Please Tell Me How Big Your Screen Is

I've gotten two complaints about my sig being too long (as in scretching the page), but it's fine on my computer screen. My screen is a 800x600 (it's a Windows PC). I know some computer screens are wider, so that may be why my sig appears long. Guys, if my sig is too long on your screen, tell me what size screen you have. I don't know how I can make my sig fit your screen when I don't have your size screen.

Hi no Seijin

Well, I'm no computer expert (I'm rather illiterate when it comes to computers, really), but I think you're confusing screen size with screen resolution.  800x600 is screen resolution.  Screen size is actually measured by inches (I think; someone who actually knows computers please correct me if I'm wrong).

Yeah, I'm no member of the geek squad myself.

I wouldn't say stretching the screen, it's more like it's making the page incredibly longer.

It's not that long, is it? Besides, I've seen lots of people with long sigs. (sigh) I'll see what I can do.

EDIT: How about now? I replaced the Photoshoped picture with the pointing Vaati. (Since the Photoshoped Vaati had been there lon enough and the pointing Vaati is cute)

Keaton

That's fine.  And yeah, it's not stretching the page, per se, it's just making the page much longer, which makes the forums more tedious to browse.  I think we would all do well to keep the length of our signatures in mind...

Plus, we're costing KP/Jack more monies vis a vis bandwidth.

An issue I'm working to fix.  I can set a number of characters per sig, but I'm trying to figure out some kind of good point to set it at.

That won't help with the size of the images in the signature... I suggest just making an announcement about sizes and what you should try to avoid.

Fishalicious

And give them a warning if they do it twice.

... Oh, and my screen's 1024 x 780 or whatever it is.

Keaton

I believe you're referring to 1024x768.  And yeah... there should be some remonstrative thing if they continuously break the size limits.

Hi no Seijin

The usually limit on sig images are 400x600 pixels, right?  (And that's height x width, right?)

I guess that's pretty good.  I'll work with it and come up with something in a little bit.

God, I hope not. That's huge. Something like 400x200 seems fine.

also it is width x height

MagmarFire

Yeah, just think of it like an ordered pair. x first, y second. ;)

And I believe you can adjust sizes of pictures using tags. Just put the desired width and height into the first tag. For example...

. . .gives you this:

Yeah. I mean, you could have a picture URL (including the image code) that only takes up, oh say, 15 characters, but the picture itself can fill up the whole screen.
