Definition of Sheik

... It seems the official translation is the leader, or patriarch of an Islamic country.

The wife or daughter of a Sheik is called a Shiekhah. Sound familar? :3

And in slang terms... Sheik means an irrestable man who woos all the ladies. xD

Quite frankly, though, I think the fact that it's a letter or two off from "Shriek" has a lot to do with his/her/its name. After all, Impa was the sage of the Shadow temple, and Shrieking.... yeah.

Never thought of it that way actually, which is weird... cuz it's pretty obvious a lot of it. I guess I never thought of any connection. What does all those who know Japanese say about this? Do they have any adds perhaps?

Anyway good work I noticed the word Shiek in Arabian themed movies but I never thought of it in this way.

No, a sheik is not neccessarily religious. He's just a noble. A rich-man or a community-leader. Am I wrong? I dont know but my impression is that a sheik dont have to be tied to religion, though me may be.

Well, that's what the definition says... But I don't think he could be the leader, as Impa was the founder of Kakariko and the shadow sage and whatnot.

No, because I'll bet it is just derived from Sheikah. Either that or it is the handsome charming man, so Zelda changed to Sheik because....okay I'm stopping, I'm sickening myself...
