bit of rap actually...
My fave is LL Cool J. feat. J.Lo - Control Myself I wont write out the lyrics cos you would gasp at their rudeness.
I love Man Eater by Nelly Furtado here is a bit :
Verse 1-
Everybody look at me, me
I walk in the door you start screaming
Come on everybody whatchu here for?
Move your body around like a nympho
Everybody get your necks to crack around
All you crazy people come on jump around
I want to see you all on your knees
you either want to be with me, or be me

Chorus-
Maneater, make you work hard
Make you spend hard
Make you want all, of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cords
make you fall, fall in love
Maneater, make you work hard
Make you spend hard
Make you want all, all of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cords
Wish you never ever met her at all

Here's part of the lyrics to Ireland, a song on Garth Brooks' Fresh Horses CD, if you want songs ;):

They say mother earth is breathing
With each wave that finds the shore
Her soul rises in the evening
For to open twilight's door
Her eyes are the stars in heaven
Watching o'er us all the while
And her heart it is in Ireland
Deep within the Emerald Isle

We are forty against hundreds
In someone else's bloody war
We know not why we're fighting
Or what we're dying for
They will storm us in the morning
When the sunlight turns the sky
Death is waiting for its dance now
Fate has sentenced us to die

Ireland I am coming home
I can see you rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland

i need you by my side

and every time we touch i feel the static!
and every time we kiss i reach for the sky!
cant you feel my heart beat slow,
i cant let you go!
i want you in my life.

your arms are my castle,
your heart is my sky,
they wipe away tears that i cry
the good and the bad times,
we've been through them all
you make me rise when i fall!

One Winged Angel?  I don't know the lyrics to the Advent Children one, so here's the one to the original:

*Estuans interius
Ira vehementi.
Estuans interius
Ira vehementi.

**Sephiroth!
Sephiroth!

repeat *

repeat **

Sors immanis-
Et inanis.
Sors immanis-
Et inanis.
repeat*

repeat **
______
Awesome instrumental break
______
Veni, veni, venias,
Ne me mori facias.
Veni, veni, venias,
Ne me mori facias.
Veni, veni, venias,
Ne me mori facias.

repeat **

Repeat above again.

Translated from the Latin, it's:

Estuans interius Ira vehementi=Burning inside with violent anger.

Sors immanis-Et inanis=Fate monstous and empty.

Veni, veni, venias Ne me mori facias=Come, come, oh come, do not let me die.

Sephiroth is a name.

And for a little bit of extra information, One Winged Angel was put together from lines from Carl Orff's poems.

Country isn't that bad, JDog.  At least you can understand the words, unlike rap and heavy rock.
You can understand the words in heavy metal it just takes awhile to figure out what there saying

I personally do not like country music either.  But I can tolerate listening to it.

I used to be able to tolerate country until they started playing it on my busride to school everyday. Now I always bring a CD player, but when it runs out of batteries, I have to listen to country again.

Oh, and about the rap and heavy metal having lyrics that are hard to understand, you don't really need to understand the lyrics to enjoy music. One of the reasons I listen to music from senegal. It's good reggae, and it's good rock n roll, even though I don't understand it.

My favourite is Bob Dylan, he's such an amazing poet and musician.

Just read the lyrics to 'Blind Willie McTell' - you will never need another artist!

Seen the arrow on the doorpost
Saying, "This land is condemned.
All the way from New Orleans
To Jerusalem."
I traveled through East Texas
Where many martyrs fell
And I know no one can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

Well, I heard the hoot owl singing
As they were taking down the tents
The stars above the barren trees
Were his only audience
Them charcoal gypsy maidens
Can strut their feathers well
But nobody can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

See them big plantations burning
Hear the cracking of the whips
Smell that sweet magnolia blooming
(And) see the ghosts of slavery ships
I can hear them tribes a-moaning
(I can) hear the undertaker's bell
(Yeah), nobody can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

There's a woman by the river
With some fine young handsome man
He's dressed up like a squire
Bootlegged whiskey in his hand
There's a chain gang on the highway
I can hear them rebels yell
And I know no one can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

Well, God is in heaven
And we all want what's his
But power and greed and corruptible seed
Seem to be all that there is
I'm gazing out the window
Of the St. James Hotel
And I know no one can sing the blues
Like Blind Willie McTell

You should all listen to his songs.
