The End of a Kingdom

The following was taken from a book found in the remains of what was formerly known as Hyrule Castle.

To those who read this writing in the future, I am afraid this is the only account of the once great Kingdom of Hyrule's demise. We of Hyrule have been plagued by the curse known as death, brought to us by the gods and goddesses as a punishment.

"Why punish you?", you may ask. Hyrule's royal family has always been a loving and caring government for our people until this time. When both the king and queen died, the one chosen to rule the kingdom would be the one who brought to us the end. He ordered the armies to far off lands to conquer all. He taxed the people heavily. Those who defied the royal fool were slaughtered. Even those who held the highest positions below him were no exceptions. When his mother asked him to stop, the royal fool had her killed publically to show him having no mercy, and to warn those who wished to defy him.

When several of his family members defied him and created a coup government in Kakariko Village, the town was destroyed, its inhabitants buried alive, and his family members, and other officials who went with them, tortured brutally until they begged for death. With only those completely loyal to him left, the armies conquering new lands, and the people at his mercy, he had become complete master of Hyrule.

The outraged Gorons left Hyrule for new lands, while the Zoras cut off all ties with the royal family. When an army, sent to "correct" the Zoras in the royal fool's words, marched north, the Zoras followed suit and left.

At this time, with the guard force at an all-time low in the city, the people rebelled, burning down government buildings, slaughtering the remaining soldiers, refusing to pay taxes, and eventually captured an abandoned prison and stole the weapons that rested there. The castle gates were torn down, the gardens filled with angered rebels, and the castle itself got locked up.

The royal fool looked down at this from his chamber, and order that all those who set foot in the castle from that point on be slaughtered. Within days the city's population dropped to only a third of that before the royal fool's selfish ass layed on the throne.

The soldiers who returned from the north, and the few soldiers who returned from the royal fool's damned "Crusade Against the Nonbelievers", his personal name for the conquering of our former allies and friends, were shocked at his actions, and joined forces with the rebels. The royal fool, with only the few who were left in the castle, ordered the the city be set ablaze.

Much to the royal fool's disappointment, however, most of the people escaped and went south to the forests. With only a pocketful of soldiers left to fight, the royal fool ordered a wall built between the forests and the plains. The citizens of Hyrule were no longer Hyrulians, but rebels to the "true Hyrulians", the royal fool and his henchmen.

If you believe that our troubles were at an their worst at this point, my dear reader, then you will be suprised when that is only the beginning. After the seperation of people and state, all the destruction and death locked up in hell escaped and attacked the former kingdom.

Well, I wasn't really planning on adding more to the story, but after seeing people liked it, I guess I'll add more. I can't do it right now, though, but I'll try to do it soon.
