Um... hate to break it to you, but yes, even though their views are different, Catholics are Chirstians. A Christians is anyone who accepts Christ as the lord and savior, and Catholics do that.

They're not questioning how funny it is for Christians.  You separated Catholics from Christians like they were completely different groups, when Catholicism is actually a sect of Christianity.  Mentioning Catholics after Christians was redundant.  They were questioning your knowledge of Christianity.  And (no offense) for something as basic as that, I would think your Sunday School teacher would be a tad bit disappointed in you.
